What great pictures Micki!
Excuse me if I sound a little out of the loop, but what does Abigail have to go through for her treatment that she won't be able to play for 6 weeks?

Hi Anna! :) She's heartworm positive and after they give her the injection, she must remain calm and still for a minimum of 6 weeks. After the very painful injection kills the worms in her heart, the worms must still be pumped out of the heart. If she gets excited or has any activity at all, the heart will pump faster, expelling more dead worms. That can cause a blocked artery and death. :( The first 2 weeks are the most critical time for this so we decided to board her. She HATES her crate and my terriers get her very excited so we thought it best to board her for the most important time.
When she comes home, it's into the guest room in her crate. 24/7 for 4 weeks. She only goes out on a leash to potty and right back in. She's going to hate me, but it's for her own good. We think she's less than a year, so this is a treatment that must be done. If and old dog, say Aneko's age, gets heartworm they don't treat it this way. An older dog would most likely die a natural death before the heartworms killed it.
