How about Patrick on the pole for tomorrow?? I was sad to see that he bumped Bobby to number 2 though.
Patrick has been really good at qualifying all year, it was nice to see im get a pole...but I agree, it was sad to see Bobby get bumped. Reed Sorenson's qual effort was pretty impressive too!
That was one of the most obnoxious SSB singers NASCAR has had all year.
----------------------
As I watch the Indy Car race last night I noticed that the announcers are not nice to Danica.
Check it out.
When a driver talks to the pits they always say something like, "Rahal is telling his crew that he's losing power."
When DP calls in it's more like. 'Danica is complaining to her crew that the car isn't up to speed."
WAA WAAA WAAAAAAAAAA!
ESPN is running snippets of an interview with the woman who is suing NASCAR for harassment.....it got me to wondering how many woman are employed in positions like hers.
----------
I really don't care for the commercials for the NATIONWIDE coverage also on ESPN.
It's the racing slotcars that wreck.
I got into some arguements with friends who "don't get" racing-"You just watch the races for the wrecks!"-that just promotes the image that race fans are dumb bloodthristy morons.
NUMBER 5 in 2009!!!! All year long!!
I think that kills the idea of Robin supporting my ABH policy!!!
I was watcing a race tonight and thought it was new...turns out it was a repeat of February...well almost anyway!!! Same car numbers 1-2-3...Go Denny!!!!
After the race Clint Bowyer said a monkey could win in that car. We know Tony's done it 5 times!!! ( come on, have you seen the hair on the back?!?)
Tony Stewart has been granted his release from his current contract.
He'll go to Haas Racing next year.
-----------
I really hate this kind of wheeling (pun intended) and dealing during the season.
It's kinda like telling a kid that his grad present is a trip to Hawaii no matter how he finishes the school year. I think that it crushes any desire for them to do well until the end of the semester.:(
So what keeps a driver interested? The Mark Martin contract might be a little different. Any races he runs in this season are practice for him. He looks forward to next year with a reason. Do you think that TS will just 'play out the string' this year?
The deal is said to make TS the highest paid driver in NASCAR.
Depsite the fact I think Tony is making a big mistake, he will still be my #1 Driver. I will still root for JGR (at least Denny and Joey!)
I understand the long term planning and working for his future...he isn't going to drive forever. But I think Dale did it right when he kept his driving and business separate. Buy the team, plan for the future, but keep racing where someone else can worry about the details. Robby Gordon is probablly the most successful as a driver driving his own equipment currently...and that isn't saying a whole lot! Michael Waltrip hasn't had much luck yet. Even Kevin Harvick coming down and running his own car in Nationwide has struggled.
As for the rest of this year, I think the top 13 have the best shot at making the chase. I predict 1 of 2 things. First, since the news is out, and the deal is done, Tony will have more focus on the track and will make the chase, with Biffle being the odd man out (Poor guy can't buy a break this year!). Or, he will have less focus, be ready to move on and he will be the odd man out.
Personally, I hope Tony makes the chase. I think this is his last chance at a title. Without the Gibbs organization behind him, he will struggle....even with Hendrick power.
Amy, guess you can't say ABH any more can you;)
We knew this was coming and I hope it all works out for Tony.
I agree, I don't see Tony winning any more championships...but who knows, maybe he'll surprise us all!
I'll still be a JGR fan (and yes, I'll even root for Kyle  ) but Tony will still be my #1 driver.
There is no word as to his number. Hass currently runs the 66 and 70. Rumors have also said he may try to get 14, AJ Foyt's old number, which is available. The 20 and Home Depot will both stay with JGR. Tony's sponsors will be (according to the rumors) Office Depot and Old Spice.
Should know more after the 2:30pm conference today. You can watch live on Nascar.com
Nothing accounced at this point expcet 50% equity in Hass for Tony. No mention of sponsors or other drivers.
Why bother.
Just kall it the Kyle Busch racing league.
ugh.....;)
At least he beat Jimmie Johnson!
Tony made a great made on the fina restart to get from 7 to 5. I was watcing Race Buddy online, or never would have seen it....the battle for the lead was so good at the same time.
On Sunday a woman driver won an Indy Lights race....
Does anyone know a site, other that SPEED that covers racing?
I looked for the results of that race for about 30 minutes the other day...nothing....
http://espn.go.com/
They have a NASCAR link and also a link to other types of racing.
Thanks,

I looked all over for the story!
The clips of her on the podium were really funny-she was beside herself!!!
She actually won on Saturday. The clips were part of the weekend wrap up show for motor-racing.

I'm still sad that I didn't get to go this year. Of course it pours rain every year, especially with the Indy car events.
No matter how many times I see CE do that backflip I always pray that he don't come up short.
-------------
Is the Joey Logano 200 being run next week?
The media always wonders why kids do not cut the mustard when they break into the pro leagues.
He's a good driver but I am getting burned out on him already!
I Love Milka Duno.
Dumbica Patrick got what she deserved. The priss-cess went "looking for three legs on the cat, and found four".
Duno's response was priceless and I commend MD's crew too!
That was classic .....Stuff a rag in it.;)

DP,
Here's a driving tip. Go around a slower driver next time. You were 'dismissed' from the conversation, twice, and you still stood there and questioned the reason that she didn't want to hear any of your guff.
You showed, once again, the 'burning fire of competiveness' but forgot to "stop, drop and roll" when you got smoked.... And it was caught on tape!!! :)
Someone is going to go MMA on her one of these days-I predict a knockout in the first round for her opponent.:p
I didn't get to watch the race Sunday. I did record it. I wasn't going to look at results, but I can never resist. Then I read the stuff about the tires, I'm not sure I will be able to stand watching it. I'm sure I don't have the whole race either with all the cautions. Perhaps I'll just have it on Thursday for the replay. I would have loved to get to hear Kasey's scanner during the race though for strategy with those tire problems.
Nascar apologized for the race today...
How's about a refund?;)
Even with all the problems, I have to say I kinda enjoyed the race. Very interesting. So many things going on (well...except for racing...lol!)
The Indy race worked out well for me....I was in Florida, laying by the pool, listening to it a portable Sirius. The frequesnt cautions were the perfrect time to take quick dips in the pool :D
Good race today. Tony will get one soon...
Glad to see Kyle survived his "slump"!!! Another 2nd place finish. Hopefully that first win will come at MIS next weekend so I can be there in person!!
Friday I have a garage tour scheduled at 11am. Practice starts at noon, so I am guessing things will be pretty busy as we are touring!!! Can't wait!!!
Ever feel like you are talking to youself? oh well....
Can I tell you what a awesome time I had this weekend? Okay, so Carl won again, and if that keeps happening I may have to stop taking Ralph ( Dale Jr. won when I went without him in June)....but still.
The garage tour was very cool. We went through the tunnel into victory lane, and just as we were walking across pit Road, here comes Tony and Ryan out of their press conference fora photo op for the media. I was 5 feet away!
I got several autographs ( Michael Waltrip, Brian Vickers, David Regan, Regan Smith, Brad Coleman, Scott Riggs, Michael McDowell, Dale Jr, Tony Eury Jr.) and lots pictures of the drivers. I saw Robby Gordon so much by Sunday he may have thought I was stalking him....I really wasn't he just appeared every where I went!
Our computer at home is still down, but hopefully we will get a new one soon and I can upload all the pictures.
Aw, Amy doesn't anyone like you anymore? Or is it just Nascar that everyone is tired of? I am glad you had a good time on Friday - and glad I could help you find your way home. I know yesterday was a lot of fun for everyone - well, everyone that went to the race that is. It was very nice of you and Christy to pay the extra so your dad (and you) could get the pit pass. (I have to tell you I had no idea what that was until Christy told me). Your dad seemed pretty excited except in the fact that Tony didn't win. It was hard to tell him apart from the Tony Stewart thing whatever it was.
I downloaded the pictures to my computer last night but I was just too tired to do anything with them after that. Of course the ones Christy took was mostly of the people and things in the pit area (I guess). or that is what it looked like to me.
I am sure if you went to Julia's you could download ( and upload them to shutterfly and probably burn a disc so you could take them home ready for your new computer). And if you know what you are wanting in a computer she can probably get that done for you too. That way you could meet her new kitty Harley.
Christy was very excited about the race also. I now know without a doubt where Jasmine gets her talkativeness from. She even followed me to the bedroom to keep telling me of the things she saw etc.
If Mark hadn't mentioned the Member's Club when we were at your house this winter......it is his fault!!Quote:
That's because we're all jealous of you!
Just kidding
I did almost call you when we headed over for the garage tour, and came out of the tunnel right at Victory Lane. As we are walking toward the pits here comes Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman from their press conference for a media photo op. I was like 5 feet from them, and although I had to stand to the side to get pictures, I think they came out good.
Sad thing is, I wasn't 100% sure it was Tony at first...clean shaven, collared-shirt, no hat or sunglasses....I knew it was Ryan Newman, but I hesitated to if Tony was with him or not until I got closer.
Sounds like you had a great time! I haven't been getting my regular NASCAR experiences lately because I have had to clean lake houses on Sunday afternoons. That means I can have the races on while I clean, but I don't get the radio chatter. :(
So, I'll open the can of worms...
What's the deal with the magnets on the throttle pedals on the JGR Nationwide cars?
No idea....I can understand that they are probablly frustrated that they have put together a great engine package, and NASCAR keeps trying to take horsepower away. So they work to get it back, and NASCAR wants to check again, and maybe take away more?
The magnets would keep the throttle from opening all the way and "hide" some of the horsepower they have gotten back. Bad decision!!!! It will be interseting to see who was behind it (if they ever say) and what happens to them.
NASCAR put out a statement saying that the magnets were from the little suction-cup compasses that were mounted on the windshields of the JGR cars.
Apparently, the pit crews didn't clean up the mess from the compasses that were broken in previous crashes.
Gibbs Racing will be installing GPS systems to replace the old fashioned technology.
Temper, temper!
Did CE really tap KB?
KB looked like he was all over the track on his own!
Oh, well.......At least when you try to wreck someone, do it when it counts?
I find it rather amusing that Kyle has earned this reputation as the new guy that will knock anyone out of his way. Then when it happens to him, he gets all mad and says, "Fine, if that's how you want to race..." Kyle has been doing the same thing all year. People have been telling him that and complaining about his driving style because of it. Now, he's on the other side and doesn't like it. LOL
It seemed like Carl was getting awfully defensive in the media center after the race. He's right...he did exactly what Kyle would have done. Can't blame him at all!
I finally got my pictures from Michigan uploaded (all 400+) The album is here:
