Susan,
Could Sasha's mouth sores be from the chemo? Sometimes when humans have chemo they get mouth sores. The chemo affects fast growing cells in the body - that is how they attack the cancer. The mucous membranes in the mouth and down the esophagus are also fast growing cells and the chemo may also attack them as an unwanted side effect. It might be worth asking the vet oncologist about before they go messing around with her teeth. There are meds that people use to relieve the discomfort and enable them to eat better.
Poor Sasha having to go through this! I've had chemo and it is NO FUN! I can't imagine how a little kitty deals with it.
My gang of eight and I are keeping fingers and paws crossed that Sasha comes through this with flying colors.

Sweet Sasha!!!!
I just read all the way back to the beggining of this thread!!! I have seen pictures of Sasha before and wanted to comment how much she looks like our dear Miss BooBoo Kitty(RIP 5/11//04), a white tortie like Sasha!! If Sasha is anything like Boo, she IS a fighter and loaded with that wonderful tortitude!!! I will go to www.rainbowsbridge.com to post a prayer request for Sasha in the Candlelight Room(under New Beginings). While I am cleaning at the Monastery tomorrow, I will be praying for Sasha!!!

Can you ask for Buprenex for the mouth pain, whether it is a tooth or a sore, it could help. If that is the problem with the appetite, it will help immediately, if it doesn't then the problem is something else.
Also, can you get her on A/D + nutrical or Feline Rebound liquid Diet?
These have added calories and can be syringed.
Hoping for positive outcome for Miss Sasha.
Be strong for her.

Thank you, Susan, for taking time to update us on how Sasha is doing. The news about her mouth sores is distressing. I too would think that they must be a result of the chemo. And of course we we will pray the this UTI can finally be overcome so that Sasha can concentrate on battling that cancer.
Dear Sasha, your loving spirit and kindness has long been noticed and appreciated here at Pet Talk. You have so many fans and probably many, like me, have taken it for granted that you would always be here for us. The thought of you being sick and having to deal with the many complications and exhaustion of fighting to be well again is almost too much to bear. We just love you, little girl. I only wish we could put all those good feelings for you into a pill because if we could, it would be a miracle cure for all your ills. We worry too about your Katma and PawPaw, because you are the world to them. We will pray for all of you. Just don't give up, pretty girl. I am looking forward to seeing those pictures of *our Sasha*.

Beautiful sasha, please keep fighting for your wonderful purrsons. Try to eat for us, baby, we are all thinking of you so much!
The girls are sending healing vibes and the most special of headbumpies.

Prayers to you, Sacha. Please be strong, sweetie, don't give up!

I am so glad to see an update, Susan and Murray, but sad that Sasha is suffering from those mouth sores. Precious girl doesn't deserve that on top of everything else.
We are keeping her in our prayers and hope that you can entice her with some good food or drink and keep her strength up as she goes forward.
Much love,
Logan, Butter and Mimi :)

Sorry it took me so long to find the update. I have no idea about what could help- but I think the first thing is that UTI has to go! Hope it happens soon:)

I know Sasha is on so many meds now, but there must be something that they can give her to make her mouth feel better. I sure hope she is feeling better today and that the UTI is clearing up. Be strong Sasha, I know it is a tough and discouraging fight right now, but you will get through it. We are all pulling for you and praying for you and your purrents. Hugs & prayers to all!

Dear Sasha,
We just wanted you to know that we were thinking about you tonight and hoping that you are feeling better.

Too bad they don't make Neulasta for kitties. (That's for people on chemo to help boost the immune system and fight infections.)

SASHA, our darling girl
Update on our Precious Sasha the Queen Calico Cat
On Tuesday [Aug 9th] Sasha was examined by her doctor. Our darling has not been eating or drinking very much. Upon examination our very gentle veterinarian told us that now it is the time to let Sasha eat and drink whatever she likes—things like cream, ice-cream, tuna, salmon and other goodies she loves which have not been a part of her very healthy prescription cat food diet. Sasha’s doctor said now it is time for us to totally spoil our precious little girl and to make sure the rest of her days are as comfortable as possible, with all of the things she loves.
Sasha will not resume chemotherapy. The diagnosis is the cancer has spread to her bladder—our precious Sasha’s days are nearing the end. We will love her, spoil her, hold her and treasure what time we have left together. Sasha's veterinarian will make house calls to check on our darling. Most important of all, she will tell us when it is time to let Sasha go in peace to prevent any suffering.
We are heart-broken with this sad news but have resolved to make each moment Sasha is with us a good moment for her. We believe “any day with Sasha is a good day”. We hope there are many more.
We are devastated knowing we will lose our baby. Thankfully the support of all of the pets and people of this Forum gives us strength. It means so much that you take the time to help us through this. Sasha feels your love and so do we.

So sorry to hear your news. I know exactly what you are going through as I lost my heart kitty Sooty, to cancer in April. It is hard knowing that their days are numbered, but it is so important to treasure these coming days and try not to get upset - easier said than done!
[[[[HUGS]]]] and prayers on their way to Sasha and your family. She is is a gorgeous girl, reminds me a bit of my Twinkle.

I am so sorry that the prognosis is not better. It is sad knowing the end might be near. But spoil her and love her and remember all the years past. She will always be with you even after she leaves this life. Praying that all your days are pain free.
