Sending warm thoughts and lots of love. I think the micromaveable pillow sounds great. Warmth is good for human arthritic bones- so why not for sweet Max.
Keeping paws crossed that the steroids give Max a little more life quality.

To Max and Vickie, our love and prayers and a candle: http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/...ng&cid=9729450
Hugs and purrs to you both as you treasure your time together loving each other so much,
Pat and cats
My heart is hurting for you. I do hope you can enjoy as many nice moments with dear Max as possible. We can only do our very best for our loved ones. Please be assured that you are doing that for Max. We are human after all.
Dear Slick, always worrying more about others.....but it's your turn now, sweetie. You and Max are just as important here on PT as anyone else is, if not more so, so just accept the thoughts, prayers and candles. You both deserve them....and more.
It's hard to hear Max is still declining, but I'm SO glad he has started snuggling on your lap again. I'm sure that is very therapeutic for both of you.
What I did for Tubby in his last few days was put a heating pad down, but I put a blanket directly on top of it, then his little fleece "carpet condom" on top of the blanket. That way I know he couldn't be burned by the heat of the heating pad. He loved that spot and spent 90% of his last month right there.
I hope the meds help ease his arthritis. I know you will make him as comfortable as you possibly can, and we all know you would do whatever you possibly can for him, so don't beat yourself up and feel guilty, just love him, love him, love him and love him. He knows.....
{{{hugs}}}
Continued prayers for you and Max. I'm sorry I haven't been on PT/checked the thread for awhile. You two are always in my thoughts.
All I can say is that he's hanging in there. He still eats but his output is a concern for me. When I come home from work I have to check in every corner to see if he's left any presents for me. He never poos in the litterbox anymore.
Tonight when I came home I noticed that the litterbox had not been used (for pee) all day and that is very unusual. I'm hoping that he isn't peeing somewhere else although I've been snooping around for about 30 min and have not smelled/smelt??? anything.
He is losing control over his back end. It's a struggle now for him to get on the coffee table. I help him jump whenever I can.
He went for his 2nd steroid shot last Saturday and I'm continuing putting 4-5 drops of Metacam in his wet food at night. So far, I have not seen any change but it could be too soon. Dr. Singh says that if it doesn't do any good then there is nothing else he can do for him.
Every night when I settle down in front of the TV I have a special bowl of water with ice cubes in it. He love to lick it. When he was at the vet's last weekend, I had him check his mouth and there is no evidence of swelling or sores which is good.
Debbie and others: Thanks for the suggestion of the heating pad. I have that on my list of things to purchase this weekend.
I'm afraid I'm not dealing with this very well. The thought of being "petless" doesn't sit well with me.
Slick, I'm so sorry to hear that Max still isn't doing well.:( Hopefully a heating pad will help him feel more comfortable. Please know that I'm thinking of you both and he continues to remain in my thoughts and prayers. Please take care. (((HUGS)))
Oh Slick, this gives me such heartache. I can feel your pain right through the monitor. I wish I could do something besides type a few words. Watching our pets age or not improve from an illness is the worst. My prayers are always w/you and sweet Max. Keep the faythe.
The cartrophen took a bit of time to work on Sasha, be patient. When it did work it was like a miracle. I pray that Max will realize the same relief/relife that Sasha did. Hugs for your both.
Prayers for Max and YOU!!!
All I can do is send prayers and {{{{{hugs}}}}} for both of you from here. I'm sorry I can't do more for your pain.
Slick I am so sorry to hear about Max. I would also be worried about the peeing as kidney kitties pee a lot. I am surprised to see how many pee-cakes Filou produces per day.
Of course if he loses weight that really makes it difficult for him to jump. I can see it in Filou who instead of jumping first to the table then at your shoulder now climbs you as if you were a tree.
Poor little boy.
And while if the worst happens you should not think of staying petless there is still only one Max. As there was only one Tigris. :(
Dear Slick, you and Max are on my mind and I will keep sending positive thoughts that the Metacam will work so he can get better. :)
Does the litterbox have a high edge? Perhaps he has problems getting over it? But what can you do about that? :(
I searched for the heating pad John's niece brought along one Christmas, the size and shape are very similar to this, and it goes in the microwave. The one on this picture looks awful, but it probably does the job.
Big hugs to you - and kisses to Max.

Here's hoping that the meds will kick in and help Max feel better very soon.
I am so sorry to hear this, and that I did not know of it earlier. Prayers being sent up that Max will respond to the medicine. Prayers, also, that the time any of us have here on earth is spent in such a loving environment that houses Max.
Oh Slick i am so sorry to be reading your update, i can only hope what time you have left with Max will be as best as it can be,you have to take comfort in knowing he has had a wonderful life with you, and you have given the best chance possible, just keep in mind his comfort,we want to hang on to them so desperately.
I am not so certain about the peeing a lot with kidney cats, my kitty is a kidney cat and he does not pee hardly at all,he can go all night long before i need to let him out in the morning and he does not use a litter box, however i told my vet and he said that was a good sign really,so perhaps with Ash he has not reached that stage yet, here's hoping.
I really feel for you at this time, it is sad and stressful and distressing for you, you have my utmost empathy,my love and my hopes that Max can hang on in there, you and Max will be in my daily thoughts, take care and HUGS.
You and Max are always in my prayers. I am pulling for both of you!
Prayers going up daily for you both from me. (((HUGS))) to you both.
More prayers for sweet Max...that he is more painfree soon and comfy.
More prayers and love are being sent for you and Max both.
Still keeping you both in my thoughts, Slick. It is very hard to see our furkids in this way, just take it one step at a time.
Please be gentle with yourself and give Max the best hug from me.
{{ Thinking of you guys. }}
You and Max are in my prayers.
I woke up this morning to that familiar smell.
He had pooped in the bed right beside my pillow. :(
:love: for Max and Slick :love:
Aw, poor Max (and you too). I can totally understand how he feels. Sometimes when my joints hurt a lot, I wonder if I can make it to the bathroom before it's too late myself. More prayers on the way for you both.:love:
I'm so sorry to read this. :( Thinking of you and sending more positive thoughts. Max will enjoy having you around all weekend. :)
Hugs and kisses to you both.
Aw, poor sweet boy! If it'll make you feel any better, Slick, my Pidge had the same problem. The Lactulose that she was taking to loosen her stool did the job alright. She was sleeping in bed w/me and tried to make it to the litterbox but couldn't. So all we can do is clean it up and know that they don't like it any more than we do. Give Max some gentle pats for me and lots of (((HUGS))) for you, my friend.
I am so sad to hear the latest news (the one before the poop on the bed). Slick, you have my number, please give me a call if you need to talk (or cry).
I hope Max can be with you through the holidays. But I know you will do what's best for him.
Hugs to you!
If you don't have my number anymore, PM me and I'll give it to you again.
Oh, how my heart aches for you and your boy. :( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...iles/Hugs2.gif
:( Sadly Michaels going through a lot of the same things Slick :(
I had to put the litterbox close to him at the end of the bed and mash his food up so he can eat.
Hes got bad teeth , a throat infection , one good kidney and cataracts.
Hes gone off to the Vets for a good rest, and will be on antibiotics until his operation Monday.
Poor Older Cats:(
We are praying for Max as its such a tragedy when Our Cats get older in front of our eyes.
Like Bo Bo and John Hancock who went this year.
:(
Bo Bo was ailing , John Hancocks was a sudden heart attack:eek:
More prayers are coming for Our Friend Max
One of my last experiences with Tigris was when he came in my bed- and purred- and then I felt it getting wet and he just peed....
Oh my.
Give him your love as long as you can- that's what you do- I know.
Warm thoughts being sent your way.
More prayers for Max..
Prayers for you and Max.
Our thoughts are with you and Max, take care and HUGS.
Lots of prayers and hugs for both of you; it's so sad when they get old and things don't work like they used to (just like us).:(
Sweet gentle pats for Max................:love::love::love:
