I was 24, he was 24. We just got married October 05.
Paul and I got married the summer we both turned 22. It was the right time for us, but I think every couple is different.
It seems so strange to me I'm 25 and I feel like I'm way too young to be married! Although it seems like I'm almost married. I live with my partner and in August I will be adding Alexa to my benefits at work (she is graduating college and won't be on her parents insurance anymore). When people younger then me talk of getting married I always think it's too young! I don't know why I think that way, maybe I'm just immature :)
I was 2 months before my 25th birthday, Ralph just passed his 26th.
I was 24 and my X was 31.
It was last year, and I was 22 and he was 25. :) We'd already been together for 3 years before then, though so we didn't rush in too soon!
The first time I got married, I married my highschool "sweetheart" and we got married at 22, right after we graduated from college. We were married for almost 9 years, and then I was single for almost 10 years. My second (and best) marriage was when I was 40 and my husband was 35. I robbed the cradle! :o

Now, it seems to me that 20 is very young. I guess many are waiting until later these days also. It was the right time for us and like Karen said - every couple is different.
I was 26, Stuart was 32. I comptemplated marriage once before Stuart when I was younger. I am so glad I didn't get married then. I got to do alot of things, go alot of places, meet people, finish 2 degrees, ect, ect, lots of things I couldn't have done or that would have been way more difficult if I was married. Now when I look at Stuart I know he was the right choice and I never wonder "what if" or "what would that be like?".
Worked out for the other man too--he's happily married now to a lovely lady and has three beautiful children.
I was 17 and Tim 21 dated for 3 years before. Now 27 years later of marraige still going strong and soon (any day grandparents) from our 24year old married daughter.
I was a few weeks short of my 23rd birthday. He was 23. That was almost 16 years ago.
He was my high school sweetheart and we dated for almost 6 years before we got married.
I was 17 and Troy was 29. It was August 8th of last year. We'd been together for two years, prior. :)
I had just turned 21.
I turned 26 two weeks before. Josh turned 26 three weeks before.
We both were 23, and that is now almost 27 years ago :eek: :)
On our big day, I was 22 and hubby was 32!:D Next month will be our 7yr anniversary!!! we have been together for over 10yrs!!!

I was 28. At the time I thought it was old and I'd never get married. In retrospect it gave me tiem to figure out who I was and what I wanted. there's no way I would be happy now with the guys I dated in my early 20's! LOL

I was 44 years old when I got married. We've been married going on 8 years this coming Oct 3rd.
I'm 14 1/2 yrs older than hubby. This is my first and my last marriage ;)
I will be 52 yrs old next week. Hubby is 38 yrs old.

There are to many people in my generation who are working on second/third/and even 4th hubbys because they got married to young in their 20's.
I was 22 and he was just shy of 24. It'll be 6 years this October. We got married less than a year out of college and didn't start dating until our last year there. We'd been friends the entire time though.
WOW! My husband's sister has been dating a guy who is 38 and she is also 52. I thought she was the only one in the world who was in that type of relationship. What did your/his family think? I know somehow it is not as acceptable when the woman is older than the man although I never did understand that really. :rolleyes:Quote:

I was married eight days shy of my 18th birthday. My ex husband was 20. We've been divorced since 1999, though...David better be my next husband, and, I'll be sure to let you know when that happens, I'm sure I'll be at least 30 by that point. ;)

I was 44 when I got married. I think the notion of older women/younger man is really starting to fade into the woodwork so to speak. Our families were thrilled. We were both mature adults and knew what we wanted out of life, our familes could see that in our relationship. People who meet us today accept us like any other married couple.Quote:

I didn't think I was too young but I did think Christy was - I think that is a mom talking!!!! Amy (Cincy's Mom) had graduated college and was "out on her own" for a year before she and Ralph married. I think that was a good idea as I went straight from my parents to Carl and think both Christy and I could have benefitted from being on our own for awhile. I think you grow in maturity and self-esteem if you live on your own for a time.
I was *on my own* for quite a while before I got married at 30. Even though those were some lonely years for me, it did enhance my independence and confidence in myself. My husband was 40 at the time of our marriage, had been married before and was the father of a teenage daughter.
I would certainly advocate that a woman be self-supporting and live on her own for a while before marriage. I believe it makes it possible for her to be more of her own person in the marriage.

I was 44! And like Lgoan and Craftlady....I was a cradle robber. Interesting that three marriage with mature brides...the husband was younger.....
I was 29 and we had lived together for 7 years. it is our 20th wedding anniversery next year.
My closest neighbors are another couple like this. The husband is actually very close to the same age as his wife's son from her first marriage. She is in her late 60's. He's 40. They've been married for almost 10 years. They are without a doubt, the happiest, most devoted, loving couple I've ever seen. They truly adore each other. Their families were a little freaked out at first, but everyone gets along well now. Love knows no boundaries. If it works, who cares about the age numbers!??Quote:

I was almost 28 and he had just turned 24. The four years between our ages was not a problem, it was the wide gulf in our world experience that had a dramatic impact. I had lived away from home for 10 years, travelled and worked in several other countries, and had a lot of experience in handling things alone. He'd been in school for 19 years, was about to enter 4 more, and was utterly miserable living in England for a few years. I was looking for a life-partner, I believe now that he was looking for a substitute mom.
