Must Find Home for the Love of My Life

I live in Ohio and have a gorgeous pure bread, AKC registered German Shepherd that I must find a home for. "Bear" is a neutered two year old who is a gentle giant (120lbs) as you can see by the photo. I have been with him since he was born and deciding to find him a new home has been an agonizing decision. Bear grew up in the country and due to a divorce I had to move into a smaller home in the City. Although he has adjusted quite well, he has torn my fence down several times out of boredom. He needs room and it is just not fair to him. He is extremely intelligent and obiedient, loves children and other animals. He has been an indoor dog. He is not to be chained up, left outside, or used as a guard dog. I love this dog very much and want someone who has time and room for this awesome pet.

Bear is a gorgeous boy. It's so sad that you have to re-home him. Your heart has to be breaking. I'm so sorry. Best of luck in finding him a new, loving, home.

Check into your area GSD rescue. They will be able to rehome him to an appropriate forever home. They can help!

My heart is breaking for you. I wish I could help - I just wanted to say that I think that you are making the decision that is best for Bear, as hard as it may be for you. Good luck finding him a forever home!

oh i just LOVE german shepards!! I live with my boyfriend and his parents now, and we are moving in july. Im not sure if he would go for it, we dont have a fence in our yard, but its a SMALL town and lots of dogs stay in the yards, would Bear be able to stay in a yard without a fence. I do live in minnesota...thats kinda far away :confused:

He is a very handsome boy. I sure wish I could adopt him but I have 3 of my own already. Good luck and Bear will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Just wondering how this all turned out.Was a GSD Rescue group ever contacted ? Where is this dog now?

I too would like to hear what happened with this dog. I just learned of a GSD rescue near where I live and I would be happy to get you the conact info if you if you are still looking for someone to take the dog.

Still haven't found a home. A friend is interested, but no word yet. I guess I haven't pursued this really hard because I am very torn and afraid if he goes to someone I don't know I will not know how he is being treated.

Where in Ohio are you? We live inthe Toledo area and I know there are options here for doggy daycare, and in home visits. There are also 4 dog parks within 1 to 1 1/2 hours from us. Maybe there is something in your area as well, that will give him a chance to get a bit more exercise andmake the other days easier, so that you don't have to rehome him.

Well, I'm glad Bear is still with you. :) I think it wouldn't matter if other
people treated him kindly, he would still miss you a lot.He would never
understand why you weren't there anymore.He is an awesome looking
dog. What is his personality like?

I'm so sorry to hear the unfortunate news of having to relocate Bear. I myself own 2 German Shepherds and I couldn't imagine life without either of them. My wife and I believe to a local Shepherd Rescue (http://www.nobleshepherdrescue.com/) and I'm certain they would be happy to list Bear as a Shepherd needing a "Forever Home". If they are unable to assist you, I'm sure they'll be able to set you up with your local Shepherd Rescue organization. Good Luck and I'll be praying for both you and Bear.
