Well maybe it's just me, but I don't see the big deal. No matter what, we will and always will be Pet Talkers:D

Karen and Paul, my vote is for you guys to do whatever works the best for you. That's it. :) You do such a terrific job and as long I know how to find you, then I'm fine with whatever you decide.
I always come in through www. petoftheday.com , anyway. I'm assuming that would not change.

Well said Logan!! That's exactly how I feel!Quote:

Of course we'll always be Pet Talkers... but to newcomers, we won't be. Like I said, there's really nothing we can do about it I guess.
Yes, Kay, there is. When we get the poll of choices up, you can vote there! As I stated, we are not going to arbitrarily change it to something unrecognizable, and we're not going to change it without warning!
I'm a little behind on this topic so forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question...a bit confused!:D
Our domain name is PetoftheDay.com right? Not PetTalk? Pet Talk is just the name of the message board, not the name of the site itself, is that right? So I guess my question is, are you thinking of changing the domain name, Pet of the Day, or just the name of the messge board? I know in the beginning I and a lot of others mistook this site for "PetTalk," not "Pet of the Day." I'm thinking the concern is more people searching for our site and mistakingly get connected with PetTalk.com?
Just the name of the message board will change. We own the domain name and always have been and will be PetoftheDay.com. We are considering the name change for the message board BECAUSE people have mistaken us for PetTalk.com which has been owned by someone else for years, but only recently became an actual website and message board. We had inquired over the years if they would even sell us the domain name when they weren't using it, but they repeatedly declined.
The family of websites will always be the PetoftheDay.com family, or CatoftheDay.com or DogoftheDay.com, those will never change, at least while Paul and I are living, breathing and in control of our mental faculties, and the Internet exists in something close to its present form.
That's what I was thinking Karen! I know that I used to mistakingly search "Pet Talk" in beginning...5 years ago this month as a matter of fact...and get connected to that other site! Thanks!:)
I'm with Phred- pettalkers is what we are! Could you use pet_talk.com with an underscore, or is that too close to be considered another name? Or just PT.com ? PTers.com?
I know, wait for the poll, just wanted to add my 2 cents in. ;)
You can not have underscores in domain names; however, you CAN have a hyphen :)
Likewise you also can't have a domain with fewer than, I think four or five characters without having to pay extra.

We're not gonna just arbitrarily change it to Styfwsutfashdf.com or anything, I promise.
You're not?
Oh?
I was just writing it down!! :D :p
Karen and Paul - I trust your judgement.
As long as I can still find you ..... I am happy.
But everyday people say "I was at Pet Talk..." and someone not very well acquanted might want to go to the site pet talk, which goes to somebody else. Pitty they do not want to sell the domain!
I think you should changed it to something else before you get bigger and confusions gets bigger...
For instance: guess how I found? I am down at Brazil, how did I found you? I went to Google, looking for sites on cats... Found Catoftheday.
I was never on a forum before. Did not get at all what was Pet Talk, and someone used the "PT", which is actually a political party initials in Brazil! (PT = Partido dos Trabalhadores - Worker's Party, leftist party) I did not get at all! What the political party had to do with cats?!!!! Some friend of Pet Talk told it was not the political party!!!!
So, I have to explain to Brazilians, when I show the site, what is Pet Talk! So, it is NOT universally understood.
