Flowerfestival in my town!

My region is worldknown for cultivating flowers like begonia and azalea. Half of the people here work either at Volvo (large assembly factory here) or in florist's business! There used to be a huge flowerfestival every year. But the cost was getting to high, so it does no longer happen.

Last weekend, my neighbourhood decided it was time to give the festival a revival. So they made this gorgeous flower blankets, with theme "Countries of the European Community". There was also a balloon contest (15 hot-air balloons!!)

90% is begonia!
Every year there is also a flowercarpet on the Grand Place of Brussels! All flowers there come from my town!

ps. It is so great to bike through my village; everywhere you see florist businesses and greenhouses :) ! This is amazing as we are only 10 km away from the centre of Ghent, a large town!
