Tommy & Raven's dog park adventure

I took Tommy and Raven to the dog park today for the first time. I just really learned about it a couple years ago but before we always went to other places as I wasn't alone. I had heard the Mississippi runs alongside the park and the dogs can swim there so I thought they might enjoy it. I left Tash because she is not as tolerant of dogs jumping all over her and not as social with people.

Some of the pics aren't as nice as I'd like because the sun was blaring full blast and I forgot to bring my lens hood, and I also didn't mess with the camera settings any. I thought I'd share a few of their day though!

Lab/Akita mix, I think his name was Charlie. He was HUGE, a bit bigger than Tommy even and Tommy is a big boy!

Overall they were very very good, except for Raven jumping up a few times on people after she had been swimming :o. They are exhausted pups now though, they had a wonderful time!

What a beautiful park! I wish I had something like that over here. Tango would love it. Raven is such a beautiful little girl, and of course Tommy is looking as handsome as ever. Thanks for sharing these; I enjoyed all of them. :)

The wading in is a husky thing. That's all most of my dogs will do. They hate it when they can't touch the bottom!

He was such a cute little mix! And with the beagle and husky well.. she said he had a mind of his own :D. He was a good sport. Sometimes overwhelmed Raven a bit, she's used to being the wild one!

It looks like Tommy and Raven had a great time! They are both adorable even when wet. :D The pictures are nice, it's always nice to see a few extra dogs also! ;)

It's so good to see Tommy and Raven having such a great time. That park is incredibly lush and green. I love the water shots. What a couple of great swimmers and cutie patooties. I am in love with Tommy and his ball in his mouth pictures. He always looks like he has a real gentle grip on the ball. Raven is just a raving beauty!! She's looking great and so happy. Zazu is a little doll. It looks like Raven hit it off with Zazu right away. Great pics, Jess. Thanks for sharing. It looks like a great day all around for all of you. :)

Aw they are such cuties. Glad they had a great time, my dogs wouldn't never go near that water they would just lay and watch it and be lazy or just run around like crazy and say hi to people.

What fun they had! I was really hoping Dasher would love the water but he doesn't (pool or ocean). I'm so glad that Tommy and Raven enjoyed themselves. You got some great pics, too. Looks like Raven found a good play buddy.

I was going to say it's a husky thing too. Mine won't go in water that's over a few inches deep. Although Nebo swims & Meeka swims, so who knows?

That looks like a beautiful park, and your two sure look like they're having fun! We used to live on the Mississippi in Quincy Illlinois - it's such an awesome river!

Thank you again for the wonderful comments :). Zazu's owner said he was about a year and a half old, and Raven is 8 months so they are fairly close in age. They did have such a great time. It's hard to believe yesterday it was 80 degrees and today only 52 :eek:

I have to say, it's the best feeling in the world to take Raven out and just watch her be carefree and have a blast, and not feel that sense of forboding that I had since March, wondering if her days are numbered, wondering what else she might have to go through. She can just be a joyful pup doing what dogs do and loving life. I am so very grateful. It's so easy to take such things for granted. :)
