I was almost afraid to check this thread, but somehow I knew it was going to be good news...and it is! Yeah! Way to go Bassett! It's such a relief to hear that you weathered the sir jury so well and are on the mend. I sure hope you're awake when your mommy visits today. But otherwise rest well sweetie, you have a lot of healing to do and we want you to be able to go home as soon as possible. :D
Oh Naomi, what a relief that she did so well. Get some good rest now, and be sure let Bassett know that we all want to give her big hugs for being such a brave girl. :D

Naomi, I am new to PT, but I have been checking in on all of Bassett's threads to see that all is going well. You and Bassett have been in my thoughts and prayers over the last few weeks. I know what you are going through. Get as much rest as you can because you will need it.
More prayers will be coming your way.
All my Furbabies and I are sending lots of hugs your way. :) :D :)
I've been to see Bassett :) She's actually doing better than I expected. When I got there, she was heavily sedated with pain meds, but when she saw me she tried to get up :) It made me feel good! She was also cold.. because she's staying really still her body temperature has dropped a bit (normal, they told me) so they bundled her all up with a blanket and some hot water bottles.. she looked so sweet :)
I am going to leave her alone tonight.. they want to start her on a new pain med IV drip, and Dr. Schiller is considering removing her chest tube (They haven't gotten any fluid off.. this is GOOD NEWS!!!!), so I'm just going to let them monitor her and get all that much done, and I will go see her a couple of times tomorrow afternoon and evening. Even though I know it helps, I figure the quieter she is, the better.. although I wish I could just sleep there with her! :)
Thanks for the prayers. I know Bassett's angels are hearing them :)
Naomi
This is making me cry. I am so happy that Bassett girl is doing so nicely. Paws and fingers crossed dear Naomi.

Hi,
At this rate I'm going to have more posts than Naomi! :P This is Doc Schiller, she used her skilled hands on Bassett!
Nate,
A/V Dept.
Hi everyone!
Bassett is doing SO MUCH BETTER than yesterday! As soon as she saw me she got up and walked toward me. She gave me, Nathan and Vickie (Slick) headbumpies and asked for lots of cheek scritches. She is giving a LOT of attitude.. she's not very nice to the techs or the surgeon.. she bit someone yesterday. But they aren't taking it personally - and at least she's fighting! Dr. Schiller is really happy with the progress, and she took some xrays of Bassett and is pleased with what she saw. So far - the fluid isn't accumulating like crazy. She said the xrays are hard to read right now, because she is still swollen and there are air pockets from the tube, so she said we will have to wait a bit to get a really good reading on the xrays. Bassett is also hungry.. I could tell right away that she wanted food, so Dr. Schiller said that when I'm there next (which will be tonight) to offer her some food and let her eat. She isn't using the litter box; she's piddling in her bed but I think it's because she's still very unsteady on her feet - her medicine causes that. Hopefully, the meds can be weaned off slowly over the next day or so. Dr. Schiller even said that we might be able to bring her home tomorrow night! :)
Keep praying - they are working!! She's doing great :)
