I'm glad your doing this the human way instead of killing something:) Sorry I got all dark animals though.you should try going down to your local dog groomer and ask for the hair.
Sorry no white fur here either, hope you get some though!
I have ALOT of white hair. I'll try to get some for you, but I'll have to ask my parents first.
I'm sure we'll have some when the huskies blow their coats. Most of them have white undercoats.
Sure, I would be glad to get rid of some of this hair. How soon will you need it? Also may I ask why you say in a paper bag? It is not a problem, but since you asked for that specifically I just thought I would be nosey and ask why. :)
If kept in a plastic bag it cause the wool to mat and felt unspinable. It has to breathe becouse it is a "living" product. Paper allows it to breathe also helps any orders disapate.
Buttercup I spin my own yarns and you use the undercoat just as in sheep wool. I never kill an animal just for wool. I do get combings from taxidermy shops from there rugging process but they are there becouse of some other reason not me.
Oh Glacier I would love a mix of the gang up there . I have an idea for a black (what else with the goof troop) and white yarn for a sweater coat.
I'll see if I can get enough to send to you. Mandy is a shedding machine but dogs don't really blow coat down here in FL, so I'm not sure if I'll have enough worth sending. It's about time to groom her though, so I'll see what I can get.
Thanks when you all get ready to send pm me i'll send you address.
Nova is a cream color, would you want her fur too? Most people think she's white until you see her next to Mandy, then you can tell that she's not. I don't think it would be noticeable if it was mixed in with the white fur though.
I can always send it and let you decide if you want to use it or not. :)
Sure I can make a varigated cream and white yarn.
DOH!!
I could have gave you at least a couple of handfuls off my dog from
his furcut i gave him a while back. but its long gone now. :(
be sure to post pictures of your project when its done. :D
Bella has white fur but it's fuzzy and curly. I am going to be taking her coat down a little sometime this week but will probably only be taking about 1/2" off. I guess you need a longer length to work with?
My Bella is going to the groomers this week for her summer buzz cut. I can ask the groomer to save the clippings for you, but she is quite matted in places.
Would that still work?
I have two white dogs, I would be happy to save it. Sounds a bit weird though :p ;)
Poodle hair any length is great
zoomer I'm needing the under coat so if the boxers shed it's great. Most people at first think it's strange but think about it wool is just the under coat , I have made several items for pet talkers. hats scarfs, even add ons to picture frames.
I spin it and the knit the items. Finally getting a project for me.
Here's a sweater that Corinna sent to me:

It's made from English Sheepdog fur, I think. It's unbelievably warm. I'm comfortable in it at -30C!
I also have a hat made by a different cyber-friend out of my dogs' fur. I can only wear it when it's very cold. Now I understand how the dogs can be toasty warm in extreme temperatures!
Glad to see you still use the sweater It was just too much for me here I'm going to use thinner yarns for a sweater coat for me. And not a tunic so i can take it off more.
yes that was old english except the collar it was Lady our newfy girl.
Sorry no white fur here! Only Black and Tan, and Red! I think it would be neat to have a sweater or coat, or jacket or something out of dog's fur though! Can't wait to see what you make :)
I have mixed colored dogs so I don't think that would help. That is great that you do that though seems like fun!
Tango and Winter's chests are white and I usually strip both of them around May or so just because they're going to lose all of that fur anyway and stripping them makes it go away quicker instead of having hair everywhere in the house for a couple months...but I'm not sure if that's too late or if you'd get enough out of it....
I can always use any size package . I love having every ones specail frend with me . Just pm me when ready to send.
Oh man, if you have a Peke breeder near you, you should really ask them for their fur. Lucky isn't blowing his coat at the moment, but Peke fur would be *perfect* for your project :)
I have all kinds of local people I could ask but I thought it would be nicer to have freinds fur .
I have another question. :) How much fur does it take to make something like that sweater? I guess my thought is you really aren't going to get a lot of yarn from, say, a grocery bag full of hair. Or are you?
If you have seen some of the scarfs i have made for some of the gals here I used a bread sack full for those. they are useally about 4-6 inches wide and 5-6 ft long.a groecery bag stuffed would make a short sweater or vest.
can it be a cat?
Here's an example... my Mandy scarf by Corinna :)Quote:

Gosh you guys I didn't realize how many projects I have done for so many of you. If no one minds I am doing a spinning show at the preschool story hour can I take the pictures of the projects to share with the kids?
Wow, that is really nice. And I am really surprised to hear that it doesn't take more hair than that. That is great.
That's fine with me Corinna! :DQuote:

my Ninja has a LOT of white, but she has some reds too iŽll see what i can do, i would bother you later if you dont mind.........
i have one question though, regardless of sounding dumb ,do you need freshly bathed fur?? or do you wash it previous to use?? my girls DO need a bath desperately and i wanted to make sure :p
Well Molli has some white fur... but I don't think Poodles blow their coats. Good Luck with your project!
Kai and Kae have a fair bit of white on them. Kai loses tons of fur when he sheds too so I'll definitely put aside the whites for you :)
Thank you every one I will have a pet talk sweater for sure.
No I wash the yarn after I spin it, that way I make sure all the skin particales are gone. Thats what makes a dog stink not the hair .
I don't have any white animals otherwise I'd be love to help you with your project.
I was wondering, have you ever made anything out of chinchilla fur? I have 3 chinchillas and they shed like crazy. I'd love to have a scarf out of their fur.
Oooh, I'll have to try to get a picture of the gorgeous hat you made for me! It saved my ears this winter!! ^_^
actually yes i did a small scarf for my daughters doll when we had 6 chins. I know how they shed the spinning drove me nuts. If I ever do any more I will use a base core for the spinning. If you would like it done pm me .
