Where in Michigan are you? The past few years some of us have gotten together at a really nice dog park on the north side of Detroit.
I'm located near Lansing, MI and Kia loves to play.
Let me know if you want to set up a play date! :D
I'm near Lansing also, I'd be interested :D
I'm about 5 min from the Michigan border, if there's a meet-up let me know!! :D
i wish i could make it, but it's just a lil too far for me. :(
corner of northwestern Ohio here.. I'd love to go, but I doubt parents would allow it. :(
I am about 4hrs from the ohio border i am two hrs from Saginaw..
I would love it if some of us could get together there is a beach in my town where dog's can swim and there is lot's of room on the beach..
Two hours north, south, east, or west of Saginaw?
Lake Orion is south of Flint and that is where the Dog Park is that Amy mentioned. It has an open field area and a dock at the lake access for dogs to swim too. :)
A beach with dogs allowed sounds like fun!
I'd be game some weekend. :)
Ummm i think its south cause i am in a town called oscodaQuote:

Oscoda! Oh no dear, you are actually north of Saginaw. Way north. :DQuote:

It's very gorgeous up there but we don't get up there that often because I live 3 and a half hours away. But I think my parents are camping at Tawas again this summer and I plan to head up there for a weekend. If I do, I'll keep in touch and maybe we can meet up!
Here's a photo of Kia (and me) in Lake Huron at Tawas State Park.

She just loves the lakes. :D
Hey Kimmy, if we come up for the memorial weekend bash in Ohio, we'll be staying in Holly, MI. Is there anywhere close to you or the park with the lake? If so, we'll have to go together!! (and anyone else who wants to, of course!)
Hey Kay Ann!
Holly, MI is not far from Lake Orion which is where the Bark Park is and where I host Kia's birthday parties.
It's a good size dog park with lake access. Unfortunately there is no beach but a single dock with ramps for the dogs to get in and out of the water.

My parents have a cottage near Grayling and Kalkaska tho 2 hours north of Saginaw might be a bit far for me in central ohio - doesn't sound like it's too far from their place.
Yup its over 2 hours from their place.
How far away is Holly, MI from me?? :o I will find out...
I really don't think I can go to Ohio for the Bash :( Soo I'd love to try to make it to the park!!
*edit* Only about an hour and 15 minutes!! Woohoo!!!! I'm totally game :D
Well - Kimmy, Ashley, anyone else wanna meet *someday* at the park Kimmy is talking about. I only say that one because it had the lake and we all know how much Kiki loves the water! Any other park is fine too, but I'd love one with a lake!
If anyone wants to, Kimmy could you please post a link to their website with address and all?
I don't know the area that well so I don't know what another good park would be.
Kia and I simply adore the Bark Park though. We'd love to meet up there!
There isn't a specific street address to the Bark Park, it just gives the cross streets were the county park is located. There is a PDF file map though that can give you an idea of where to go. :)

I may also be able to come out on Wednesday, May 24th. I'll be flying home from Colorado late Tuesday night, so I think I took Wednesday off but I have to double check with HR.

Here's how to get a MapQuest MAP or Travel Directions
to the Orion Oaks Bark Park:
Go to http://www.MapQuest.com
Use this address for either a MAP or as the DESTINATION for a set of driving Directions:
Address block = 1300 Joslyn Rd
City block = Lake Orion
State = MI
Zip = 48360
Good Ole MapQuest will draw you a Map, or Plot a Route;
with the destination Star pretty close to the parking lot driveway! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif
/s/ Phred
Okay, so lets meet up on the 27th? :)
Kimmy, it said something about Fees... how strict are they on that?
They say we need it prior to arrival but how would be go about doing that?
How strict? REAL Strict!!Quote:

On weekends, a Deputy in a marked cruiser usually makes a pass through the
Bark Park parking lot every two hours ... no "Pass" on the window or mirror -
and he'll get out and write a TICKET - which costs a LOT more than a Daily Pass!
Posted Prices:
Motor Vehicle Day Use Fees
Valid at Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks, Independence Oaks, Lyon Oaks,
Orion Oaks and Rose Oaks.
$5 per car per day: Oakland County resident discount rate
$10 per car per day: Regular rate (OUT-of-County vehicles)
$3 per car per day (weekday only): Senior Citizen
$7 per vehicle after 5:00 p.m.: Special Fireworks Fee
Last few years, on weekends, there has always been a Park Employee sitting in a vehicle
at the Parking Lot Entrance - who greets every car that doesn't have a Yearly Pass.
The "advertised cost" of an OUT-of-County car Daily Use Pass is $10.00 -
BUT for the last three years the guy has ALWAYS accepted a $5.00 bill as payment.
Give him $5.00 and he gives you a Hang-Tag for your mirror -
insures that the Partol Deputy drives past without writing a Ticket!
If you don't want to pay the $5.00 fee - you can get away with parking in the
Elementary School Parking Lot - across the road and north about 1/4 mile -
on the right (east side) of Joslyn Road.
Park in a MARKED parking spot - NOT on the grass or on the driveway!!
The walk-in gate to the Bark Park is across the road from the School.
Best place to "meet" is inside the Bark Park - at or near the "Water Pump" -
located between the two main areas of the Bark Park.
I've been using Google Maps lately. Forgot Mapquest will let you do that. :o
Pretty much what Phred said, Kay Ann. Lately there has been a Park Ranger at the entrance to sell daily parking passes.
If he's not there, and you park in the lot, you risk getting a parking ticket if they patrol it later.
In the past, Andy and I have parked in the school lot with no problems. :)
So, is this for sure? May 27th at Orion Oak Bark Park - say noon?
Ashley, are you coming for sure? :) Anyone else?
Yup, I've marked the calendar! I will definately be there and dragging my mother along too, lol! :D :D
Noon sounds great!
And I will most likely only bring Jack (but maybe Shadow too). I'm nervous, he has never been to a dog park before...and I'm sure he'll turn into a greedy little toy hogging jerk... :o :o
I'm certain! Noon it is then. Anyone else have cell phones? It's a pretty big park with two entrances.
There are few loose toys at this dog park, but not a lot. Mostly tennis balls left behind.
Many bring their and leave with their own toys. :)
I don't have a cell. :( Does everyone just want to meet in the school's parking lot?
Ashley, You MUST bring Shadow!!!
oh come on someone from Michigan must wanna meet my beauitful golden child Madison and me and have a fun filled day
Hey, didn't you see? We're meeting in MI on the 27th!Quote:

GoldenLuv, I realize the Bark Park is 3 and a half hours south of where you live, but I still hope you can make it down.
If not, I'll be up in your area sometime this summer when my parents go to Tawas. :)
Oh I wish I could come, but it's to far from me :(
GoldenLuv if you want to come to Indiana, I have a dog beach down the street from me.
