I think I'd go ahead and bring him home tomorrow. From what I have heard, boys recover better then girls, and the sooner he can start adjust to his new home, the better :D

Of course, someone with more experience may have a better idea, but that is my thought on it!

Yeah, that might be for the best - though every dog reacts differently to anesthesia, it's probably a "wait and see" thing.

Gosh, this is gonna be so exciting! A challenge, especially with his current on-leash behavior, but he'll have two good dog-teachers as well as a good human to help him.

Ooooooooh, can't wait to see the "happy at home!" pictures!

Might not be a bad idea...then Buddy and Tash won't be investigating him too much, while he is feeling under the weather...hmmm..tough call though, probably either way, he will feel back to normal pretty soon...but when Dale got the big snip, he definately just wanted to relax.

As some one has said it really is easier on the males. Snoopy is part Dalmation and hyyyyper! He was fixed and I brought him home the same evening. She said he would be groggy the rest of the evening. Well, he did sleep all the way home (I had it done about half an hour from here). After that he was Snoopy, all over the place. I kept saying slow down, take it easy, don't jump on that couch. Did he pay me any heed, no way! Did he act like it hurt, again no way. And the next day he was just fine - and I really did try to slow down his activity level!

So my opinion is bring him home. If you have a crate, you can always give him a time out from everyone which isn't a bad idea anyway until he gets use to everyone and everything. He has spent long enough in that shelter and he probably won't sleep or rest any better there than at your house.

Nawh... don't go to the "other" extreme! ;)

Doc's put in his tyme at the Shelter! :(

You "broke the ice" between the New Guy and the "Ole Guard" with
the Family Walkies while he was still in jail...

The only ones who MIGHT be uppyset with him Comin Home are
Buddy and Tash - and THEY won't be groggy or hurtin -
you can DEAL with them, if you have to.

Doc "can" be isolated in a room by himself *IF* there is a need
to seperate them due to "hurt feelins".

Just do the "intros" OUTside the Howze - you'll know pretty quick-like
how everyone is going to handle things.

And the idea of "walkin Doc through the Howze" -
By HIMSELF on a leash - is a GOOD One!!

After that, bring him back out for more play in the yard;
THEN try walking them ALL (ON leash) into the house, together.

And DON'T <panic> if there's some inital "Grrrrrin" or raised fur" -
this is going to be a *BIG* change for ebberbuddie!!

At least YOU don't have a KAT ya gotta 'splain things to! :rolleyes:

ONE MORE SLEEP!:D

Tomorrow it is. I'm not too worried about Bud and Tash, I have "dog-sat" many dogs in my house and they have never minded, except Tasha when one of them goes for her food bowl.
I think I'll pick up Docker, come home and get Bud and Tash and take the three of them for a short walk, then return to the house like everything's normal and we'll all just head inside. I did have Docker (before he was Docker:D ) inside the house already and Bud and Tash really didn't mind (the day I found him) so again, I'm not too worried about it.

I told Bud and Tash that they had a new brother coming and asked them if they had any objections and neither of them said anything..........so:D

oops, I meant to put in my earlier post, I've decided I'll phone the SPCA in the morning or early afternoon and see how he's doing. Assuming he's fine, I'll do the above, if they think he's "out of it" or anything, I'll wait 'till friday but I'm fully expecting it'll be tomorrow.

Okay then....looks like we won't have much more time to worry and wait. Like everybody else, I am eager to know that Docker will be in his loving new home.

There is lots for this pup to adjust to. Do we know anything about his previous life? You mentioned at one time that his owners had been found but never came to claim him. Obviously he didn't have much training if he didn't know how to walk on a leash and I'm thinking there is a possibility he might not have been housebroken. Whatever the hurdles are, be patient and don't give up. There are plenty of people here with opinions (as you have already learned) for you to sort through. Some may be conflicting opinions and that is alright because (in my opinion) not every tactic works with every dog. You will soon have a feel for what works with Docker. And thank you in advance for letting us follow this exciting time in your life.
