Beloved Duke is at RB...

Sweetie - didn't mean to make you cry. I did smile at the part where Blemie is telling his owners exactly WHAT the next dog should be like...which made me think that Duke was right fussy about who your next companion should be too!

Val, that poem,' OLD DOG IN A LOCKET' is so touching. I have some of Mandy's hair. I could do that. Now I just need a locket. I have one on a bracelet but would like it near my heart.

This time last year, I was on the floor beside you, trying to take in every moment with you. Knowing the next day I would have to say goodbye. The tears fall now, just as they did then. A part of my heart will always ache from that goodbye. It hurts so much to have the bond weakened. But it will never be broken. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. You were, and always will be, my heart dog. I'll never forget you. I miss you :(

I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you this weekend and especially tonight. I know what Duke meant to you and I know how much you meant to him, I have never seen a bond like the two of you had. My heart and my thoughts are with you, give Dasher hugs and let him comfort you, I think you will see it helps some. Lots of hugs and prayers for you.

Just a little note to say I'm missing you :( While editing a pic of Dasher and Doogie, tears came from nowhere. I thank you so much for sending me Dasher. After a year, we're finally really settling in. He's such a sweetheart. Do me a favor and tell the angels I need him here on earth for years to come, ok? I hope you get snow for Christmas. I'd love to see you playing in it. I'll love you always.

I dreamed of you last night. We were in a big warehouse type place and it was so bright. I was throwing a yellow frisbee for you. You didn't know how to play with them before we said goodbye. It felt so good to see you flying by me with that frisbee in your mouth, having so much fun. The ending was kind of strange but I guess that was your way of saying you couldn't follow me. It was just good to see you happy and to sort of be with you again.

Hey Duke, Your Mom posted a picture of you today, it was so nice to see you but sort of made me teary eyed, I guess I relate to the way your Mom feels about you, that is how I feel about my Casey. Send you Mom some good wishes and let her know your okay, its tough on her, okay?

I just dreamed of you. I was in a big field. It was cloudy, like it might be getting ready to rain but the sun was shining. For some reason, I decided to call out to you. Within just a few seconds, you came flying out of nowhere and was by my side. You looked so happy. I told mom you must always be there just waiting to hear your name. I was hugging you when I woke up. Major tears. Dream or whatever it was, it was nice to know you're so close to me. I miss you :(

I wasn't going to write in here until November but Chasing Cars came on the radio and it reminded me of you. I had to turn it off. It still makes me cry. It reminds me of our last night together. Me on the floor with you, listening to you cough while trying to sleep. Now I'm crying like I just lost you. I had to play Everything I Own, my song to you. :( Strange how the pain can be made so fresh. I hate fate or whatever for taking away my most precious love. I hate how, as time passes,our bond grows weaker and weaker. A part of my :love: will always be broken from your loss. I tell everyone else we'll all see each other again, but for me, it seems like eternity before that happens.

I wasn't a member of PT yet when Duke passed on but through the past 2 years, I feel like I've gotten to know him. What an awesome dog and the love you have for him is sooooooo obvious. I hope he is enjoying a good frolick through Rainbow Bridge...my RB Stryker and Sydney tell me it is a wonderful paradise :love:

Val, I was sorting thru some cards on my desk the other day, when
a small packet of pictures fell out on the desk. Who should it be but Duke's
smiling face looking out at me. It was a picture sent with "Christmas 2003"
written on the back of the picture.:) Duke was such a handsome fella.:)

I haven't written to you in a long time. I was looking at one of my favorite pics of you and teared up. You seem so far away now :( I don't think we ever get over this.
