It sounds promising that they might be able to treat his heart condition with medication.
As always lots of prayers for Phred to get well soon.

Phred, will be keeping you in my prayers.
Willie
I'm still thinking of Phred every minute and wish him nothing but the best. How frustrating it must be for him to still be stuck in that hospital. Of course it's the best place for him so I hope he has the patience for it. Thanks for the uppydates everyone. GET WELL PHRED!!!! We love and miss you! :)
Still thinking of you Phred. *HUGS*
I've asked for a few additional prayers for you, Phred, through an online prayer group that my husband handles. You have mine, for sure.
Hang in there and GET WELL SOON!!!!
Logan
Hang in there Phred!!!
Yes, rather disappointing day, but things are still progressing. The procedure didn't get him all fixed up, but it sounds like it did give the docs a better idea of what they're up against so they know better how to proceed.
Still hoping and praying for the best!
Any hope of maybe Phred getting to go on a "field trip"? Even if it's only to outside the hospital? Then his friends can bring the trio by for a little reunion. Poor pups must be so confused as to what happened to their dad. :(
on the phone with disgruntled patient right now. He is rather disappointed with what happened yesterday but says that they are going to try to help it with medicine at this point. He might be a candidate for pacemaker at some point. I asked if he was able to have a bypass and he said that he wasn't sure about that b/c of the recovery time was extensive? Is this true? I have no idea. Just from your replies here it sounds as tho there are several people just here that know people that have had bypasses.
He said he would try to check in tonite to let me know if he gets released tomorrow. :)
Tell him we're all thinkin' of him! And my friend Edward lived for a long time with a pacemaker, my neighbor Charlie (former firefighter) did, too!
I'm having problems understanding what a pacemaker and bypass surgery have in common. Bypass surgery corrects a blocked artery, right? Pacemakers regulate the heartbeat. Two totally different things. I'm sure Phred will set us all staright when he is back online. As long as his doctors have it straight, I'm not worried!
Bypass surgery does have a bit of a long recovery, Staci, as it is open heart surgery. My mother had open heart surgery for another issue and it was probably six weeks before she could really start functioning again.
Thanks for updating us, folks.
Logan
More prayers on the way... I've just sent an e-card.... ***hugs***
Not sure that the recovery time being extensive should rule this out if this is what he needs. Better to be functioning for the long run. I'm wishing that he could have been gone to a large teaching hospital. This whole thing breaks my heart.Quote:

We hop that whatever is best in the long run is what they'll do. A long recovery time is hard to deal with, but better than not feeling your best, and having the possibility of more trouble hanging over one's head.
Lots more prayers on the way from me for our Phred too!
My mom had 2 angioplastics and finally they did a 4 valve bypass , she wishes they would have sooner . She has ahd 4 heart attacks before the surgery. hers is from diabetes they thought 60% of her heart was dead but after more scans found the little veins had kept it alive. after the surgery she felt so much better that after 2 weeks (insistion healed) she started an water arobics class that was 3 years ago she iis now off of 15 meds and is teaching 5 days aweek the water arobics . She has lost 80 lbs and just hired a personal trainer for the lose tummy skin. we have a contest going on weight and inches. Shes now 67 years old and I have a hard time keeping up with her.
Fred does need to remember to that after a heart attck he may experiance memory loss it's just part of it. Mom is now getting it back help of supplements.
Prayers still coming your way, Phred.
Hugs.
{{Keep hangin' in there, Phred.}}
Corinna, that is a very encouraging post. Thank you for letting us know what your mother has experienced and how well she has recovered. This is just the sort of encouraging information that Phred needs (as do we all).
Sending my thoughts and prayers out to Phred!!!
Corinna, that is amazing! I hope Phred has as much good luck as your mom has had.
Not sure if I understand everything or not, but I do hope he's feeling better and is able to come home soon:)
I hope Phred is doing better to.
Phred, just sending some more positive thoughts and prayers your way. Your room must be very crowded with all those angels watching over you. ;)
Hey, Phred, how are you today? I just tried to send an e-card and it wouldn't let me. Anyone else having trouble?
Hugs.
Hope you're doing well today Phred!
Just spoke to the patient. There was talk yesterday of him going home today. However, there hasn't been much happening today, one doc came in and adjusted one set of meds, the "main heart doc" who might have something to do with letting him go home is busy until late afternoon ...
Houston, we're in a holding pattern ...
Good Luck Phred! Still sending prayers for you..
Dear Phred, here's hoping that you get to go home soon!
Still in the holding pattern, looks like he'll maybe get to go home tomorrow, maybe this time for sure. Said he's been in a proverbial holding pattern so long he's gettin' dizzy! But he sounds a lot more chipper, anyway, which is good to hear.
He is still getting the e-cards, so we know the system is working!
The dogs, by the way, are back in doggie heaven at Unca Pat and Aunt Joan's house. What a reunion that will be, huh?
Phred hopes to be able to post something himself tomorrow!
Phred, I hope you're feeling so much better, we''re rooting for you to be able to go home - but only if you're completely safe!! ;)
What wonderful news Karen. Thanks alot for updating us. Must be frustrating for him though being in that "holding pattern". More prayers on the way for you Phred. :)
Oh how happy those pups will be (Boots and Phred and Mr. Bear, too)!! Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall?
Good luck Phred! Here's hoping those meds will do the trick.
Well, a holding pattern means at least Phred's on his way! Yup, that's gonna be one big happy reunion! :D :D
Here's hoping Phred gets sprung today! :D
Here's to thinking of you Phred, and hoping that you get out today and start to feel MUUUUUCCCHHH better soon!
Good luck Phred!!! Sending lots of good thoughs and ***hugs*** ;)
Still sending prayers your way, Phred...and I hope you get "sprung" soon!
**hugs**
Good thoughts and prayers still heading your way!
Just talked to Phred - he's on his way home today! Doesn't know how long the paperwork will take but ...
Wheeeeee!
He'll check in tonight, afetr he stops and gets the dogs, thanks their spoilers, etc.!
