I am facinated with the ads in Dogs In Review magazine, so using all that I have observed, I created one for my favorite dog.

what do you guys think? I also wanted to practice a bit on others dogs. I am asking WDLB too.
Not so sure about the background border colors, but otherwise its really good. The font at the top though is really hard to read :(

Taht little extra curl on the end of the w throws me off and keeps making me think its supposed to be an e lol

i second what jessika said, it took me a while to get the name right, and the backgroun i feel is a little off, but all other is great, maybe play a little with colors.........

I liked the "Newt..." a lot, but oh well, good thing you guys weren't clients! I'll go back and change the w a bit and see what that looks like. I made that layer style (clear like that) by following a tutorial.
Here's what I was thinking when I made it
1. Catch the eye with something big/unique on the top or bottom and by centering it a bit differently
2. Make whatever caught your eye guide it to the dog, and have the dog reall stand out
you can still have the NEWT curved but not so tight........
I think it is really good for your first time!!!!!! ;) Make some more and show us!!!!

I think you should make the border and the writing at the bottom match, or make one of them a solid colour, there are to many contrasting patterns.
