Thanks, everyone. THey've been popping up like mad lately.
How do you know if it's legitimate or a BYB?? Are all the listed pets for sale or are some given to good homes? I have never "done" a Craigs List thing... forgive my ignorance :o
For the most part, legit breeders don't post on CL.
If someone is looking for a stud for their ACA registered XYZ, it's probably a BYB.
"accidental " litters of purebreds? Most likely BYB.
If you read a bunch of them, you get a feel for the legit rehomings and a BYB or pet flipper (yes, people do take "free to a good home" pets and then sell them)
That's disgusting :( They should... oh nevermind, my thoughts on people that do such things for the almighty buck would even be barred from the "Doghouse". :(

$350 "rehoming" fee?

and a $1200 "rehoming" fee.

Hmm, maybe they now remove them with one flag? That one is also "Flagged for removal" - thankfully!
it's whackamole, but with an animal breeder.
I don't see why you would flag this. All I see is someone trying to sell a macaw. Probably bought it and didn't realize how much work they are. It's not like it's some BYB selling litter after litter of pups. And $1200 isn't at all unreasonable, as these exotic birds are quite expensive, and the seller also advised a prospective buyer to do their homework first, too. I must have missed something.......
The fact that this same "bird" has been being advertised on CL for a year now?
Also, if the "rehomer" really wants to get the bird a good home, there's a bird sanctuary about 5 miles away who deals with exotic birds.
Thelma's back....eventually CL will IP ban her when they get tired of deleting the ads.

From CL TOS:
Partial list of items for sale and services the advertisement of which is not permitted on craigslist:
Household pets of any kind including but not limited to dogs, cats, primates, cage birds, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, fish. Re-homing with small adoption fee OK
1) $1200 isn't a "small" adoption fee.
2) Pet sales are prohibited. Doesn't matter whether you're doing it once (which the person with the Macaw isn't) or 50 times, it's not permitted on their site.
The only way to remove the ads from CL is to flag them and have CL take them down. No flags? The ads stay.
