I drive three different places: school, my piano job, and my school job.
My college is about 6 miles away just west of downtown but it usually takes about 20 minutes to get there.
My piano job is in the burbs and is about 12 miles, but it takes about 25 minutes.
My school job is the closest at only 3 miles and it takes under 10 minutes to get there.
How far do you travel for work/ school?
I navigate from my bed to my kitchen to grab a cup of coffee on my way downstairs to my office, takes me about 2 minutes of travel time, although can detour up to a full 15 minutes if i forget to set the coffee pot to autobrew.
1.3 miles to my job. It's great because I can run home for lunch to take care of my furkids if need be. If one is sick or like now, with a puppy that can't go all day without going potty. ;)
That's nice...Eric and I worked from home last year and it was nice, but sometimes you need to get out of the house. The only bad thing about Eric's job was he took phone calls (he did tech support) and it got boring to listen to him, plus I had to keep the dogs quiet. I heard him so much I think I could have done his job.Quote:

HA! This is a interesting one for me... Sometimes it is a 25 to 30 minute commute but other times it has taken up to 12 hours.. We have to go where the boat is on crew change day rather it be in Baton Rouge or St. Louis or anywhere between....
25 kilometres which is about 15 miles. It's almost all highway driving though so only takes about 20 minutes. It used to take me longer to commute about 2 miles when I lived in Calgary!
30 miles to the office from my house and anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours determined by traffic. Round trip, 60 miles and 1-6 hours of sitting.
It takes me about 20 minutes to get to work, and 30 minutes to get to the college.
It takes me about 15 min. and I never run into traffic. I am actually going the opposite way from most of the traffic which is nice.
This has nothing to do with my commute, but I received this in an e-mail this evening from my brother. He thought it was cute and I have a feeling you are going to like it too. ;)

work is a 20 minuts drive from my house, but in the summer I bike to work, and that averages between 35-45 minuts each way(summer gets me in great shape lol) my dance is also a 20 minute drive from my house.. in the opposite direction from my work lol
To drive would take about 5-10mins depending on traffic, but I don't drive and have to take the bus which takes about 15-20mins. I walk during nice weather and it takes me about 45mins.
Home to work and back is about 20 miles and a half an hour in good weather. :)
I live in Anchorage and work in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. A distance of 627 miles or 1008 kilometers. I fly to work. The trip takes 1.5 hours.
School is 15 minutes walking or 5 minutes by car
Work is 15 minutes by car or 35 by bus/waliking
Riding where I am now is 45 minutes on the highway mostly
Riding at the other barn is 45 minutes away on streets with stoplights. It used to be 12. :(

about and up to thirty minutes to college and dance rehearsals, four times a week and once the weekend sometimes.
About 15 miles, and mostly highway. It takes about 20 mins.
50 miles each way so an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, sometimes a little longer depending on traffic.
I take a 45 minute coach journey to and from school. I'm not sure how many miles it is as we go on an indirect route, if I went directly, it would be 14 miles and would take 25 minutes.

I'm lucky in that I drive against the traffic so it usually takes me about 15 minutes to get to work and about 10 minutes to get home from work.:)

My school is probably about 20 miles away so it takes like a half hour to get there by car but by bus it takes over an hour...
My school is like 2 miles away, but with traffic and a retarded light that lets like 3 cars go through before it turns red, it takes up to 7 min or so. Not that long at all.
My bus to school take about 50 minutes. But that is stopping often to gather students. To get in town without stopping takes about 30-40 minutes. (depending weather it is my mom or dad who is driving :p )
I only live two miles from my school... though we're still considered "out of town"... anyway! By car, it normally takes are 3-4 minutes.
Though both my dad & my sister have to drive for almost an hour each way to get to work/college... my mum only has to drive around 20 minutes.
Our town has absolutely zero good jobs available.
65 km / 30 miles one way. I take the toll highway, so it's generally a 45min-1hr drive one way, except when theres traffic / snow / roadwork / etc.

Like Kuhio I have a commute that is over an hour, unfortunately it is an hour and fifteen minutes each way and I do it twice a day... :eek:
Thankfully most of it is on the Washington DC Metro system (i.e. the subway), so I can sit and read the paper. The worst part is that if I drove it would take closer to 2 hours because of the traffic and my proximity to the Capital Building. (I can assume you that if anything happens they shut down the building and the surrounding streets making for a REALLY ugly commute...)
I have a 35 minute commute to work and a 35 minute commute home.
Boy, if I had a 2 mile commute to work, I would walk. I'd love it and it would take me 30-35 minutes. Do you kids who have a 2 mile commute and drive to school, live in bad areas? Just curious.

Not really 'bad' areas, but areas where one would feel uncomfortable walking alone. Plus, the heat and humidty at 7:30 in the morning would make me all sweaty by the time I got to school.
