But, he's a tremendous actor in other ways, too...He's like a chameleon, he can do anything. I thought it was a great movie. :)
The Corpse Bride. Loved it! It's beautifully done, and, the music, done by Danny Elfman, of course, is so clever and fun! Johnny Depp's character is so charming and clumsy. I thought Emily Watson's voice was perfect, it's like bells. It's amazing what Tim Burton can do with clay! The little dog, Scraps, is really cute...like the ghost dog, Zero, in The Nightmare Before Christmas!
I bought and watched "The Goonies" last night, great movie :D. And also "Boys Dont Cry" with Hilary Swank, i finally found it on DVD interesting movie.
Isnt "Boys Dont Cry" a wild movie? I think Hilary Swank did an outstanding job in that movie. I think she is a great actress, I dont know why she isnt in more movies....Quote:

Yes, I did see Million Dollar Baby. Outstanding movie! The cast was perfect together. Clint Eastwood did an amazing job, as did Morgan Freeman. It was a very moving movie. One of the best I have seen in a long time. That and Crash ;)
I saw Million Dollar Baby last weekend. It was good. I hated her family in that movie!
I also saw the movie, Crash. It was very good. Great acting and the story line makes you think. It's about racism in America.
I'm watching the new Amytiville Horror this weekend.
Jada yeah it is pretty wild. Hilary is amazing. I would love to see her in more movies *Sigh*.
Kari, i actualy have a copy of million dollar baby on DVD but i have never watched it. I will do so tonight. If it is anything like her other movies then i will probably enjoy it.

I could never quite put my finger on it. But, I didn't get that feeling at all watching her in this movie. I saw it the day the Oscars were taking place, because it and the Aviator were the only two I hadn't seen, yet, that were up for best picture. I was so happy when it won.
Let us know what you think of it...I haven't watched anything else of hers in so long, I can't tell you if it's like anything else she's done. But, just on it's own merit, it's an astounding piece of art. Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swank have this incredible, surprising chemistry that just left me feeling intoxicated, it was wonderful.Quote:

And, please...tell me what you think of the Amytiville movie, I've yet to see it...
Ugh, last night we watched "A Clockwork Orange" because DBF had never seen it and wanted to. I forgot how much I don't like that movie. I'm going to go see The Corpse Bride to make up for it. :)
Ha ha, I love Stanley Kubrick, and, Orange is one of my favorites, although it's been ages since I saw it. Did DBF (what does that stand for, anyway?) like it? I saw the Corpse Bride, I loved it! I love how Burton can even make clay loveable. ;)Quote:

Its a rainy day here in N.C.
My husband brought home Sin City, and The Longest yard.
Ill let you know what we think.
We did see crash, and thought it was good. And yes it does make you think.
Also saw Million $ Baby, excellent!
Also Fever Pitch, thought it was a good movie. Very cute.
Monster-In-Law, was great, we both thought it was funny. Jane Fonda did a super job.
The Ring 2,was good your typical scary thriller.
Beauty Shop was ok, nothing spectacular.
Just to name a few. ;)
Will let you know on the 2 we watch tonight. :)
Melissa and I watched Raise your voice with Hilary duff, oh dear not exactly a great movie, Melissa got bored and went upstairs, I stuck it out, but I certainly would not give it a great rating.
Going to watch The Clearing this weekend with the great Robert Redford and excellent British Actress Helen Mirren.
Yeah, please do, especially on Sin City. It's really different, so keep that in mind. :) I loved it, though! I like it when movies are filmed with the use of different mediums...like some animation, some live action, etc. I haven't seen the Longest Yard, yet, but, i have heard it's funny!Quote:

And, the music was really good, but, not at all what I would have expected from a sci fi film. The music didn't fit, but, it was perfect, if that makes any sense. Anyway, it was a fun film!
Last night I watched a film called Powder, starring Sean Patrick Flanery as a young albino boy with unique powers. Jeff Goldblum has a small part in it too. :) I really liked the film, it made me cry in parts too which I don't do that often.
Cold Mountain is waiting in the wings for this weekend. :)
I loved Powder! Sean Patrick Flanery is so good in it! (On a side note, he's in one of my favorite movies called The Boondock Saints!) Powder made me cry, too. I didn't really like Cold Mountain, but, it's worth seeing!Quote:

I have seen Cold Mountain, I think you will enjoy it.
Thanks for the tip, I've just found it and put it on my A list. :DQuote:

Today they sent me Monty Python and the Holy Grail and also The Boondock Saints. Methinks I have some good watching ahead. :D
Yeah, I didn't like Cold Mountain. Have you ever seen the Holy Grail? That's one of my favorite comedies...another one that you should see if you like goofy stuff is Young Frankenstein...it's Mel Brooks, so, it's really silly. I hope you like the Boondock Saints, it is pretty intense, with some really bloody scenes. I think it's awesome, though...the way it's filmed and the score behind it. Wow. And, two hot Irish boys, that's all I really need, anyway. ;) My favorite scene (the music is really cool!) is with the toilet. Ha ha. I hope you like it!Quote:

kari you mean you watched that boring movie again, lol, I am just kiddin ya, I know how much you liked it and I didn't, cold mountain was ok I thought, nothing to write home about, but i did not hate it, tell me ChrisH and Kari what was it you disliked about it.?
I just watched Just Like Heaven starring Resse Witherspoon. I liked it a lot. Very good movie that has many laughs and is a tear jerker in some parts. Will watch it again.
I watched The Station Agent again the other night. Its the second time I've seen and its a really good movie.
Kari, I also like Lost In Translation. Good movie.
i'm going to go watch elizabethtown
All the movies sound great! There has been a lot of movies mentioned in this thread. ;) This is page 54 of this thread. I guess you all love to go to the movies or rent them,,,So do I. ;) I just finished watching The Interpreter with Nicole Kidman, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I cried in the second one. The friends were touching in the movie. ;)
I saw In Her Shoes last night. I really enjoyed it!
I can't say I disliked it, just that I found it kind of boring. :)Quote:

Not sure that I would like Young Frankenstein, I'm not keen on Mel Brooks.
I like the two Python films maybe because it is a sort of British (?) humour. I'm not a massive Python fan but I do love some or the sketches they did in the tv series, The Ministry of Silly Walks, The Dead Parrot, Micheal Palin's Lumberack song to name a few. :D I loved John Cleese's Fawlty Towers tv series too.

But, maybe I am just thinking about the generic responses I have to a lot of films that don't catch my attention. Like I said, it's been awhile!
I know it, it's one of my favorites. Just how simple and complicated and heartfelt and sad and beautiful it is. I love how Coppola depicted Tokyo, and, I really liked the karaoke scene where they were each singing, and, it was cool that they were actually singing, and, not all that awesome at it. The whole thing was just so natural, and, the scenes where Murray's trying to communicate with the Japanese director and the photographer asking him to imitate all the old movie stars, it's so funny and sad at the same time. The most outright funny part, though, is the stairmaster thing, oh man. Anyway, I'll shut up now. :DQuote:

I don't remember her name, but, I remember she had a cute little dog named Trouble. Typical of me to remember the dog's name, but, not hers! ;) I remember we could choose any town, and, somehow we got a penpal from the town we chose. And, I chose that particular town because my mother's name is Elizabeth. :DQuote:

I think The motorcycle Diaries was filmed here in NZ, correct me if I am wrong, anyone going to see The worlds fastest Indian, it was filmed most part here in NZ too and is about NZer Burt Munro, anthony Hopkins played him, it has not debuted here except in one south Island Town, but I heard it got rave reviews at the film festival in Canada, I am eager to hear Anthony's NZ accent, he is a brilliant actor so no doubt he did a good job, produced by NZer Roger Donaldson, let me know what you all think when you see it?
The lion, the witch and the wardrobe (hope I got that right, hopeless at getting names right of movies) and King Kong were also filmed in NZ.
Kari you know I found Lost in Translation the most boring movie ever, but i did find parts of it entertaining, something sure got lost on me for sure, I Just dont get those type of movies, it was slow and tedious, to me, but I know I am in the miniority with my opinion, as it did well here too.,everyone finds something different in each movie they view, interesting to hear one's opinions. :)and know that I am respectful of them.
Anne of Green Gables. I'm telling you, those three movies are so good...but, the first one with Matthew and Marilla just absolutely floors me every time I watch it. I love the characters like they're personal friends of mine, and, I hate when the movie ends. And, I need to read the books again, they are so incredible. If you haven't read the books or seen the films, and, you're a woman of any age, you really must. They are an absolute must for a young woman to read and see. I introduced my ex husband's niece to them when she was about 18 or 19, and, we cried like babies together while we watched them. It's one memory I will take with me always. Definitely a must see!
TOTALLY agree! I have been a fan of 'Anne' since I was little. I have all of the books and movies. I haven't watched any of the movies for quite a while, now I am in the mood for them! ;) I live Anne and Gilbert together, what a sweet, romantic couple!Quote:

I saw Serenity twice in the movie theater, and, now want to see the series it was from...the series is called Firefly. It's not a movie, but, I'll let y'all know what I thought of it. :)
i NEED TO SEE THAT MOVIE!!!Quote:

Then we watched The Boogeyman, I was not over-thrilled by it, even though it was kinda neat to see all the NZ scenery and our local actors, Lucy Lawless, and at least two others, I had read they did an apalling job of the American Accent and to be honest I had to agree, ( except for Lucy)not a great movie IMO., and No i was not even scared really.
Well, I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail last night, or rather I watched about half .... after around the first quarter I was so bored!! So much for all I wrote earlier! :o
The last movie's I watched were Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, and A Clockwork Orange. I have seen A Clockwork Orange many times, and it is one of my favorite movies. The Family Guy movie was hilarious :D
