GOOD IDEA! I am an ordained minister/chaplain - would love to see prayer requests here - will pray for all of you.
It's been awhile since I've been on the site and in particular since I've visited this thread. I feel selfish that I am here to request prayers and advice from you all, my PT family when I haven't been very good at supporting you all myself.
The last few years have been hard on my family because of various bad events and now, we have been stricken with another hard hit.
My uncle had a major stroke on March 17th and he has been in the hospital since. His only progress has been to move his eyes. He has locked in syndrome. It's when you are aware of what is going on around you but cannot move your body. He's on a ventilator and feeding tube and has had a low grade fever since the stroke happened. We've been praying hard in the family and in the last week or so he's been breathing on his own, very laborously, for a few hours at a time so I guess that is progress. I am asking you to pray for him and my aunt who is so devistated. What is worse is that they have no insurance and she doesn't know where to turn for help. Does anyone know of an association or center that can help her financially? They are in Brooklyn, NY. She is sure she is going to lose her job too because she needs to be at the hospital to talk to the drs. to make decisions about his care etc.. and has been taking a lot of time off. More than my prayers I don't know what to offer so I am asking for your prayers as well. Thank you.
I am so sorry to read this, and your family will be in my prayers. A stroke is a terrible thing to experience. My brother had a massive stroke at 59, and passed away from complications of it after 5 years. After the stroke, he was never able to work another day in his life. He and his wife had just relocated to a new area, and he wasn't long on his new job when stricken, and his wife had just started her new job a few days before. They had no medical insurance that would cover the enormous expenses incurred, but they did get some sort of government assistance. Of course my brother qualified for disability, and I believe that his wife also got some sort of assistance, since she quit work to care for him at home. They lived in FL, so there might have been programs offered there that aren't available in NY - I can't say for certain. I'd advise your aunt to haunt every agency she can possibly think of, and leave no stone unturned. Sorry I can't be of more help than that.
Again - my prayers to all of your family, but especially your aunt and uncle at this very difficult time.
I am asking for some prayers. I have been having some health issues lately. One is an attempt in getting pregnant and the other is a spot by my ear that has been bothering me lately. I have an appointment with the dermatologist at the end of April and am so terrified it will come out bad. These two issues has almost sucked dry my HSA and still have a couple thousand dollars before my deductible kicks in. Pray that these issues are worked out and that the money is provided to pay for all these doctor visits.
I have a friend from work who miscarried back in Feb. She recently found out she was 6 weeks pregnant with twins. My boss called me today to tell me she is bleeding and has to be off today. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers that everything is ok. thanks!
I think we should all take a moment to remember those that have lost their lives in the recent storms across the country. Today in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, there were at least 25 people that lost their lives, and today in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a person was also killed because they didn't make it to safety in time. Sending prayers that no more damage or death will occur and that their families will be safe and thought of in their time of loss.
Asking for prayers for my BFF Irene. She is just 45; peripheral artery disease and type 2 diabetes run in her family; she has both and has had two heart attacks while in her early 40s (one she didn't even know she had).
She knows she has to quit smoking and has had success and then gone back. A recent ultrasound showed that the vein on the right side of her neck (maybe artery?) is 70% narrowed. This will mean surgery; she is at high risk for stroke; she is really scared because this is what killed her mom.
She is throwing her cigarettes away on Saturday. Please sent prayers that she stays clean this time. She says it is all that she can do, and she thinks it is too late - but she is doing it.
Thanks.
I have a co-worker who is having surgery for cancer today.
I would like to ask that everyone put Ratatat in their prayers. I love my rat and I don't want to see her go. I am trying to raise $900 dollars for her surgery using this site http://www.indiegogo.com/Surgery-for-my-pet-Ratatat (there is a picture of her on there) and if i don't reach my goal I'm donating all of the money I do receive to the Best Friends Animal Society. If you have some money to spare and would like to contribute please do but if you don't a prayer would be more than enough.
thank you all and god bless,
Joshua
My co-worker who had the cancer surgery is recovering slowly. We had a nice note from her last week.
My sister-in-law's father has developed dementia. His dementia has changed and at times he now has periods of agitation. I'm sure it is scary for her to see him confused and agitated. My dad was confused for two days when he was in the hospital after his heart surgery and that was very scary.
My mom was admitted to hospital last night after an afternoon of frequent vomiting and horrible cramps (no diarrhea). I drove to her place about 9:30 and had keys to get right into her apartment. At her age, dehydration is a big scare, so we drove down to Emerg and she got a bed in that department about an hour and a half later.
They put some Zofran in her IV for the nausea, and a light dose of morphine for the pain a little later. It was great to see her colour come back and that she was relaxed and comfortable.
Two sets of x-rays, blood work, and she was off for a CT Scan when I called this morning. The obstruction is a slight regrowth of adhesions that she had clipped about 20 years ago. The docs are going to use surgery as a last resort, and she'll be in for 2 or 3 days as they get her settled and fixed up.
She still was able to joke a bit - not lacking a sense of humour.;)
Prayers are appreciated - she's the only fambly I got!:love::love:
I'm glad your mom is doing better, Candace. Keep the faythe.
Catty, I have lighted a candle for your Mom.............I pray she will be alright. It must have frightened you badly.
Thanks, Mary and Gini...I don't know how frightened I was...but she IS 78 albeit in good health. Yoga, power walks, etc - doesn't smoke and drinks very little - her Parkinson's meds have done wonders.
Yet she IS 78 - and she looked so frail, her voice hoarse from all the vomiting. I was close to crying a couple of times, but wanted to be there totally for her. I didn't leave til she felt ok and a plan of action had been determined.
Oddly, at one point she said, "Thank God we don't have to pay for any of this." The $13.00 for hospital parking was nothing.
Got to sleep at 3 am. Mom is totally worth getting tired over. And more.
Great thread.
Prayer for all and sundry.
This morning it was decided for Mom to have surgery - I got a phone message from a nurse asking if I could there there ASAP so Mom and I could meet before her surgery.
I got there about noon. She was taken to the OR at 1:40 - I was allowed to be in the pre-op area. By 4:30 pm she was in recovery; don't know how long she was there.
I waited til she was in her room at about 20 to 6. Apparently everything went well, no complications. I'll find out more tomorrow.
Came home finally and was locked out of my apartment. Long story, but all resolved now.
Prayers for my mom would be great.
Also, with work and mom and other life stuff, I am pretty stretched at the seams. I've had a few crying jags and will likely have a few more. But Mom will be ok, that's the important thing.
When the surgeon introduced himself to her this morning and explained what was going to happen she said, "I hope you had a good night's sleep." He wasn't quite sure what to make of that remark....;)
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Prayers to all who need them.
Great news for your co-worker! Yaay!
She's been extremely tired after work every day and she starts her chemotherapy soon. But she looked really, really good when I saw her.
I got an e-mail that my friend Mary has had another recurrence of the brain tumor. That is bad news.
And I'm praying that the hurricane will make a hard right, go out to the ocean and quietly fade away.
Many prayers and good wishes for all those in the path of Hurricane Irene. Take care, and may you all stay safe.
God bless.
I am not gonna go into details right now but i need some prayers i feel like my whole world is about to fall apart (nothing to do with my furkids) i am about to lose it and i feel like giving up and ahh never mind
hugs to you, HoochsMommiee ! remember you have many friends here.
Love and prayers to everyone in the storm's path too.
My co-worker is having surgery tomorrow morning. Could you all please keep her in your prayers. She is a remarkable woman. She's almost 77 years old (in November) and has raised 7 kids almost completely on her own after she was widowed. I am not very close to many of my co-workers, but I adore Miss Jane.
Please send out a good prayer for Miss Jane for her cardiac ablation to go well. They say she will be back at work Monday. I pray it will be so.
Will do!
Consider it done.
Also please keep my brother in law in your prayers. He just bought a triumph motorcycle and someone pulled out in front of him, he has been in the trauma unit for 12 days. He missed the birth of his grand nieces(My grandaughters). He has 11 broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade, a broken collar bone and a collapsed lung. He developed pneumonia and staph in the hospital. He will have surgery soon on the shoulder blade.
My granddaughters are also in the nicu but doing well, they put them in the same crib to cohabitate last night, its adorable.
caseysmom - Many prayers that your brother-in-law makes a complete recovery and feels better soon!
Welcome to the little great-nieces, and I hope they thrive and bloom!:love:
Prayers to all that need them.
Prayers and candles being lighted for all who need them. Too much sadness and loss lately.
caseysmom - how is your brother-in-law doing?
My grandson's other grandmother has been battling cancer for several years now. It started as breast cancer, and then spread thru out her body, and mainly to her brain. I last saw her in June, and in spite of what she was facing, was in good spirits. A couple of weeks ago she was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, but she beat that. The family has been waiting for space in a nursing home since she now requires round the clock care which she cannot get at home. Unfortunately she has just taken another turn for the worse, and the end is very near. Please - remember her in your prayers and pray that the end is calm and peaceful for her. She is only in her 50's. My grandson does not yet know of this turn of events. Please remember him in your prayers too.
He is in surgery right now to fix his shoulder, after that he should have a few days in the hospital and hopefully get to come home, he is in his third different hospital. My sister hasn't even been able to see my grandkids yet. She was going to try today but its hard to coordinate with their care time.
Prayers for your grandson, pom - how young the other grandmother is! But it sounds like she was feisty and happy.
Prayers for both of you.:love::love:
caseysmom, glad to hear your BIL may be able to have a few days at home! I hope the grandkids are ok.
I am so sorry for your loss and the loss for your grandson too. Pray that she is now at peace and resting away from her illness.
Many prayers needed for the people in central Pennsylvania affected by the flood. No direct flooding at my house but friends and families have had basements ruined and to the East of my area in Wilkes Barre the devastation has been unbelievable.
