What a tremendously trying time for you. I'm so glad things are finally clearing up. I can't imagine all the stress of that. Be sure to take care of yourself too!
WOO HOO!!
Everybody is better!!!
THANK GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!
This sounds really terrible, but when you posted the first post I barely made it through and I didn't want to read it anymore. :( I was afraid to hear what was happening to poor Nakita. Today I finally read through the posts. Even though I'm a little late I am sending my prayers and I am so glad the little girl is getting better. :)
One question though, Shelly hasn't officially adopted Nakita yet? I wasn't sure if I understood you correctly. If so, that is the best thing I have heard in a long time! Spending all that time, heart ach, and not to mention money on a pup that "technically" isn't yours. WOW! I wish more people were like that in the world.
Yup, she technically isn't supposed to have her yet, but I knew she was a wonderful woman so we sorta cheated a little so Nakita could be with the family for Christmas. We will do the official paperwork at the shelter sometime next week. Shelly had Nakita for 36 hours before she had to rush her to the emergency room where she spent 4 days and 4 nights, had 2 surgeries, 2 plasma transfusions, countless medication and constant IVs. Can you IMAGINE those vet bills? Plus she has been to the normal vet 5 times since Shelly got her. I feel terrible that Shelly had to pay for all that. I don't know how to pay her back. If things had happened any other way and Nakita didn't have Shelly and her family, then Nakita would most likely have died :( But everything worked out, thank God.Quote:

Oh Aly, I can't believe I missed this! What a terrifying ordeal for sweet Nakita!! I'm so glad she's doing better. What a wonderful family she ended up with! (think you could convince them to join PT? ;) )
I'm so happy to hear that Nakita is doing better :)
Bump
Glad Nakita is better!!
What do the vet's think Nakita had to make her so sick???
They don't really have any clue what was wrong. The sickness was identical to parvo. But it can't be parvo or else at least one of my other puppies would have caught it since its so contagious (after Nakita was declared mange-free, I let them stay gated in the kitchen together). But I guess it is possible that it could be parvo and my other pups didn't catch it though because I have seen a litter of 8 pups at the shelter and all but 2 had parvo.
Its a huge mystery, but I am so grateful that it turned out good. It was really rough getting through it. Nakita is one of the strongest puppies I've ever seen, pulling through all that she has. I know a major factor were the visits she received because she just thrives so much on human touch. Also the prayers saved her so thank you all :)
A Christmas miracle!! Woohoo! :D
Yeah Nakita and Aly!!!!!!
So Glad you are feeling better!!!!!
Hugs and Treats!!!
