Well, I hope she pops soon!
Kittens! We want kittens!
Can't wait to see the little ones!
It would be nice to see photos of these lucky kittens. If they only knew what the alternative may have been. Being born outside, exposed to the elements must be very stressful for all involved. Now they will have the comfort of a home and an attendant none the less. Wow, such a difference.
I surely hope the births go smoothly and little Mom has an easy time of it. I wish that eye thing would clear up. I am not sure why the meds haven't cleared up the ulcer. Is that normal for it to take this long? Is it getting better? I wonder if a different med might do the trick? Oh well, she's not MY cat, so why am I worrying.
Hey, if you need some help with the vet bills, please say so. I am sure a few of us would chip in. Just PM us, me. OK?
Keep us posted.
Off to take my pupster to the doggie day care. She just loves the place.
No kittens. Starting to threaten her - have your babies soon or I'll get the plunger out! :p It's been like 20 days since that other vet said it'd be soon. I mean, she HAS to have them any day now since she was so obviously pregnant when we found her.
sasvermont - Her eye has actually been getting much better. There is very little watering and she holds it open all the time now. The ulcer is just still there, but it does not appear to cause her much pain any more. I don't know how long it takes for it to go away completely but I'd guess it would take longer for it to heal since her body is preoccupied with taking care of the kittens. I'm sure the stress on her system is kind of exacerbating it a little as well but I do see it healing.
Hope your pup has/had fun at daycare!
THANK YOU to sasvermont and cassiesmom for the offer of help with vet bills! I think we should be just fine for now. We are FAR from wealthy but we make due with what we've got. And CareCredit sure helps a ton!
Aren't my parents just awesome for putting up with me? My dad didn't even like cats when my mom met him. :D
No gatitos.
I think it's actually been good for us to have this bonding time. She's especially bonded to me now. When I give her chin scritches she really leans in, purrs, kneads and likes to nibble on my hand. She is too cute. :)
There needs to be a pulling hair out smiley. LOL. No kittens.
Yesterday I was in there cleaning out her litterbox. I stopped to give her scritches and she started to "groom" my hand! She is really sensitive about having any other area touched right now but she just loves having her chin scritched. :)
Ok - I think she might be close. She only ate a little of the wet food and really wants to get out of the room. She wanted to get into the cupboard so I set it up for her in case she wanted an alternative to the kennel, as the cupboard is more private. Could be another false alarm but I'm not sure.
Here she is in all her pregnant glory

Boy she is DEFINITELY pregnant. No way around that. I am a nervous wreck just checking in on this thread. I can't imagine what you are going through.
I just hope for a safe delivery and that all of them are healthy and you can find homes for them. :)
I hope that you're right and that when the time comes that everything will go smoothly.:) I'm sure you already this but here's a link that tells more about pregnancy in cats: http://www.best-cat-tips.com/cat_pregnancy.htm.
She looks as though she is going to explode! Wow. We should start a lottery. I think she's going to have them tomorrow.
Good luck. We are all like little worry warts here. I don't know if I could be so calm as you seem to be. I would be a mess.
Hugs to you for taking her in and caring for her. You are a sweetheart, for sure.
Sas
That she is.
The delayed birth giving her bonding time is good. Been an auntie for kits and pups and the mom changes personality when the babes are born. It's better if the mom knows you.
And sometimes the mom wants human help. I had to spend the night at my mom's when Molly had her second litter of pups because Molly wanted me to stay beside her the whole night. Crate Furniture Love Seats are NOT comfortable.
Anyway, make sure any small holes are covered so she can't hide them. That has been known to happen with felines.
And bless you for caring for her.
@Taz_Zoee - you should see her in RL. She looks like she swallowed a cantaloupe.
@krazyboutkatz - thank for for that link, I hadn't seen it yet :) I'll add it to my "pregnant cat" folder.
@sasvermont - too bad I'm broke or I'd seriously do that. Ok - I will put *username here* WAS RIGHT! in my signature to whoever guesses the closest date/hour. Deal? ;)
And me, calm? Gee, I must come across totally different over the internet than I do in real life! I'm very worried about how things will go, but I have educated myself on what is and isn't normal and will do all I can to make sure everything goes alright.
@mrspunkysmom - yes, totally agree. I will respect her wishes if she doesn't want me to observe, but I'm hoping she'll be comfortable with me keeping an eye on her from afar, so I can make sure there aren't any difficulties.
I have had two kittens living in the bathroom before and they pretty much revealed the "weaknesses" in there. Cats can always outsmart you, but I'm pretty sure I covered my bases when I kitten proofed it. Thanks for the reminder :)
and THANK YOU to everyone! You guys are all too sweet.
