We picked up a stray... Big, beautiful kitty. How do I tell if it's a neutered male or a female?
If hes a big unneutered male, a quick look behind the tail will tell all.
I know there aren't any bits. (I can't believe I'm discussing this!) I think I'm leaning towards neutered male. Working on posting picture.http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/eba58f65.jpg
And the end I much prefer:

He's BEAUTIFUL!
But...umm...I am not good at this. I am leaning towards FEMALE....
We need some experts here!
I love it: HE'S beautiful, leaning towards FEMALE:)
We're calling it Kiki... sexually ambiguous;)
Wow, it's kind of blurry and a weird angle! Hmmm.... I'm guessing female. Could you get a more clear, straight from the back shot? :p
I don't know though ... there is a lot of distance between the two openings. Could be a neutered male, but usually you can still see what is left of the "bits". ;)
I've never had much luck figgerin that out ...
THREE Kats and the score is Correct = ZERO; Bad Guess = Three out of Three!

First Attempt - the Company Kat back in Pittsburgh ... rescued from the neighbor's dog.
Two Old Bitties who worked in the office next door ... "Oh, that's a lil BOY!
See - there's his Thingy!"
We had dropped "HIM" off at the Vet's for SirJury and got a call ... did we "mind"
if they did a SPAY instead of the other choice?
Next was Ranch Kat #1 ... GUARANTEED to be a lil BOY said the Horse Expert who had
several barn cats. Doc Mike thought SHE needed a Spay Job! "Fred" kept her name.
Boots came and *I* didn't have a clue ...
Off to Doc Mike's for shots and to be scheduled for a "fix" when older ...
The Office Girls said ... A GIRL for sure!
Doc must notta *looked* for himself ...
Another CALL on Sir Jury day ... "Do you Mind if we do the Other Procedure?"

I figure if the "Pros" can't get it right - WHO am I to even bother *looking*?

Thanks guys.
DH is camera man. Our batteries are almost dead... but he's going to try again. I hate calling it "it!"
I'm also one of those people that are genuinely upset when they call our girls boys.
LOL.,... the things we discuss on PT!
I'm with Kim - looks like a female to me but can't tell from the blurry photo.
Female. If it were a neutered male, the area would look like something was "pushed in".
I agree with everyone else, it looks like a little girlie girl to me too.
He or she sure is gorgeous.:) You should have the cat checked out by the vet to make sure it's in good health. Then they can tell you what sex it is too.:)
Kiki is going to the shelter with a c/p save tomorrow, to make sure s/he's not a missing kitty.
I vote female. With my boys I can see those poor empty sacs - small though they may be.
She is beautiful. Look at those gorgeous eyes!
Yes, she does have gorgeous eyes (but then we've been focusing on the other end)!
My guess is female; I thought female parts were further down!
Just an idea ;) : can you find "nipples" on 'its" tummy??
Nipples is something both sexes have- just as in humans ;)
I also think she 's a girl.
OOPS :o Do tomcats have 8 of those thingies too  . Oh oh, see, that is what happens in an "all-girls-cathouse-hold"...Quote:

;) Its a Female.. She for sure just has the two'es {pee hole & anal} Also you can tell my noteing not enough room between the pee hole & anal hole for the wittle bun buns.. A Vet taught me that & how to check as young as 3 to 4 week old babies..
Ah the things we learn on PT complete with pictures! :D
LOL, sorry my first thought of expert would be the cat itself. :pQuote:

Neutered male. VERY VOCAL! Hoping his owners find him!

Just for reference for anyone who's interested......
Here's a pix of Bear's bottom (neutered male)
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l1...1/bearbutt.jpg
and Cami's butt (female has since been spayed, tabby)
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l1...mibutt_IMG.jpg
*please disregarde the gash on Cami's leg this was the pix I took of her wound when she showed up. I took the pix to show my boss to see if it needed stitches since Cami would never be present when it was time to go to work. Happy to say her gash healed fine with only needing antibiotic cream. She was living in my garage at the time.*
I was assisting in both their spay/neuter surgeries so I'm 100% positive of their sexes.
Well, it's good you know now.
He's a very handsome cat.
