(((Hugs))) to you and kisses for Alex. My Daphney has seizures (as does my mother) so I know how difficult this is for you.
Prayers coming your way.
he didn't have another one last night, so maybe it won't be a bad weekend, i'm on duty all 3 days this weekend. thanks for the support and prayers. dear in love with animals, alex has had seizures since 1998, so it's been a long while. he can go as short as 3 weeks and the longest seizure free time was 6 months. this am, he's real interested in breakfast and going out for a backyard check
Sounds promising for a good weekend for you both!!
{{hugs}}
I'm glad there were no more seizures last night. I hope the weekend is
a good, uneventful one for you both. :)
so no more "visits" for 24 hours, so paws crossed
Oh Joyce, I'm so glad to hear things have been good!
so happy boy made me a liar. :( he had one at 11:30pm, one at 2:30am and one at 8am. eileen had to be human parent on the scene for that one, i was at work. i called the vet and she knows, so off to the pharm for more meds. yuck!
:(
Sorry to hear this, Alex.
But you DID have some good days in there ... *munch* some pills
and start to feel BETTER, OK?
a very stoned dog is sitting under the desk. he had another one around 11:30 last night. after each seizure to boost his blood sugar, per the vets' instructions he's to get a small meal; peanut has learned this means a middle of the night snack, she loves the scrambled egg or cottage cheese. alex inhales the food and looks for more, he's willing to eat anytime.
Awww Joyce, I was hoping that I'd read he hadn't had any more but it seems this is not the case:(
Lots of love and hugs to you both.
alex has had 2 more seizures since sunday am. i talked to the vet and we're gonna bump his phenobarb up to 164 mg, twice a day, blood work to test his levels in 3 weeks. this is a lot of meds for a 40-ish pound 11 year old dog. i do get upset over the number he has had and the amount of med he's on and i've worked myself into a migrane, so that monster is here too-GRRRR, ya think head issues can be passed tween dogs and humans? :p

I'm so sorry to hear this Joyce.
:(
aawww poor you and poor Alex! :(Quote:

Joyce, I am very, very bad at checking the Health section. I am so sorry that Alex is having trouble with seizures again. And I was most surprised too. Snoopy had his first seizure since Dec. 13 on the 11th. He was 4 minutes long grand mal - I began to wonder if he was ever going to come out of it - but doesn't always seem longer while they are going through it? I gave him his medicine and followed up with a couple days of valium but he seems to be doing okay. (knock on wood). I checked my calendar and found that 3 years ago on the 13th was Snoopy's first seizure. So what was in the air?

any update?
My heart goes out to you.
I had a little poodle mix that had some whopper size seizures when she got older.
I hope the meds will control them.
Hugs to you and alex.
since yesterday at 9pm, no more. he is recovering quickly and the post ictal period is short. he's his bouncy self today. and that makes me happy
*whew*
Glad he's his normal bouncy self!!
Good news! Keep getting better, Alex!
i think alex might have this, or a complex seizure or a small stroke, off to the vet. pupdate later.

Prayers and Thoughts on the way...
my vet can't find anything wrong, she said alex is neurologically competent ( and i wish i was :D ). the circling thing might have been a complex partial seizure, might have an episode of old dog vestibular disease, or maybe something else. but, for today, he's home, is annoying the cats and is happy as a well loved dog. life is good, and i'm still wanting some one to tell me i'm neurologically competent :p
you are neurologically competent!! ;)
I was wondering how it was going.
Continued prayers and thoughts on the way for you both!
Poor Alex and poor Joyce. Hope things start to get better for you both soon. If you want, Joyce, I will second Staci's you are neurologically competent -- feel better now?
Any update??
Poor Alex. I am so sorry. Hopefully he goes back to his good ole self.;) Fingers and paws crossed for Alex.
Feel better now!
alex had 1 more episode of spinning. in consulation w/ the vet, i'm splitting his evening phenobarb dose 2/3 at regular pill time(6:30), last 1/3 at 3 1/2 to 4 hours after that. the idea is to keep his blood levels at a theraputic level, all night. he and princess peanut are thrilled with the extra food at bedtime. thanks so much for the concern and the assertion of competence. i need that
Poor Alex.
I feel so sorry for him. Get better, sweetie!
Thinking of you and Alex!!
You are as neurologically competent as the rest of us ;)
Hugs and kisses to you all
Any update?
Thinking of you Alex! Get better soon! :(
