Poor Andy, I feel kinda sorry for him.............all of us waiting to see if he can pee on his own in the bathroom...........and not into the bottle.
That's o.k. Andy - never you mind. Just look down at what is on your feet - and laugh and laugh.
WE WANT PICTURES!
WE WANT PICTURES!

Andy I think I understand why you are not yet walking that much. Having all these meds in your organism will sure make you sleepy. But if you force yourself to walk on your bear claws, you will get them out quicker!
And of course the eating: Just look at Kia and learn eating like a dog:D
All the best to you and Kim:)
-
Andy you do know how much we all care about you and the odd giggle is good for what ails you!!
Lets face it - where Phred's concerned, you just gotta giggle:D :D
So the whole wide world is waiting for you to get to the bathroom???? Don't feel any pressure will you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe Kim could sneak in some decent food for you - that would be such a welcome change from hospital food;) ;) ;) ;)
All that aside - keeping you in thoughts and prayers and just Get Well. {{{Hugs}}}}

Andy:
Still praying that today, your "output" is just as good as your "input"!!

Just got off the phone with Andy. He ate breakfast and sat up to do it. His lunch hasn't arrived yet and he hasn't got out of bed yet to do some 'hall shuffling'. He was actually surprised that he hadn't yet, but from what I hear, he will be very soon.
Colin (one of his roommates) had just arrived, and was chatting with the nurse while I was on the phone with Andy.
I overheard Colin emphasize that Andy needed to eat ALL of his food and Andy put me on hold and started to protest saying that he's always had 3 to 4 meals a day.
That upset me and I chewed him out and he readily admitted that he doesn't eat full meals like he should.
Not sure if he was really agreeing with me or just too tired to argue.
He started to sound a bit winded and asked if I'd call back later.
Hopefully he'll be more mobile when I check in again.

Kimmy, maybe you not seeing him today will be the incentive he needs to get up out of bed and *walk* to the baffroom. ;) Hopefully he knows the more he gets up and walks the quicker he'll be home and the quicker he's home the more he can see you again. See, you just gotta use the right incentive. ;)
I like the "EAT this GOOD Food - or I'll SIT on ya!!" technique too. Hopefully his friend will be a very good influence and he'll start feeding himself correctly.
Good luck Andy! {{{hugs}} to both of you!

Wow, Kim. I just saw this!!!
I'm so glad Andy's doing better! How scary! Good thoughts going out for you all.
He needs to get up and get moving, it's the only way to get better, but I know how hard it is to make yourself do it!

Guys, you're crazy! :) Well, this makes it easier for everyone now. We were so worried.
Come on, Andy, get better and better!
-
Glad the news is good. :)
Thanks for the updates, we're worried about you guys.

Kim you need to have his Mom tell the nurses no in room company . They can wait for him to WALK to the waiting room to visit. He NEEDS to get off his butt and walk. I have work with people who fight getting up and it only slows down the healing process. 2 hours after my hubbys lung collapsed from not moving from his cancer surgruy the Doc made him get up so the lung didn't fill up with fluids. I don't mean to scary you but he has to get moving forall systems to work .

Corinna, believe me I know! :( On Monday when the nurses wanted him out of bed and in a chair, everytime they came in the room he asked for something to put him to sleep.
And I'd chide, No...you can't. You need to GET UP!
I just called him back and he said the nurses haven't even got him out of bed yet and walking.
I asked, "Don't you want out of the hospital?"
"Yes."
"Then tell the nurses you want out of bed!"
"Okay."
Though I'm sure the second I hang up, he'll just take a nap.
*sighs*
He sounds good, but tired. They've changed his meals to be high in protein.
