Hugs and prayers on the way for you and Sherman.
:( I know, Kimmy, we can't either. Hard to comprehend that this beautiful photo you posted was taken only 6 weeks ago! I'm glad he was feeling better today, but its scarey. This is how he's been for the past month - one day he seems better, the next day he's worse than before. On one hand, the swelling in his limbs is going down a bit, he's standing & walking a little better. On the other, he's having more difficulty clearing his airways, you can hear the liquid in his lungs. Honestly, at times it's like watching a fish out of water.Quote:

Saturday when we brought him home, his tongue was lying flat under his chin and he couldn't pick his head up off it. We didn't think he'd make it through the night. Today, he ran up & down the stairs, and now he's downstairs eating Cream-sicles with JoJoe. We just have to take it day by day.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to go on & on about this, but I guess I need to. I hope the internist calls soon.
I don't think I've been able to update myself on this thread without getting LES!!!
Yes, one day at a time is all you can do right now. Please accept these {{{hugs}}} and kisses for you and dear Sherman.
Slick
xoxo
Oh how that boy loves you Pat. No matter how much pain they are in, they still want to be with the ones they love.
The pictures you've posted, your blog and the updates mean the world to me (and others I'm sure). Thank you for allowing us to be part of this. I don't know how you do it in between worrying and taking care of Sherman, but again...THANK YOU.
Since Kim shared a picture I hope you don't mind that I do, if so let me know and I'll take them down.
Every time I think about your sweet boy, this is the guy I remember...
The boy who was eating yummies under the picnic table at the husky hike. He loves the goodies.

And the one who really, really loved the pup cakes I made for Roxey's birthday (this is a picture you took-needless to say I wasn't able to get any;)) He was so sweet and gentle he got 2nd's and thirds:)

Oh Wow, I love seeing Sherman in these pictures. That's the boy I remember from the Findlay outing. :) I am so sorry that this illness is
so rough on him & on his family too. :( Sending love & hugs fom Indy.
You guys have certainly been in my thoughts and prayers.
{{BIG hugs to that plush boy!!}}
I hope you don't mind if I add a few favorite pictures of Sherman from my albums too...
These first few are from 2005.

Kim, I just pm-ed you. (thanks for the quick reply)
Oh gosh, everyone, you are posting such wonderful pictures of our boy! Anna, that moment is one of my very favorite picnic memories! I was taking picutes and all the pups were so excited about those pupcakes! Sherman sat there in his most perfect "sit", patiently waiting for his. He looked so hopeful! You were getting down to the last of them, and he very gently stood up and balanced himself against your hip and took his cupcake. It was so sweet.
I love the picture of Spot & Sherman! They had such a good time together that day. Spot was one of the few dogs he sought out to play with. I love the look on Cincy's face :D . Remember how hot it was? They had to share the shade.
For those of you with cameras that can do video, DO IT NOW. I never did figure out how to use the video on mine, and I regret that I don't have any footage of Sherman running around. (at least I have hundreds of pictures ;) )
Gotta go check on him. Thanks.
I am glad to hear Sherman is improving steadily, but any improvement is a good thing at this point. I really hope he keeps at it...(still thinking of you)
{{{hugs}}}
Glad to hear he had a good day today, Pat. We're still praying for you guys!
And I'd like to share a few pictures as well, if that's okay.

GIANT (((((HUGS))))) still being sent your way!
Oh wow, all the pictures are so good and tug at my heart. He is so beautiful. I hate that this is happening. I can't help it but all I can think is that this is just not fair. I'm so thankful that you are sharing him with us and including us during this time. The first thing I do when I check in with PT is come here to see how Sherman is doing. I feel as if he is a part of my family as I'm sure the rest of PT feels the same way. Please give him some more hugs from me. Always thinking about you all and praying for you.
I LOVE YOU, SHERMAN!
I'm just now seeing this and I want you to know how sorry I am. Sherman is such a gorgeous vibrant looking dog that this is so hard to understand and believe. :(
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Sherman,
I just noticed this thread, and have just finished reading your Mum's blog.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you, and your family.
{{{{{{gentle hugs}}}}}}}
Michelle
More thoughts and prayers coming from PA. Seeing all the pictures just drives home how unfair this all is. Sherman looks like he's always been such a sweet and happy boy, and so doesn't deserve this.
Please give him some gentle hugs, pets, and a kiss on that sweet nose of his. Big hugs going out for your family and Star as well.
Oh Pat - I'm sitting here with LES.
you come to us anytime......
we know -
we understand
and we are here!
More hugs and prayers going your way this morning.(((HUGS)))
How are you feeling today Sherman? Hope you can feel the waves of love heading your way darling boy
Pat... there is NO need for you to appoligize for "going on about this"
Even though he does not belong to all of us... he is one of our own.
We are here for you, JoJo, Sherman and Star, and we're all still pulling for a miricale for our Shermie boy.
Here's some pics of the boy that I have.
Here's both of them waiting for you to come bakc in the park.

More thoughts, prayers an hugs headed your way.
I'm at work and I can't quit thinking about you guys. I keep getting online to see how Sherman is.
Always thinking of you and praying for you.
Please don't be sorry for talking to us about Sherman. I only wish I had PT in my life back in 2005 when we were going through this same thing with DJ.
This is what PT is for and I'm so glad to be a part of it.
Hugs to ALL of you!! :)
Still thinking of you all today. *hugs*
:( Sherman did not have a good night. His nights are far worse than his days. Listening to him gasp & choke for hours is almost unbearable. He's trying so hard to be a good boy, and lie very still just so he can breathe.
I contacted Nancy (the pet psychic) and she graciously called me this morning. (I am grateful, as she doesn't generally get right back to people so fast) We spoke for a long time.
I think it's a question of when rather than if. Please pray that we (and especially Sherman) "can accept the things we cannot change". We have been trying to "change the things we can", and now we need "the wisdom to know the difference."
I hate this.
LES :(
{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}
That was very nice of Nancy to call you so quickly.
I will continue to pray for you all.
Please give a hug to Sherman from me and his girlfriend Sierra and tell him that we love him. :(
I send you the largest comforting hug that I can muster.
You have my prayers. Nancy is the best, so I am glad that you could talk to her.
Pat...am I right in sensing that Nancy found that Sherman really loves his family - and is doing all he can to stay? Fighting to be with you.
I am sure you have thought of this...but Sherman might need reassurance that it is okay for him to let go, just as some people do.
Give that handsome boy a hug. And hugs and prayers to all of you.

I'm so very glad to hear that you contacted Nancy and she got in touch with you so quickly.
I hope she was able to tell you some things to be of help and if he's just hanging around because he doesn't want to let you down maybe now he can go knowing it's OK.
Gosh, I just can't quit crying over this. I feel for you guys....:(
I just don't know what to say. We are all still here doing our best to help you through this difficult time. We are gathered around you and holding your hand. We are here for you.
Many hugs coming your way.
Sherman, sweetie just have to tell you again that I love you.
{{{HUGS}}}
I like the others really dont know what to say. :( I feel awful for you I cant imagine what this is doing to you and your hubby. You are in my thoughts and prayers every single day. I was thinking about you last night before I went to sleep. We might not all know each other here on PT but I feel like everyones fur kids are like my own, I love them and its heartbreaking when things like this happen. (((Hugs)))
No, no, it doesn't have to do with hanging on to please us, I'll post in a few minutes...just got off the phone with the vet & I have to make a couple calls....
Pat... I'm glad Nancy got back with you quickly. I hope she was able to help in some way. *HUGS*
I'm sorry this is happening to you guys. Lots of love and prayers sent.
I really don't know what to say, Pat. I am so very sorry. :( You, Sherman, Star and JoeJoe are in my thoughts and prayers. Life just is so unfair at times. :( my heart goes out to you all. please give Sherman a gentle hug for me. I just love that gorgeous boy of yours.
:(
BIG {{{HUGS}}}
to
* Pat & JoJoe,
* Star,
* and of course to Dear Sherman
Sending MANY {{{{hugs}}} to you all.
And a special one to Sherman.
Sierra, again sends all her love to her Shermie.
...oh I just can't stop crying... :(
I'm so sorry Pat.
:( The cytology report is back. No signs of fungus or bacteria... it is a very aggressive lung cancer that is spreading rapidly. It's unusual to see it in such a young dog. There is nothing more they can do.
This is not a light nor quick decision. So please, no critisism.
There is no point putting this off until he is so racked with pain he can't stand it. As much as this hurts, putting it off for a few more days would be rather selfish on our part.
We are ready. Our wonderful RB girl Rosie, is here to led Sherman to the Rainbow Bridge. (I felt she was here, and Nancy saw her.) Goofy girl, she's SO happy & excited, so happy to please us. Nancy says her little tail is wagging non stop :) )
Sherman is preparing himself. She could feel the heaviness & discomfort in his chest. He's ready. He will be on his way to the Rainbow Bridge later this evening.
I keep thinking of the line from Little Big Man,
"Today is a good day to die".
And so it is.
Huge Hugs to you and Jo Jo, Pat.
May you have a peaceful trip Sherman. We will miss you. :( :(
Oh Pat. :( We are all with you.
Take care.
