I was looking at Daisy today and her right ear looks a little swollen, is this normal? I dont know anything about it but im going to try to take her to the vet tommorrow, and her right ear is the one she always scratches, she does have her e collar on though so she cant actually touch the ear. It doesnt look infected or anything I think it is just from scratching threw the collar, anyone have any advice?
Oh no, that's not good, Tim. I feel bad for Daisy and you. I don't know much about ear cropping so my guess is as good as yours. What I would do with my dog is just keep the cone on and see if there is any cream I could put on the ear or any medication I could give her. But like I said, I don't know much about ear cropping stuff.

Swelling is never a good thing, but you are already doing the right thing
by taking her in to the Vets tomorrow. It's really best for Daisy to have the
Dr. look at it himself.Hope that clears up soon.

Yes Tim, take her to the vet. You don't want an infection to set in.

Unfortunately im not going to be able to take Daisy to the vet as planned, for the last week and a half my eye has had a haze like over it and its getting worse so i have got to go to the eye doctor today. But i did call the vet and i e-mailed him some pics of her ears to see what he thought, he has not got back in touch with me yet but i did just email hem 20 mins ago so he hasnt had time yet. umm i think u should take her to the vet! there's definately enough time in the day to take her to the vet and you to the eye doctor! I understand your health may come first but if you knew u had a haze over your eye for a week, then you should have went to the doc. before hand! She needs to go to the vet im sorry, but that wasnt very responsible if you cant tend to her needs, as it seems as though she has an infected ear and could be in alot more pain than she is putting off!
You can post a picture, if people don't want to look they don't have to. I'd be willing to take a look and just give my opinion if you want. I know you know she needs to see the vet but you need to get your eye taken care of as well if it's getting worse. I know you will take her as soon as you can. I am not in favor of ear cropping but what's done is done so no reason to hash that out, I don't want to see anything happen to her ear. I'm sure the vet will get back to you as soon as he is able. Hopefully it's nothing serious and perhaps he can get her some antibiotics if she needs it.
by all means please get to her the vet as soon as you can! :(
I would say a bit antibiotic/pain killer.......and some antiseptic to clean the ears.........iīd say you can use kins of neosporin (iīve heard) but if you can find some powder stuff........so it doesnīt gets moistened....

I'm not sure what to do in a case like this either. I guess it would depend on how swollen they actually are and what they look like. Are they raw, change in color, etc....
I am also not a fan of ear cropping because of the fact that many problems can arrise from ear cropping but I do respect other peoples opinions & choices. What's done is done and we are here for you in times of need.

Tim, a good veterinarian would not do a check up through photos. After you get your eyes checked, you should call the vet and schedule an appointment for the day after or as soon as possible.
The neosporin may help a little, but Daisy's ears need to be looked at through the naked eye of the veterinarian.

I know if it were my vet & I could not get there in time & I was just there with my pet I'd want my vet to help me in any way shape or form.
Most vets won't even speak to you on the phone, they have their techs & recetionists do it for them. I think you've got a great vet.

Also, I know what those kinda situations can be like (your eye situation) you know it's coming but you just gotta wait and see if it gets worse and today just happened to be the day that it needed to be checked on, which also was the day you planned on taking Daisy in, sometimes somethings just can't be helped.
My husband works third shift and everyone always forgets he needs to sleep too! I am sure that if you didn't feel comfortable with the vets answer you would of taken her in. I hope her ears continue to heal without any problems. My daughter has a lazy eye and we only noticed it in May and by July(when the specialist could finally get her in) she was having a hard time with her vision. She nows wears glasses all the time and is doing fine.
Thank You All for your replies, I to think that Dr.Watson is a good vet he called me on his cell phone on his dinner break. I told him I had sent the pictures and didnt know if he would look at them after I came back from the doctor I called him what I didnt know is he even took the time to call me back, he had talk to my brother in law. I do appreciate everyones opinion but I think that he can look at a picture and tell if anything is wrong with it. If anyone wants to see the pics i can send them to u but they r close up of a ear that has been cut, they look bad to me because i was afraid to wash them and they are dirty and show scabbing so if you are weak stomached dont ask for them. Good luck with your eye problem, Tim. Are you able to get glasses soon? They will help alot. It's so easy to overreact to things you're not sure about and haven't seen before. It's wonderful that the vet even called back twice. He probably realizes how hard it is or you to get there. Both of my sons work nights, too. There are times it's days before they can schedule anything during daytime business hours. It's important to keep a regular sleep schedule. Give that Daisy girl of yours a big hug for me, I hope her ears keep healing.
