Congratulations, Carmen!:D
Well, Clara is still breech, but we still have a lot of good amniotic fluid, so we are going to attempt to turn her tomorrow morning. We'll go in at 6:30, and the procedure will start around 7:30. Please keep us in your prayers! Best case scenario, she'll let us turn her, it won't traumatize her too much, I'll carry her to 40 weeks and she'll stay head down. ;) That's what we're praying for! For now, it's on to do more laundry! I didn't realize we'd received so many blankets as gifts! ;)
We'll be thinking of you!
Kari I've been thinking about you. I hope you're doing OK. Let us know how the procedure went. I've heard that manual turning is extremely painful. Hope you made it through OK and little Miss didn't get too upset with you, and the turning was a success.
Congratulations Carmen! I can't wait to meet your new beautiful girly! :D
And Yikes, Kari! I'm thinking of you, and hope everything went well! I will be watching this thread for an update. :)
It was a success! Clara is now head first and we are both just fine. The procedure went as hoped, with minimal stress to either of us. She's a trooper! Her heart rate dropped for just a few seconds and then went back to normal really quickly. Of course, there's still a chance she'll flip back to her possibly preferred position, but as of right now, she's in an ideal position. YAY!
The whole thing was fascinating. :) Dr. Rost is a wonderful man and did everything he said he would do, and nothing he said he wouldn't. For the most part, he'd warned me that it would be uncomfortable, but not really painful. He was right on. There was one spot that made me cringe, but even that wasn't terrible. A grown man's weight all on your midsection will cause some pressure, of course, but it really wasn't bad at all.
I was on an IV the entire time, with some pain meds, and boy did they knock me out. There was also one that made my heart race, so it was an odd feeling being sleepy, with a super fast heart rate. ;) The turning took less than three minutes, and then I was asleep within ten and stayed asleep for three of the four hours of monitoring. :)
He says I'll be sore like I had a good ab workout, but other than that, I can resume normal activities! So, I have some things planned this weekend.
Clara was really cooperative, and now you can all switch your prayers to her staying in the head down position! If you don't mind, of course. ;)
Now, let's all pray that Carmen and Laura are well and that we'll get to see pictures soon! Whee for baby girls!
Good girl Clara! Thanks for being cooperative, now stay that way, okay?
Yay!!!! Good news, Kari!! Glad I checked in tonight! :D
awesome news!!.. now to wait... ;)
Congratulations Carmen on your new baby girl!:D
Finn's mom, that is great that they were successful in turning your baby for you.:)
When I was pregnant with my daughter 13 years ago she was breech and I had the same procedure done but it didn't work. 3 times they got my daughter to turn halfway and then she stubbornly went back to breech position. I know how sore you are now. My daughter ended up being a breech delivery two weeks after the procedure, luckily she was just a little over 5 lbs so it was a quick delivery. I hope you have a nice easy delivery and that your baby girl stays in the right position for delivery now.:)
Thanks, everyone, for checking in on us! :) We are still a-ok! :)
And, Vermontcat, I'm actually not sore at all! I don't know that it might hit me later on today or tomorrow, but right now, I'm not feeeling it at all. I'm pretty surprised, actually! But, I guess I shouldn't be, my doctor is brilliant. :D
The strangest thing is how different my belly looks! Now that the majority of her weight is low, it looks completely different. I don't think she's dropped, yet, even after the turning, but I'm definitely carrying her lower, now. ;)
I'm so glad everything went well and Clara turned for you! I hope all is going well for Carmen and Laura, too!
hi everyone, i'm finally home with baby laura.
i'm writing with one hand as she is in my other arm.
the c-section went well.
she is healthy and was given a good bill of health yesterday.
i had to stay an extra day because of a complication.
so we both got home today around 2 pm.
i am so tired but it was so worth it.

Welcome, Laura Grace! I like your little sheepie sleeper! :)
Good job, mom, she's a beauty!
Carmen she's an angel! Congrats and blessings to you all. :)
And Kari, I'm so glad the procedure went well and hope little miss stays put. Quinn actually waited until just a couple weeks before delivery before she decided to turn. We actually scheduled a c-section and last minute changed the c-section to an induction since she turned. When she turned she was just a couple weeks from our due date and wow did I ever feel it. There was no doubt that she was turning when it finally happened....it took my breath away and was incredibly intense.
I can't wait to "meet" your little bundle also. I can't believe how fast this pregnancy flew past for both you and Carmen. Now Carmen's basking in the glory of motherhood and you're just about there yourself. Wowwie!
Oh my gosh, Carmen, she looks so much like you! She's wonderful and precious and perfect and look at her fingers! They're so long and tiny! I can't get over it, you created her! It's incredible. Sending lots of love from our family to yours. xoxoxoxoxoxo
Leslie, you are so right! It has flown by for me. I can't believe I've only got 16 days til Clara is due to arrive. My friend's baby turned the night before delivery! It's all up to the baby! :) They're not even born and already controlling everything, hahaha.
All of this has been such a surreal thing, it's been fantastic, to say the least!
eeeeeek... she´s so cute!!... congrats again Carmen!..
such a big baby.. glad it was a lil early...she loos so adorable..awwww...
I'm bumping this up so everyone can see Laura! She's so so cute!
What a cutie! Congratulations, again, Carmen!:D
She's such a beautiful baby! Congratulations again!
Oh Carmen! She's so beautiful! Congratulations!
Carmen, she is so beautiful!!!!! Congratulations! :)
Wow, she has her very own "look" to her. Beautiful. Can't wait for more pictures! Hope you and Laura are doing well.
Thanks guys. We are still doing well. Trying to get adjusted.
I am calling her my little eskimo baby because of how she squints.
I'll post more pictures when I have some extra time.
Kari, how are you feeling? I know it'll be soon for you. :)
Carmen, she's truly adorable. I think her nickname suits her. ;) You know we want to see photos, but take your time.
I feel great! Just getting the house ready for baby and parents. :) I think I picked up today the last couple things we needed (a breast pump and carrier). I have some shelves, shadow boxes and frames I want to put up in the nursery, and that will be done, too. My parents are bringing her bookcase and toy chest, so I have to wait to put out the books we have. :)
The external version went really well and it feels like she's still head first! YAY! We'll find out for sure on Thursday when we go in for our appointment. It's **really** different now that she's got more room to move! When she had her head, feet and hands all at the top, I felt lots of little clusters of movement, but now I actually see legs, arms, feet, etc. She's so active, it's unreal. Our doctor always laughs at her when we're doing the sonograms, because he can hardly keep up with her.
I'm so glad you all are doing well! You need to change your signature, it says you have five days to go. hahaha ;) Just joshin' you, but it makes me giggle when I see it!
And yet another wonderful angel has arrived at Pet Talk. We are so lucky - so many beautiful girls!
Keri - saying a soft prayer that all goes well for you too!
I just tried my baby carrier on, and practiced putting a stuffed animal in it. It is so much easier than a regular wrap/sling! I can't wait to see how Clara likes it! I know I love it, and even David was comfortable wearing the one he tried on at the store (with a baby boy in it!). I'd have to get him a different size, but we'll see how Clara likes it first, and how she likes the Baby Bjorn we got. If she or David don't like the Bjorn, we'll definitely be getting him one of the carriers I got for me.
We saw the tiny heart beats yesterday via ultrasound.. It still seems so surreal to us that there's actually a precious life growing inside of me..
It's truly a miracle in the making :)
Oh, I'm 7w5d today :)
Isn't it awesome? It still blows my mind/freaks me out/makes me happy that there's an entire other human being inside of my body! The heart beat was definitely part of that amazement! It doesn't get old seeing or hearing it. At least, not for me! ;) Can't wait to hear more updates as you get further along!
Awww, so happy for you. I too still can't believe I had a human growing inside of me. Such a miracle.
It makes a lot of problems in life look small.
Some sad news... I found out the day my baby was born that my dad may have cancer.
I had a feeling something was up...
My mom had to change her ticket. She left yesterday to see what is going on with dad.
At least she got to meet her grandchild and help me for a few days. If baby girl was born on time, she may not have gotten to meet her. Funny how things happen.
Baby Laura is giving me strength and keeping me sane.
Carmen, I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'm glad things have worked out the way they have, though, as far as Laura being here with you. :( Cancer is so sad. :(
I'm having issues with my sinuses so I'm heading to bed! But, I wanted to let you all know that little Miss Clara is behaving! She is head first, back on my left side, small parts on the right...plenty of amniotic fluid, still. She hasn't dropped, yet. We have our next appointment on Wednesday to check my progress (to see if and how far I'm dilated), and then the next appointment will be the following Monday, the 17th - her due date! That is, if she's not already here!
Glad to hear she's being a good baby! Feel better soon!
I'm getting so excited for you Kari.
It'll be great!
I guess I should change or remove my siggy.
Yeah, still not feeling great today, but I'll be all right. I'm just going to do some light cleaning and then rest for the rest of the evening. Maybe I'll watch a movie later. I think it's just allergies messing with me, but I'm taking my temp every once in awhile to be safe.
Clara's room is so wonderful, it is the first room in my life that I've ever had a theme and really decorated, so I'm proud of it. :) I can't wait to get our first home together as a family and do that in every room!
I'm right at 150 now, and still feeling great overall (except the sinuses). Haven't had any real contractions (that I've noticed), but I have the practice ones pretty regularly. Not much else to report!
I hope all you ladies and babies are doing great!
I was just wondering how everyone is doing. I see that Kari hasn't updated in a few days- any news? I hope all the moms and babies are doing great!
Tomorrow Lyra will be 6 months old so I will probably post some pictures. :)
Lyra has really changed over the last month. She has been sleeping longer at night, usually for 7 or 8 hours a stretch- though last night she slept almost 10 hours straight! She is rolling over, and she can sit unassisted but doesn't have great balance yet. Her new favorite sound to make is blowing raspberries.
Here are some pictures of Lyra over the last month or so...
Playing with her new toy today.
