Can't wait for pics!
Oh Liz, your such a softie:) Have a name picked out yet;)
Liz, I do believe you are a softie!! But you are also a blessing for yet another! Keep us posted!!! And yes, we're going to patiently wait for your pictures!!!! :D
I brought the grey female home today. She's doing fine &
goes back to get stitches out in two weeks. I want to keep
her inside till then at least. I'll take in day by day & see how
everything works out. The "boys" being around her cage don't
seem to faze her at all & she loves her little cat bed.:)
Joey however is a different story. He & all the other boys were
in the family room after dinner & I was entertaining them all
with different cat toys. All went well for about 30 minutes, then
out of the blue Joey went up to Redbud (sitting on top of the
couch) & showed the most aggressive stance I've ever seen
from him. Ears flat, eyes slanted & focused on Red & looked
like he was going to pounce. He did. Just that quick. Red
let out a loud meow & took off & Joey followed him to the next
room. Red found a hiding spot somewhere & Joey was just
running around like a nut. I lured him back to me with a treat
and put him back in his cage. I can't have this behavior from
Joey.:( Redbud & Mikey were born to a feral mom but never
grew up outside. They are total innocents when it comes to
fighting, etc. I'm sure Red never expected the attack even tho
I saw all the signs of it about to happen. Lord give me patience.
Joey might be relegated to Momma Kitty's garage. If she'll have
him.
It's no problem at all. What's 1 more? ;)Quote:
I think I'm in trouble here.
Jen,
Did you read what I posted about Joey attacking Redbud? I
don't mean the playful pounce & wrestle session of playful cats,
I mean a "serious" "I'm going to kill you" attack. My inside boys
don't do that, never have. If Red, Mikey, or Punkin ever get too
carried away with a play session, one cat will break it off & refuse
to play the game anymore. No harm, no foul & they're still friends
afterwards. Don't all cats play like this? I admit, I don't know that
much about cat behavior & only have experience with my four.
I do know that outside cats tend to play "for keeps" more often.
What I'm saying is "is it the exception to have four male cats that
get along well all the time" & do you think it's unrealistic to think
that Joey will ever un-learn the fight to live attitude he's had to
have from growing up outside. He was pretty well beat up when
I found him, something my four have never had to experience.
I truly need to have a peaceful house. Any advise would be much
appreciated. Thanks. Liz.
Really wanted to update a little on the kitties. Katie (grey cat)
has had a remarkable calming effect on the "boys". I think she's
going to be a big help in reducing the stress levels around here.
Can't post any more right now as I have an all day class today.
I'll try to check in at lunch. Have a great day everyone.:D
So much has happened since I last posted on Joey. He's
doing great. Saturday was the first day that Joey spent with
all four other kitties & all was well. Well, only one spat with
Punkin and that was settled quickly between them. No hard
feelings on either side.:D I stayed with them all or within
earshot of them most of the day and all when pretty well.
Sunday was even better. Joey is such a sweet little guy, I just
knew he'd blend in if my other kitties would calm down & be
themselves with him. Katie(grey LH kitty) was deemed very
adoptable by the local Humane Society & I turned her over to
them last week along with all her medical records. She's such
a sweetheart & I hope by now she's found her perfect home.
I just didn't have the space for both & felt that Joey with his
"funny" eye would stand the least chance of being adopted.
It feels so good to finally see the" light at the end of the
tunnel". Bringing in another kitty can be very emotionally
draining. A good thing, but it's getting harder to find the time
and energy to do much more of it.I'll have some pics of all the
kitties by this Weds. I'll post some then. :)
I'm so glad to hear that Joey is doing well and that he's also getting along with his new siblings. :) I'm sorry to hear that you had to give Katie to the Humane Society. Hopefully she'll find another loving forever home soon. Thanks for the update and I'm looking forward to seeing some new pics of Joey. :)
Here's Katie..... She's a perfect sweetie.:)

It is sad that I can't keep everyone I come across.:( but, I
don't have the space or the money to responsibily care for more
than the, now seven, cats and one dog that I have. I've always
hoped that I could adopt an older dog someday too. There are
just so many deserving animals needing homes.
Sorry, I'll have to post the others later. Imagestation is sooooo
slow right now.
p.s. Please excuse the messy room. The maid's had the last two
weeks off.
Liz, I think knowing your limits is most important! Looking at my crew of 8, I'm not sure I know my own!!! :o I'm sure Katie will be just fine. And what good news to read that Joey is adapting to his new home!!! :)
Thanks Logan. I thought you would understand.:) Believe
me, I finally understand that I will not be able to save or keep
all of them no matter how much I wish I could.:(
Here's a pic of Joey(on couch) & Blackie(looking up).
