I voted for Clay until my fingers fell off. Alas, it wasn't to be. But, I think we'll be seeing a great deal from both these incredibly talented guys.
But, Clay was my favorite. IMO, his voice was far and away the better instrument. He worked his register in ways Ruben just simply could not do. But, Ruben has a nice soulful resonance.
And, by the end, I was one of the women finding Clay quite the attractive fellow! I'm on the Clay train, I suppose.
Another thing I enjoyed about Clay was his showmanship. Every move was a part of the package. He never let us down when it came to identifying with the music, lyrics and performance. I don't feel Ruben was able to pull off the kind of stage presence Clay did.
But, I think they are both winners and very talented. I see no reason to say ugly things about anyone on an internet message board. Ridiculing people over your own opinion of their looks or skill is better left to the judges.
Today, I was actually dorky enough to preorder his single from Amazon. (Which, by the way, is reportedly out preselling Ruben's 2-1 at the present time).
Well, my friends and I were talking about it and I don't even see what the difference between the two are. They both have record deals now and you'll be seeing things form both of them. Ruben doesn't really have the American Idol title. When you think American Idol, don't you usually think of Kelly? Just a thought. I'm still happy with the results :D
Ok well i stayed away from this thread, until this morning incase the winner was revealed before i got to c the show, but u are all so good and did not reveal it.
Well congratulations to the American public for voting for Rueben, and choosing him because he can sing not what he looks like, i never imagined an idol to look like Rueben, he has a real sweet face, though and innocence about him. I am thrilled for him, I am disappointed for Clay, but i would have been sadder for Rueben if he had lost, dont know why just would have been
Soledad you are way to harsh with regards to Clay, just look how he handled being the loser, he was wonderful, that shows he has depth to his character not at all like you think he is, at least give him that, even if you dont like him.
And as for Simon, well folks, i dont think he is gay at all, and we all know it was just a sitcom for the t.v, i read they actually cant stand each other, i can c why too, Paula sucks big time, she is so dramatic and in to herself. I LOVE ME. AND ARENT I JUST GORGEOUS AND SEXY hmmm .
Well gay or not he has has a girlfriend, did you not c her introduced on the show, mind u that means nothing these days.
Anyhow i think Simon is COOL.
Well i have had my say folks, and i am big enough to admit i was WRONG, however it was a tight vote, just a pity i could not have voted and all my Kiwi pals, we would have made sure CLAY won. cheers:D

I agree completely!
Clay's surely no Ben Affleck, but he is a *bit* of a looker. I love his eyes. He was so supportive of Ruben, and when he won, he was so kind to him, and showed not the least bit of a 'sore loser'. He put lots of motivation in his songs, and definetly held up the statement 'don't judge a book by it's cover.'
I don't think Simon's gay either. My mom told me he had a fiancee. I think Simon's cool too. Paula is too ...weird. I agree with carole, she is way too into herself.
Anyway, they both deserved to win. I would be lucky to actually be on the show, let alone win the American Idol. They both put lots of work and talent into it. :)
WELL SAID:) :D
People ARE allowed to have their opinions.
NO-ONE ever said they werent ALLOWED to have their opinions, thats what this site is all about, and we are just voicing ours as you are too, its called FREEDOM OF SPEECH, so go for it.
NO Sh*t!
There is absolutely NO NEED for you to be so RUDE, u made a point , so did i, lets leave it at that.
I wasn't being rude but yeah ok whatever
