Dandy is naughty!! ;)
I always thought that it would be my son who would be the one tearing his wall border off of the walls from his crib...well, it's not him, but....my sweet little Dandy!! She has decided that she wants to redecorate my son's bedroom...and she has started by peeling (or should I say ripping, tearing, shredding) his wall border off of the walls!! She jumped up onto his changing table and tore it up...it seems as though, she must still have a little kitten in her and is maybe younger than we thought, when we got her from the shelter...b/c she definatly does "kittenish" type things...but that's okay...b/c we still love her...
Just had to share her first naughty deed :( ;)
Robyn
Anyone else have an animal that gets the urge to redecorate all of the sudden...and tears the walls apart!! ;)

My cats don't tear the wallpaper but they certainly redo the upholstry on my furniture :D

I have torn wallpaper too! This is weird, I was going to post about this (with a picture) of the big tear I found behind the door tonight.
I think it started when Bo found a bug on the wall. There are a bunch of little slits - definitely from claws. Then when I shut the door in the room, I saw a huge tear - I was wondering where the paper I found in the cat room the other night had come from. I suspect Hanna found a spot and went to town - she loves to carry things around.
I'm kind of glad it is wrecked - I didn't really like that wallpaper pattern anyway. Now I have a good excuse to redo it. Now if only I could get them to rip it all off, saving me the trouble....

Maybe sweet dandy is jealous - or just doesn't like the decor *laughs*.
To stop the redecorating fad - get some white vinegar and dilute it a little with water.
Place in waterpistol.
Squirt it on her when you see her doing it.
Works a treat!
Added bonus - works for unwanted guests as well!
:D :D :D

I just take plain water. The best method is if Kitty doesn't see where it comes from.
Tigris ruined our sofa when he was a kitten. Now if a new piece of furniture comes in and when I see him starting the big scratch I either try the water method. Or I pick him up and carry him to the scratching post.

when we moved into our house, the previous owners had this hideous blue and white striped wallpaper all over the kitchen. So my cats decided to start tearing it down, which was actually a big help for us!!

Hurray!! A Nawtee Kitty - proving it's an interior designer too!!
Great story Robyn! Thanks.

I'm still a kitten...
Mom,
I am still a kitten. I promise not to be bad again. Right!

I have already decided - for my apartment I won't have wallpaper, I will just color my walls. Juni doesn't do it on purpose, but, behind the couch where she "flies" after her favorite toys when fetching, it's a mess. The wallpaper is shredded.

Diamond, Pixel and former foster Mittens loved to stretch and scratch along the door jamb. Clueless mommy finally got them a TALL scratching post. There are a few "distressed" marks on the woodwork, though. Aren't those supposed to be valuable?:p

Rocky has done the same thing to our back bathroom wall too..I can be quite aggrivating~
-
Bob ripped some wallpaper off my wall too, he`d found a loose piece and had a ball! Oh, and Bob is a dog! He was just a puppy at the time though. I guess I have the redecoration that Ebony is maybe going to do to look forward to now!:D

Our Noel wants to be a carpet layer when she grows up....she sure is good at trying to remove it from ever corner she can find!

Ritz went through a similar "obsession" with a spot on the wall just above the second step of our staircase. We don't have wallpaper, but she somehow managed to peel back the first layer of the paper that covers sheetboard!!!
We tried EVERYTHING, even the "water spray", which worked for nearly everything else, and she just INSISTED that she had to keep digging at this, even after an attempt to repair it. We finally had to temporarily tape a panel of wood over it so she would forget about it (and not dig a hole into the next room) and finally she lost interest. WE have been able to remove the board and she no longer bothers the 'spot'...
who knows what goes through their furry little heads?
