Think positive! Breath deeply and wait to hear what the doc says! It is not necessarily bad news!
Loads of hugs!
OK, stop playing with my emotions......LOL
She just called again and apologized but she had about 6 PET scans on her desk. She did confirm that the surgery was a "go ahead" but he still wants to meet with me to discuss things. This conversation had no mention of biopsy. Dr. Yee will be calling me before I go home tonight.
My stomach is in knots and right now I'm starting to feel sick. Who wants to come and visit me? I'm shaking like a leaf....and that's no pun about Gini's tree. Speaking of which, she needs to post some pictures of that "trimmed tree".
I would love to come and visit you right now, but sadly it would be quite a while before I actually reached you! :D You would be asleep!
Glad you will definitely get to speak to the doctor today.
Hang in there sweetie, we are here with you!!!
And you are surrounded by angels who will support you too.
Give this mountain to God and just hang on!
I am taking this news as very positive also..............praying to God that it hasn't spread!
Lordy, Slick, how can you think about my tree at a time like this.
(I do have pictures - and I will post them soon)
Just hang in there, we are ALL with you!!
Not knowing is HARD but think of it this way, knowing won't change things.
So RELAX!
I am sure the scan just confirmed what he thinks is going on...and he wants you to know.
You know...there's a few days when the office is shutting down here. I'll have to check your surgery date again.
I'll fly into Abbotsford, be a bag lady at the airport, and hitchhike to your place and take you out for lattes!
HUGS!
The first thing my D-In-Law Jenny asked me this morning was "so today Slick is going in to get results?". When I said you were waiting for a call (this was at 4:30 this morning East Coast time) she said, puzzled like, "Well they usually ask me to come in person to decide what's next and I've been cancer free for ages!!" That's a good sign Slick.
I decided to put this in colour because it's time to celebrate...well...kind of....
Quote:
"There are multiple small pulmonary nodules present within both lungs. A 9.0 mm nodule is present with the left upper lobe, a 10.0 mm nodule is present within the right lower lobe and a 7.00 mm nodule is present within the right middle lobe."
These nodules are in addition to the one that was biopsied. The Dr. reassured me that the nodules that are referred to are nothing to be worried about at this point but will be monitored very carefully over the next few years. He's almost positive they are benign because they didn't pick up any dye. My lymph nodes are clear and no other cancer is present. :) So the surgery is on and my right upper lobe will be removed along with my lymph nodes.
He faxed me about 4 pages of "stuff" and believe me, I don't have a clue what half of it means but I have resources here who can help me with that. I will go over this material and have my questions ready when I meet with him on Thursday morning. Oh yes, the notes also say that I have a Hiatal Hernia. Well, I know what that is and that doesn't worry me in the least.
He ended off the conversation with "Don't worry. You're not going to die from this, OK?"
Much relieved, I hung up the phone and immediately decided to have a Lemon Drop tonight. Who wants to join me??
I'd say it is HIGH TIME for a Lemon Drop!!!( slides the candy dish across the table!!)

This is the BEST NEWS of the day!!! So, so relieved for you - now you can ace that surgery without the added stress of "what ifs?"
Take extra special care of yourself and enjoy those lemon drops :D
Betty
Slick - that is terrific news! Is bartender Richard pouring those lemon drops? :D
I know it will be hard to digest but do try to read all the stuff. Pay attention to the lymph node stuff - I suffer from lymphedema after they took 9 nodes from me during my breast cancer surgery. The scar tissue that forms can sometimes cause blockage in the lymph system, which leads to swelling - you don't want to get it and they can't predict who will get it, but when they touch the lymph nodes, it is a possibility. Ask your surgeon before your surgery to explain it to you and precautions to take after your surgery.
That all said - let's party!
Glad to hear good news!!! Still keeping you in our thoughts
All I can say is THANK GOD!
I've been keeping you in my thoughts & prayers & will continue to do so. Hang in there! ;)
Slick, this is wonderful news!!!:D:D
Lemon drops for breakfast? Oh well why not. We're celebrating after all. :D
hmmm, 7:27 a.m. and I'm at work reading this, but it's OK... LES but nobody else is in yet. Too early to call you? (I went to bed really early last night). Oh dear, this would make it not quite 4:30 morning your time. Guess I'll wait a bit
So very glad to hear this! I know you're relieved and so are we. *throws confetti and passes out noise makers*
Wonderful, wonderful news!!!! :D
Woohoo, that is EXCELLENT news!!!!
:D Woohhooo Slick!!! :D So glad you finally got some good news, but then again, I didn't expect anything less.
Wonderful news, Slick....now let's get this show on the road!
6:40 AM is a little early for me to start in on a lemon drop - but how about I just have a glass of orange juice with you?
Slick, wonderful news - I yelled out when I read your post - did you hear me?
As if cancer wasn't enough....I decided to smash my toe into the side of the couch last night. It's the third toe on my right foot and I'm sure it's broken because it's swollen and hurts like a son of a you-know-what. Right now I've got it taped to the second toe so hopefully it will heal quickly. Still, things could be worse.
Laurie: I've been awake since 4am.....my time......
Sara: Couldn't agree with you more. I just want this over and done with.
RH: Thanks for the advice and I'll ask the surgeon tomorrow morning.
To the rest of you, your support means more than you'll ever know. I wish I had everyone's phone number so I could call each of you and thank you. Big {{{hugs}}} to you all.
Edit: Gini, you and I posted at the same time. Yes I did hear you. Did you hear me yell back??? Lemon Drop for breakfast...come on, live a little. :D :p
Well Slick, you've succeeded in making me cry even BEFORE my first coffee. With your spunk, determination and strong will, you're gonna be fine! And don't forget, you've got my number. Anytime or anything you need ANYTHING, call me?? Got that??
In the meantime, ((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))), MY FRIEND.
Slick, I'm beyond happy to hear the results!! :D :D :D I'll certainly join you and have a Lemon Drop - right now!!Quote:

WOOHOO!!!
What a relief!!
I just have to share this. When I got into work on Monday there was a package on my desk from two coworkers who work at a branch office in Kelowna, BC. I opened it up and giggled. They sent me a rather large colouring book - all of cats, of course - and a huge box of coloured pencils. Looks like I'll be busy in the hospital. "Oh Mr. cute doctor, would you like to see my pencils???" :D :D
:D You'll be the most popular patient there!!!
Oh, by the way, didn't I tell you that with a name like PETScan it would be ok? ;)
Still grinning here!!! Oh, did you get the moon pics I emailed?
for those wondering: they were pics of the real moon, not my bare bottom] :D
OH MOFF, you should have just let us wonder for awhile about those pictures ;) :D
:D :DQuote:

Slick - a couple of lemon drops and your toe won't hurt anymore - heck, NOTHING will hurt and if it does, you won't remember :D
and Moff (_|_) :p
