After talking with my brother and considering all of the issues at hand I realized that Emily had one paw in another dimension already. I didn't think it would be today, but for some reason my packed day became light and easy after the first two errands. (Two students cancelled, so I knew what I needed to do.)
She went peacefully and fast. She had so little meat and fat on her that the sleepers knocked her out in a minute. This is the first time I've stayed with an animal until the end. I buried her in the back yard.
I miss her. She had such a personality and was a fighter. A typical Tortie Diva. I'll miss her begging food from me, even after she just ate.
I'll miss you, Emily. I wish I could have done more for you.
Her favorite perch before she got sick.
