Prayers for Bella?
Can I ask you all to say a little prayer for my son's family cat Bella. She had a big swelling on the side of her face which the vet thinks is the result of a cat bite (she is an inside/outside cat). It has been drained (horrible, smelly stuff my son & dil tell me) and she has had the required needles. But there is a danger of further infection so the vet has kept her in so he can keep an eye on her.
Thanks
Chris

Prayers on the way Chris. Poor Bella...that must be painful. :(
-
Thanks so much slick. They tell me she was such a brave girl, the only time she made a noise, a growl, was when she had a second injection.
-
Prayers for Bella! May she recover and learn to stay out of fights!
-
Many prayers being sent for Bella. Hope she recovers soon and stays out of further fights!
-
Get well soon, Bella. I remember my cat Sam from years ago had a nasty abscess right on his face like that. Antibiotics cleared it right up and it healed quickly. Abscesses are scary!
-
Bella sweetheart, I hope that nasty swelling goes away soon, and with no further infection either!
My mum's cat once had an abcess that ruptured. Absolutely revolting. The vet thought that it was the result of a cat bite too.
-
Prayers on the way for Bella. :)
-
Poor girl..I will be praying :(

Bella, I will be praying for your recovery; poor girl, it must hurt terribly.
Those abcesses are awful. Stay inside, sweet thing. :(

A little update. Bella is still at the vets. They were told this morning that she could come home but when they got there this afternoon the vet she should stay. The hole in her cheek where all the stuff came out is much bigger today and still more gunge has come out. She is still on a drip, which I presume is to keep her hydrated (sp?). The vet said she has improved a little though obviously she is not out of the woods by any means yet.
Thanks again for all your prayers and good wishes. I hope I have a better report for you tommorow

Oh my! Poor little Bella! I sure hope she continues to improve and is home soon!
-
Thanks Sara and Debbie. :)
I'm glad to say she is now home. :D I only caught a glimpse of her while she was in the car and couldn't see her wound but she certainly seemed quite perky.
Still a way to go though. The wound has to be flushed out a couple of times a day so as to get rid of the remaining 'stuff', the wound can't be stitched until it has all gone. Jayne (dil) is not sure if she will be able to do it alone (let's just say the rest of the family is rather unwilling to help) in which case Bella will have to go back to the vets for a while. I don't think Bella will mind that much, she and one of the nurses have really taken to each other. :D
Thanks once again for all your prayers and good thoughts, I'll continue to keep you posted.

Oh, Chris, I have been there and done that (as the saying goes).
My Rascal loves a good fight - and he used to come home looking tattered but none the worse. Until a few days later out popped the worst abscesses.
Some I was able to handle on my own - but others simply needed stitches and antibiotics.
Cleaning the wound (if she will let you) isn't really all that bad..........I used Hydrogen Peroxcide on a cotton ball. Rascal wasn't thrilled, but he knew I was trying to help him so he didn't give me a lot of guff.
I too, hope they keep Bella indoors. Rascal is now housebound as well, I just simply got tired of dealing with the wounds. (and not to mention the expense - my vet now owns half a city block).
-
Glad to hear she is back home now.
Best of luck to your DIL. I remember how difficult it was to flush out Ripley's wound when he was shot with an arrow. I did a bad job and let it scab over and had to rush him back to the vet to have it reopened and cleaned out. It was hard to tell it was sealed over because the scab was clear and you could still see the inside, if you know what I mean. Not fun!

Thanks Lori & Gini.
They gave Jayne a syringe and instructions on what to do and although difficult I'm sure she could do it with a little help. The vet has told her how important is is to get the remainder of the gunge out and I know she will do her very best. Poor girl she is such a worrier and it hangs heavy on her if you can understand what I mean.
As for keeping her indoors, I am positive they will until she is well again but after that I am not sure. Bella has been and indoor/outdoor cat all her life, as are most cats over here, adjusting to a permanent indoor life would not be easy for her, and, dare I say, maybe not even fair.

Glad to hear that Bella is back home. I'm glad that she bonded with one of the nurses as this must have been easier on her stress level of being at the vets.
I don't envy your DIL having to clean out the wound, but I know she will do her best. It gives me the heebies just thinking about it, but I guess you have to do what you have to do when it comes to our babies.
Good luck to her and I hope that Bella will be a very co-operative patient.
I pray that Bella has a full and speedy recovery.

More prayers for Bella from us in Maine.I hope she recovers soon.

I am glad that bella is home now, and feeling better.
I feel for your dil, having to clean the wound. I hope Bella realizes that she is trying to help and is cooperative!
More prayers that Bella continues to get better.

Thanks!
I am happy to report that Bella is doing much better today. :D She is eating and drinking with vigour and she even was at the back door wanting out! Jayne has managed to do the flushing out, although she is not sure she is doing it right, I expect she is though. Paul, my eldest grandaughters boyfriend, helped her last night, Dannielle helped her this morning and she did it on her own this afternoon. She, Bella, tried to scratch her cheek earlier so that is worrying, but I still have the cone-collars from when Ebby was sick so she can borrow one if need be.
Many thanks to you all for the continuing prayers. {{hugs}}

Oh, I am so glad Bella is doing better! Poor girl has had a tough time (and her Meowmie, too).
That's good news about her eating well and acting more normally.
I'll still keep praying for both of them.......hugs!

I am so glad to hear how well Bella is doing. YYYAAAYYY!!!!!!!
It's also good to know that your DIL has help with the flushing out of the wound.
Bella, sweetie, please do NOT scratch at your boo-boo. You don't want to land up having that e-collar on you, now do you???? I didn't think so. :)
I hope that it isn't too hard on her having to stay inside. But it is so important to let the wound close up completely before venturing back outside.
Prayers still on the way that Bella has a full and complete recovery.
