That game had just begun when I posted.

Ellie - my thoughts exactly! I didn't stay up to watch and this morning at 5:00AM I woke up wondering. I told myself to go back to sleep but I couldn't stand it. I stumbled through the darkness to get to my computer and go to www.Phillies.com. Then I was so happy that I couldn't go back to sleep. Thank God this game will be earlier.
The hubby was wiser than I. He took a little afternoon nap yesterday in order to stay up but he said he did doze a bit. He woke up to see Brad Lidge pitching again and got worried, but thank God he made the save. :)
Pam,
I hate to tell you this-
Baseball Jesus' season is over.
Something about a rotator cuff injury.:(
We all are on our own from now on.;)
-----------
Problems all across the planet and a baseball score is keeping you awake?
My fingernails are history and my heart needs a defibrillator but we will see the Dodgers in LA!!!!:cool::cool:
Thank goodness I dozed off while Colorado was still leading. This old ticker probably would have given out if I had seen the 9th inning!
And the Phillies keep marching on... :D
Good thing that the first game with the Dodgers is in Cali-forn-ya. Philly is gonna get a nor'easter tomorrow with lots of rain and wind gusts that could get as high as 50 mph! Not good baseball weather at all.

Hmmmm,
This was inevitable-I was listening to a local radio show where the little missus was doing an interview as the CEO of the team.
The radio host began to comment on her arms-she's very proud of them and swims miles every day to keep them in shape!-she started to flirt with the hosts and it was pretty apparent then that things weren't right in her marriage. If that radio interview didn't end the marriage? I'd say that FM is a wussy of the grandest type.
If it had been a male CEO doing the interview that way? He would have had his bits trimmed, cleaned and hung on a wall as a trophy.
She's a smart, tough as nails bee yotch that knows exactly what side the bread is buttered on.
P.S. Check out the photos you will see of her.
Those tanned guns are always on display!;):D
-----------------------
The local ESPN outlet did a little speculation about the split during the p.m. show and they hinted at the turmoil with in the org. One radio host said that working for the team was pretty bad and people are ready to jump ship..
THis is one of the stupidest decisions the team has ever made-why would you make a statement about the split on the eve of a playoff appearance? Put a fork in them, the media will start to ask how it will affect the team.......
It's over Johnny!
Just like the Barrett Robbins fiasco at the SuperBowl.....as soon as I heard that news?
One down! ;)
At least have a little sportsmanship and make fun of the Dodgers....Not just a 'one down' little dig, you smug Phillies fan.;)
What happened to Cole?:p:D:confused:
Nah, no teasing. The Dodgers put up a good game. It was very exciting to watch although I must admit that my palms do get sweaty especially when Manny walks up to the plate.
Cole probably had his mind on his little newborn baby boy 3,000 miles away. :p It looks like maybe Brad Lidge is returning to his former self. (Where is a crossed finger icon when you need one? :p )
OK Richard, it's your turn to gloat. :p I honestly don't know why Charlie Manual took Pedro out. He said he wasn't tired and has pitched 9 innings before. It all fell apart after that and, of course, Chase Utley made that horrible throw to Ryan Howard ruining that double play which would have ended some of the mess. *sigh* Well it's back to Philly and the cold! LOL! :p:D
PHILADELPHIA  CLIFF LEE! What a game!!! 11-0!!!:cool::cool:
That's not gloating.
That's was low and inside....:D
I have the feeling that the Mc Court marriage deal will have a little to do with this crash.
I can hardly wait for the post season stories about the LADs...
THe local media are treating it as a non-story. Most of the coverage are general stories taken from the wires. That should be interesting when the writers feel comfortable enough to write about it.
MLB's bylaws say that their can only be ONE team owner. The MC C's both are stating that they are both part owners.
Richard will just have to bear with us for a while Ellie! :p My brother e-mailed this pic to me today. I liked it a lot because I used to work in the PNB building on the 24th floor and my view out the window was Billy Penn. ;)
I don't know the answer to your question Ellie. Sounds like a job for Google. :)
17 minutes 'til first pitch!
ONE MORE GAME TO GO!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU JIMMY ROLLINS!:love::cool:
Just as I thought, Billy Penn never played for the Phils.
Go to sleep.
:D
Thank goodness there's a day to rest up before the Phillies play again. What an awesome game last night! This has been one heck of a series so far.
Just one more to clinch it. They can do it!!! :D
I have seen the game turn on a dime many times in the ninth inning - for the good and for the bad. These ninth innings have caused the blood pressure of many Phillies fans to rise I am sure! (I should view these ninth innings with a glass of Richard's DOTD by my side! LOL!) Last night as Jimmy stepped up to the plate I thought...."Jimmy you can do this." ... and he did!!!! :):)
I'm rooting for the Phillies, but it seems like they always have nailbiting games with the Dodgers! GO PHILLIES!
Three more outs and we are on our way to the World Series again!!!:cool:
YAY PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)
David, my daughter-in-law is from an area just south of Erie. She now lives down here in South Jersey and has become an avid Phillies fan. You just can't help it! The fever is contagious! She said "I never knew baseball could be so exciting." :) Glad to have you cheering from Pittsburgh! ;)
From Yahoo news -
Quote:
LOS ANGELES – A lawyer for Dodgers CEO Jamie McCourt says she has been fired after her marital separation from the team's owner.
Attorney Dennis Wasser says his client learned Thursday she was no longer employed by the Dodgers, who ended their season Wednesday with a National League championship series loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
McCourt and team owner Frank McCourt separated earlier this month.
Wasser says Jamie McCourt is disappointed and saddened by her termination. He says she'll address her firing in court.
Jamie McCourt was the highest-ranking woman in Major League Baseball.
(In my best John Sterling imitation)
THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES LOOOOOOOOOOOSE!,
THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES LOOOOOOOOOOOSE!
:p
For those of you not subjected to the NY Yankees radio team, the announcer, John Sterling, is possibly the most annoying homer in the business. He has stupid nicknames/catch phrases for every player on the Yankees. (If I hear the "It's an A-bomb for A-rod" call once more I'm going to rip the radio out of the car dashboard) His color commentator, Susan Waldmann, is actually pretty knowledgable about the game, but has a really, really, annoying accent. Between the pair, it's tough to listen to a Red Sox-Yankees game out here (If you're a Sox fan).
I hated Charlie Steiner when he first came to the D's-he's a good announcer,
I cannot stand Chris Berman in any way shape or form. LOL, I always dream of meeting people (stars) on the street and letting them know what I think.
I want to put my foot in the tube when CB does the "RAIDUHS" schtick.
They are literally the raid DUHS!
----------
I have to say that Vin Scully is the absolute best.
He's probably as impartial as he can be and he's a delight to listen to.
"Welcome to D Stadium tonight where the Dodgers have a date with the San Diego Padres. The Padres come in on the wave of a 5 game winning streak and for a piece of first place in the division....."
He makes it sound like you are really missing a great game and as he goes along he mixes stats with trivia that you really don't care about - but you are really interested in the player's career before he finishes.
Chick Hearn is still missed and the announcer for the El Lay Kings-Bob Miller- is another solid dude.
Chick Hearn-Lakers-40 years
Bob Miller-Kings -36 years
Vin Scully-Dodgers-59 years.
135 years of broadcasting! and it's all here in El Lay!;)
Any of you ever hear Ernie Harwell? The only announcer ever traded for a player - back in 1948.
With the Tigers for 42 years. One class act.
The new Yankee Stadium - old already?
