Sorry.....no pictures this time!:o
I spent about an hour in the bedroom with Boomer. This time, I lay on the floor and he came right out to see me:D Gave me lovins and smelled my breath! He always does that to Missy - this kitty likes breath:D Then, he had a nice long drink and I discovered why it always seems like he has spilled water....this is the CUTEST thing: Boomer drinks with his paws!! Just like my Dylan!! Boomer kept dipping his right paw into the bowl over and over and then drinking right from his paw - like a little cup:D
Finally ....he went in his litterbox, turned around with his front outside:rolleyes: ...and he stayed just like that for what must have been full 2 or 3 minutes. But, the result was the biggest pee pancake I have ever seen!! He has a good bladder!! Baby has probably been holding it quite awhile. Still no food, but I am not worried about that at this point.
Next, I lifted him to the window hammock and he stayed there quite sometime - letting me scratch his chin and neck - while he seemed fascinated with the view outside. He watched cars go by, some folks taking a walk and lots of birds. A wasp came to the window and he acked at that!! Ack Ack!! Smacked that glass too, Boomer did :D He will be a good bug catcher I can tell.
Anyway - I just wanted to let ya'll know that for a first day after that flight - Boomer seems to be doing great!! Maybe tomorrow he can meet the sirrah kitties - will see. *Someone* was meowing at the door and Boomer went over to sniff and was quite relaxed and interested.
Thanks all :D Next update....PICTURES!
I love how your siggy already has Boomer in there !! :D
Thank you for keeping us posted as to Boomer's settling in! It sounds like he is adjusting pretty well, getting the feel for his new digs and enjoying all the scritches and lovins.
Strange way he drinks! But that's what makes him Boomer! won't he be happy when his meowmie and little brother come to stay!!:D
Enjoy the scenery, Boomer!
Debbie, thanks for the pictures and updates about Boomer.:) He's doing extremely well for a cat that has traveled as far as he has. I'm sure he'll back to his normal self in a few days.:) When Pearl flew home with me it took her a several days before she'd really eat much of anything so I wouldn't worry about this just yet.
WELCOME HOME BOOMER!!! May you have many many more happy and healthy years in the United States.:D
It took me a while to catch up with everything that happened in this thread and I finally have some time to post.
I'm so happy that Boomer made it safely to your house and is adjusting nicely.:D
I can't wait to see more photos, I'm really happy that things went so well for him.:)
YEAH for big pee biscut. :D
Get you some of that Nutracal from PetSmart or your vet. I swear by it for stimulating appetites.
This has been MOST exciting!! Debbie, you and dennis are wonderful!! Can't help but love people who love their Grandkitty enough to do this. Poor Boomer, has been through so much and came so close to being lost to us forever but now he is still in the PT family and will continue to be a part of our lives, THANKS to you and Dennis and I know your daughter will forever be grateful to you for what you have done for her fur baby.
(I have to admit, the picture of him in the kennel made me cry and final cry of RELIEF!)
WELCOME HOME BOOMER BABY!!!
Yes, that kennel picture did it for me. Those eyes!!!
What a brave lil guy!!
GREAT updates! :D I think he is doing wonderful.
Thanks for the uppydate Debbie. Glad to hear that Boomer is settling in and I look forward to seeing more pictures. :)
I just got home from work and I'm very glad to see that all is going well for Boomer. What a curageous little guy you are:) You did great...and it wont be long till your "meowmie and brother" are there to see you!!! the saucer eye picture also got to me.....teary eye syndrome:)
What a terrific update, Debbie!!!! :) Again, I say, YOU ARE TERRIFIC!!!!! :) Boomer is going to be just fine, I'm sure of it, and what a load off of Missy's mind. Mama's in charge now and everyone is ok!!!! :D :D :D
I was so anxious to get home today and get some Boomer updates! And I can't wait for the next update with pictures!!!
Boomer doesn't look too bad in those pics! He's got the wide eyes, but I'm sure everything is so different in another country! :)
We are soooo happy that his trip is over. Folks here are the ones who made it possible. Honestly and in many ways, too! Many folks have contributed financially to "Project Boomer" and given Missy lots of encouragement and assurance that this trip WAS possible. It was VERY expensive but most of the cost of Boomer's ticket has been covered.
Many more of you have been praying, messaging and rooting for Boomer - which made the whole process so much easier. Folks have given helpful advice, a few happy words and your excitement spilled over into this thread. Some even helped us WORRY!! People here truly love pets and make our family feel we are not weird for the things we do for them - unless we are *all* weird:D I know I have grinned, cried and laughed over the things that have been posted - folks talking about Boomer at work, printing out pictures, making him a desktop, dreaming about his trip, making cute graphics of planes and things...and so many followed his flight!!!
Phred made many phonecalls to the airline and really helped to blast through all the red tape and confusing answers - prodding right along to get results....and turned flight day into an online adventure that so many of us enjoyed with all the updates, flight tracking and even weather and DELAY explanations! My extended family would NEVER understand the desire to transport a cat from one side of the world to another. So, PT was once again an extended - as they are to others in so many instances here and through the years.
Now - on to PICTURES!!!
I think Boomer really is doing well today! He hides under the bed some of the time - but readily comes out when we go in and sit down. He begs for chin scritches and even leaps up to the hammock by himself...

Grandpaw came in and Boomer hid for a couple minutes and back out he came...he wanted more chin and neck scratches! I did not get this pictured though...but isn't Boomer looking handsome?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/Im000920.jpg
Boomer kept looking up at the wall - very alert and quite sure he saw something!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/Im000915.jpg
Boomer, is it this light switch?? It is NOT a bug, silly...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/Im000917.jpg
I picked him up but he was not too thrilled about it but sure is sweet and doesn't make a fuss about it - just looks pitiful...
"I want DOWN!!!"

We are still taking things slowly....but for now I would say he is much more comfortable and relaxed than I ever would have hoped for only being here less than one day. The other sirrah kitties are wanting extra attention of course - and demand to smell us whenever we have been in *the room*.....but they are a friendly bunch and we are hoping to start introducing them in a few days. Hopefully there will be no flying fur or bloodshed!!
OMG Those pictures are so sweet! I am so glad that he made it through the long flight fine and that he is settling in well in your home. This thread has made my entire day! THANK YOU for bringing him into your home!
I'm so happy he's settling in.
How much does he weigh? He looks like he's a big boy!
Debbie, I cannot resist - Has Boomer said anything to you in Japanese yet??
Deb: I just realized . . . Boomer should feel right at home! Isn't his new room the same exact color as Tyler's room? Or are cats color blind? LOL . . . just a thought.
I'm so glad to see Boomer is doing so well! He looks great in your new siggy! I hope he realizes what a special kitty he is!!!
Not to worry, the most you can expect will be hissing, growling and posturing. May I suggest allowing 1 cat into BOOMER'S room for the first meeting? Choose the most mellow. ACK...you'll do fine!Quote:
Hopefully there will be no flying fur or bloodshed!!
Boomer looks great!
Boomer is a big boy :)
Looks like he is having fun exploring the room and looking outside.
He will do just fine with introductions to your gang.
I'm having flight watch withdrawal today. LOL
Boomer is looking so darn relaxed after his big adventure. I know Missy is thrilled and crying from relief. I just wish I could have been here for the whole thing but I was here for the BEST part and that is what counts! I love that picture of you holing him, that is a picture that really warms my heart!
Yay :) I'm so happy that my sweet Boomer boy is adjusting well:D :D :D
It's funny about the lightswitch! he has never seen a light switch like that!! The switches here are all flat against the wall. I wonder what other things are common in the states that he has never seen?? Persianmom pointed out that the vents for the a/c and heater are on the floor in my parents home!! Here they are on the ceiling.
Oh what fun for Boomer to explore and see all of the new and strange things:D
In newer homes or apartments the vents are up in the ceiling. Older homes (like ours) they are on the floor.
Couldn’t wait to come home to find out how Boomer was doing.
He looks fantastic for all he’s been thru and really seems to enjoy his window view.
As good natured as he is I don’t think you have any problems introducing him to the other cats. He is a very lucky Kitty.
:)
What wonderful uppydates!!! He's doing amazingly well...that's so great! :)
Kisses to sweet Boomer.
Boomer you look great little buddy!! What a looker you are! So glad to see that you're doing well and things are running smoothly there at Grandma and Grandpa's house. We think you and the sirrah kitties will all love each other Big Boomer. The sirrah family must all be breathing a giant sigh of relief everytime they think about what has just happened. "Project Boomer" is sucha cute name. We love it!:D
Phew, finally finished reading all the posts.
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!! What an adventure. Talk about mixed emotions. Sad at the thought of Boomer having to be re-homed. Happy that Missy realized that she just couldn't part with her sweet boy. In awe over all the PTer's willing to help get Boomer to grandmeowmie & grandpaws house. Tremendous worry on how well Boomer would handle the l o n g flight. The excitement of following the flight. Then the tears of happiness that Boomer had arrived safely in the United States.
I can't express more on how happy I am to hear how well Boomer is doing in such a short time.
Thank you Debbie for all the great pictures and updating us on this precious boy. :)
He's starting to look like he's always lived there, you're lucky that he's so adaptable, some cats are nervous wrecks for weeks after a big move.
I'm sure the common thread joining all of us was that we could imagine Boomer being OUR pet, the anxiety we would have if we thought we might have to give him up. Then the guarded hope that his journey might be possible, getting all the details ironed out, getting him ready for his LONG trip, hoping all would be well, then finally letting him go.
It was exciting yet difficult to watch the progress of the plane, wondering how Boomer was, all cooped up in his cage, hoping he wasn't cold or hungry or scared. The waiting was the worst part.
Then when he finally landed in OH, the joy of seeing his big eyes looking out through the kennel, knowing he had safely arrived and was on his way home!
Then when he was finally HOME, safe in a warm place, with cozy places to hide, yummy food and fresh water, a nice soft bed and perch to sit on, and the best of all, loving grandpurrents to take care of him!
That's all I could think of, that one of my babies could be Boomer; that's why I couldn't stay away from PT and all of you!
Now Boomer can relax and go back to being a cat again! (and I can stop tearing up and worrying!!!)
Well, I couldn't have said it better!! :) :)Quote:

I guess that's why we're all here, right?
Another PT miracle!!! :) Boomer looks like he's going to do just fine in a new home, and country. I'm soooo happy Missy's ad wasn't responded to in Japan, and that Boomer has his extended family to continue loving him. (((HUGS)) to all who made this possible, and (((HUGS))) to Boomer's entire family for assuring he's got a forever home!:D I can't wait for pictures of Missys, Tylers and Grams arrival at the Sirrah home...oh what a reunion that will be. ;) :) :D
Oh guys... I just saw that he's home! I've been so terribly busy with everything and completely missed this!!!! I am so so so so happy to see his travels are over and that he's adjustng to life in the United States! Yahooo Boomer!
Boomer meets the Sirrahkitties
Lots of pictures of Boomer - thought I had better start posting them in Cat General but also want anyone who has been following him to come check on him. Thank you so much!!
I think I just missed Missy - it is 1am in Japan, but I did update her in a PM. She has not yet seen pictures but will check in the morning I am sure. I hope you enjoy them Missy - don't worry because he really is doing well!
orangemn and Lorraine - your posts above sum up PERFECTLY how I am feeling as well. I really appreciate your thought. Thanks to all of you!
Next....get Missy, Tyler and Carol home:D
Orangemm - you completely explained all of my emotions as I followed the travels of Boomer.
I would have been a wreck if Boomer was my own. I too had tears in my eyes when I saw those eyes - just huge- looking out of his cage after he had landed in Ohio.
But he sure does look as though he has adjusted quite nicely.
He cannot believe his luck!
I would imagine depositing a huge pee bisquit was a huge relief for him as well.
What a lovely story for all of us to participate in.
Wow, what fabulous pictures and it sure looks as though Boomer is settling in OK. What a trooper he is! :) Thanks for keeping us updated.
Just for fun, I thought I would drag this thread up and let all of you know that Boomer will become a world traveler once again:) Next move is to *Germany*
In just a few days, Boomer and brother Sooner will be flying to Europe with daughter Sirrahsim and her family. The Air Force is relocating them once again. The kitties are tired of the hot Texas weather I guess. Missy's hubby just returned from a year in Honduras and the family is so happy to be together again:D
WOW, that boy Boomer sure gets around!!! :D
I can't believe its almost been 5 years, I remember at dinner telling my family "boomer is over (whatever country)" and they thought I was crazy:D
