Guess What???
If all goes as planned, I should be adopting my third dog tomorrow :D !!!! Her name will be Kaiya, and she's a wonderfully sweet (but shy) 3-year-old Doberman. Please cross your fingers folks. She only became available for adoption today, but I couldn't make it to the shelter in time and so I'm going ASAP tomorrow morning. I'm so nervous and excited. This girl is p-e-r-f-e-c-t for our family, and it would break my heart if someone else adopted her =/ TOO excited!!!
-
Oh how exciting! :D I didn't even know you were looking, my fingers are certainly crossed for you and Kaiya!
-
Oh! I kind of thought this before I opened the thread. You are going to be an awesome dobermomma!! :D
I hope it goes well!
-
How exciting! :D I hope you are able to adopt her! :D
-
I am crossing my fingers & toes for you. Good luck!
-
Oh I hope you get her! What color is she?
-
How exciting! Can't wait to see pictures of Kaiya!
-
Ohhh!!
I hope all goes well... GOOD LUCK! :D
-
Thanks everybody! I can barely eat; I'm so nervous and excited :)
K9Krazee, I wasn't expecting to add another dog either. She just ended up at the shelter where I volunteer at, and I thought, "How perfect is that?"
Kay, she's black and tan, docked tail, ears are cropped-n-flopped. Looks like the person who massacred her ears didn't have the time to tape them =/
-
CONGRATS!! do you have any pictures of her yet? maybe like a petfinder picture or something! Im crossing my fingers for you!!!
-
Ah, a happy thread. Fingers and paws crossed here for Kaiya to end up in such a great doggie household.
-
Congratulations Giselle, hope everything works out well for you.
-
ah! Congrats! That is excelent news, looking forward to pictures.
-
Can't wait to hear about her!
-
How did it go? I hope you get her.
-
:(
She got adopted yesterday, just as I feared it would be. I'm really lost as to what to do now. She was sort of my only chance of getting a third dog, and I really really felt like she was the one. *sigh* Now I'm back to the original plan of waiting 10 years. Oh well, everything happens for a reason. :(
-
Oh I am sorry Sophie...why is she your only chance? Surely another good fit will come along.
-
I am sorry she didn't work out, but why was this your only chance?
Look at this sweetie Dobie in Gilroy, CA. All natural and as cute as can be. ;)

Oh yeah, I've been lurking on Dogwork's site ever since before I got Giselle (they're a dobie/greyhound rescue :D), and Daphne definitely caught my eye.
The reason this Dobe was my only chance is because I felt like she was really the *perfect* match. My parents were vehemently against adding another dog into the household, but part of my argument was that I only wanted *this* dobergirl. If another person adopted her, I would not want any other. I kind of exaggerated to them, but part of me really feels that way. Now that she's adopted, I honestly don't know if I want another dobe. I also don't know if my parents would even let me get a different dobe. =(
-
I understand. For some reason I had always thought you lived on your own. I may be confusing you with someone else. :p
How could they resist Daphne, though? :p
(I'd freaking snatch her up in a second if I could!!)
"Since I was unable to help that Dobie, I think it was meant that I rescue and help another...."
Hehe... :p
-
Aww, Sophie, I'm so sorry! ((hugs))
Kay, I like the way you think ;)
-
I'm sorry that didn't work out, but honestly maybe she really wasn't the "right" dog for you right now. If you keep looking you and the exact right dog for you will find each other. Good luck, will keep my fingers crossed for you.
-
I'm also sorry you didn't get her, but things do happen for a reason after all.
I'm going to agree with the quote Kay posted; "Since I was unable to help that Dobie, I think it was meant that I rescue and help another...." :)
I hope everything works out!
-
Thanks everybody, your support really helps :)
Kay, LOL, if I lived alone, I would have camped out in front of the shelter Saturday night. That quote you posted is exactly what my heart is saying, but my mind is thinking otherwise. What with college and such, I suppose it was for the better that I didn't adopt this dobie.
Oh well, I believe that things always happen for a reason so we'll see. Unless there's a sign that tells me otherwise, I won't be looking, just admiring from afar :)
-
I know how you feel. Mz Logan was instantly the one for me. If I hadn't taken her that second I don't know what would have happened since the shelter was packed. I know you have to abide by your family's wishes, but really, NEVER say NEVER. As you say, things happen for a reason...... :)
-
aw Sophie... I'm sorry. :<
She sounds like an awesome dog, and I know how you feel. But, I lost a few dogs before getting Fozzie, and that was DEFINITELY for the best! Just keep looking.
I have the same dilemma... it seems like a big step between 2 dogs and 3. Are you waiting a while before getting a show Peke?
-
Yep, Erika. Going from one to two was easy. But *tripling* is definitely a harder case to win. Besides, our city draws the limit at three dogs so I want to be sure that this dog is the one.
Oh yeah, I won't even be thinking about getting my show Peke until college or sometime thereafter. I still have a lot to learn about pedigrees and the genetics of it all. Jeez, I can't wait to get out on my own! :D
