* Molly goes herding ... [11 pix]

A friend took Molly and I herding today. A treat for fostering Becky. I hadn't the slightest idea what I was doing, but it was a lot of fun! I was surprised Molly didn't cower in a corner from the sheep... she actually tried to have some fresh lamb for a snack!

My friend was nice enough to also take pix of me and my girl.. so here they are! :) (Oh yeah, don't mind my ugliness :o)

Very cool! I am assuming the rake is to keep the dog from getting too close to the sheep??

Yes, you don't even touch them with the rake. You move it towards the dog to "out" them. :)

That is so cool! There is a herding/intro to stock thing at a show that I am going to in April, and it's open to all breeds. I might try it with Nova and Buck. I bet they're just going to want to play with the sheep, but, hey, it'll still be fun to try ;)

Looks like fun! I'd love to take Tango herding one day, just to see how she'd be. She seems to have very strong herding instinct around ducks and such at the parks we go to.

They have ducks for herding at this barn too. Maybe a barn near you has them as well? Maybe Tango would like a job keeping birds off golf courses and airport runways! ;) :p

LOL! I know how you feel. Stopped by a new farm store and they had an add up about the chickens and ducks you can order and I went.. :eek: . I told Andy I wanted a baby duck. LOL!

lol! I raised a baby duck once. It was a lot of work. And a lot of poop. :eek:

No crouching or eye. She was upright (body and tail), circling the whole time, and occassionally would pop in for a nip.

I've see her crouch and do the eye at home a lot, so I was kind of disappointed she didn't apply it to the sheep. You'd think she would have. :confused:
