Then there are the millions of undocumented people here. They will have to get free health care because it would be cruel and inhuman not to.

Thanks LH... You beat me to it.
Keep swinging at air Liz. LOL
Hooray for free speech?
http://www.canada.com/Coulter+event+...231/story.html
I am not in any way a fan of Ann Coulter. Her border line satire crosses the line too often. IMO. But this is quite something, no? I thought Canukians were a tolerant people?
Perhaps Canadians draw the line at hate mongers -
Quote:
“I hereby encourage you to educate yourself, if need be, as to what is acceptable in Canada and to do so before your planned visit here,” University of Ottawa academic vice-president François Houle wrote.
“Promoting hatred against any identifiable group would not only be considered inappropriate, but could in fact lead to criminal charges.”
I read some of that story, and still did not understand what the VP's office was so upset about. What group is Ann Coulter supposedly attacking? I admit I know nothing about her.
The first amendment was directly intended to protect people like Ann Coulter. She makes political statements, frequently controversial political statements. I have an intense dislike for people on either side of the spectrum who push the envelope on free speech, however, they have a right to speak.
Unlike some, if I don't like what someone is saying on the air, I simply change the channel or turn off whatever medium is being used to disperse the speech, or, in the case of the local paper, cancel my subscription.
They have a right to speak.........however it isn't mandatory that anyone listen.
If the students in Canada wanted to protest Ms. Coulter's appearance, they should have just not gone to the speech. Empty rooms don't get much coverage.
Want to see something really telling and frankly disappointing on how much people follow politics and at what level they pay attention to it?
Here are the most popular (as in most viewed) "news" items on CNN's web site:
Biden's f-bomb
Teen has weight loss surgery
TARP watchdog slams Obama foreclosure program
Health reform's legal fight
VP Biden curses, and it's the leading story on CNN by 10 to 1, looking at their chart.
The bottom two stories have less than 1/10th of the hits that the fluff piece about VP Biden's verbal slip do.
The most influential piece of legislation in 50 years, and hardly anyone is paying attention.
A huge waste of public money (TARP) slammed by the committee given oversight of the program, and hardly anyone is paying attention.
I betcha people could give me the complete description of Jesse James' girl toy, though.
The girl with the swastika on her belly? The Illustrated Woman?
:eek::rolleyes::(
---------
The two things that should have been addressed RIGHT OFF THE TOP is tort reform and a price freeze on meds and implants/supplies.
No one seems to remember the 10 dollar aspirin?
--------
someone made a comment about a fricking nicotine junkie trying to shove a health care plan down our craws.
It's like Jesse James or Tiger doing a Learning Annex class on marriage.
Looks good on paper!

bBiden's f-bomb.
Some cutesy email/blogger/db came out and said that JBs use of the word was far better than GWB's faux pas....
moron.
Interesting article I read today. Seems that there is a name for the
crazy reaction to Obama's efforts to fulfill his campaign promise to America.

I do want to know about the sudden shift in the idea that the government should stay out of our lives.
People were a fracking paranoid about BIG government, yet they invite them into the HC arena and that will give them even more access to our medical records?
That makes me laugh, so why not just merge the Patriot act with health care reform? Or, did we forget about the intrusion just for the sake of the current regime?

I am starting to think that BO is being punked my the white people that are supposedly there to advise him?
Rahm Emanuel is a punk and a bully.
I can hardly wait until he tosses out a wet one.;)
So.....
Bush derangement syndrome is a crock, But the first mentions of the same thing associated with the new Pres. is reality?
No link to the poll mentioned, and all in all reads like a sales pitch for the authors new book.....which is mentioned in the beginning of the article rather prominently.
It's pure drivel.
By the way, before you say I'm just panning it because it is pretty much an anti-conservative hit piece (which it is), I enjoy well written political commentary from either side.
This ain't it.
BOMBSHELL MCGEE!:confused::D:o
LOL, My Nickname was CenterFire Sanchez.:D

I love the responses dealing with why women politicians don't cheat :)

Power women breakfast

How do female politicians differ from their male counterparts? They (typically) don’t cheat.
So said the women — senators all — who gathered Wednesday for a breakfast panel discussion hosted by the U.S. Capitol Historical Society.
“You just don’t have the time,” laughed Kay Bailey Hutchison. “With all the multitasking [women] do, who could plan that whole scheme? Getting a flight to South America?” she asked.
Kirsten Gillibrand concurred: “While I’m at home changing diapers, I just couldn’t conceive of it.”
The panel discussion — which also included Dianne Feinstein and Susan Collins — took place in the Kennedy Caucus Room and was moderated by Cokie Roberts, who called the 17 women serving as U.S. senators “the last bastion of nonpartisanship in the Senate.”
The ways in which female politicians support one another — across party lines — was much discussed. But sisterly bipartisanship extends only so far — and not as far as Sarah Palin, it seems.
Said Feinstein of Palin: “She was inexperienced, had a lack of knowledge and [had] a limited worldview.”
LOL,
Dianne Feinstein?
Cheating?
Her brother wants nothing to do with her, what does THAT say about her?
DF's better days were in the third quarter of the last century.....if that.

Fulfulling his promise to America? Or shoving his filthy agenda up our rear?:);)
Even he doesn't know what in the HCR.
Not unless he grew a brain and read the darn thing.
And 99.9 percent of the people in the country have not read it.
So, what does that saw about the 49.45 percent of the people who are in favor of it and don't have the faintest idea as to what it means to the country.
------------------
The HCR is akin to putting air into a tire that's gone flat.
No idea as to the cause of the leak.. It will fix itself.
Morons.
Great article Grace. Most men don't have a clue what women
are made of, or what they are capable of achieving in business and
in politics.:)
Sugar and spice and a world of hurt if you cross them .
Let's see, what kind of sexist thought can I post?
Male seahorses are all screwed up and the females are lazy..;)
How's this suit you? Get back in the kitchen where you belong, Liz, and leave the political talk to the ones who really know what they're discussing.
See? Two people can be sexist idiots, not just you, Liz!
Nope, only when dealing with people who get their panties in a bunch about sexism, but have no issue being sexist morons themselves.
The danger of wearing thongs, It's predisposed.;)

Do I think that men and women can ever know what each other are thinking.
Probably not, ask Sandra and Jesse.
The whole key to understanding each other is to take the time and try. My parents hooked it up for almost 50 years.
Either they tried, they gave up or the BSed each other for a long, long time.
I vote for all three?

Nancy Pelpsi's office was inundated with threats this past week.
Most of the calls threatened to drop a house on her.

Am I sexist for wanting her to share her foxhole with me?
That depends on how long you would want to share that foxhole with her.
If for instance, you shared about a minute with her in that foxhole, she would most probably label you as "Sexist".
If on the other hand, you shared say.....er....2 hours with her in that foxhole, she would probably emerge with a smile on her face and not tell anyone what happened.
So therefore, if no-one knew what happened....how could they label you as a sexist ???? ;)

I don't want a pony.....
But then again, we'll all have to clean up up the stable.
I had to laugh about my prez showing up in Afghanistan.
(Was he there to try and get the Afghani Health Care laws up to snuff?;))
After shoving more, 15, candidates down our craw-
Yes, every other president has done it, but 15 at a time? And, using the lame excuse that they are needed to keep the country running?
I truly think he believes he's helping out!
-he shows up in theater, trying to show that he's a cool cat and he's there for the troops. Way to deflect the criticism, dude!;)

I had a belly laugh over some CODE PINK moron who tired to arrest Karl Rove at a book signing of his.
One of the co founders tried to make a citizen's arrest. I guess her main complaint was about his lying to get the war in Iraw started.
Why don't they focus on the idiots that are in office and have more of an impact on what is going on now?
Makes you wonder how stupid people are.
----------------------
Why would my prez go an open up off-shore drilling to the oil companies?
Sounds like he's in bed with the energy companies.
Oops, that was our last President!
Sorry.;)
I'll introduce you, what happens after is your own beeswax!;)

I wanted to make a little observation about the Health Care issue and how it's being viewed by the Mexican media.
The stories about HCR have been viewed/reported has been reported as a mix of free health care and free insurance for the American masses.
Troubling because the numbers of illegal aliens has been dropping recently, Just like the American media, the Hispanic/Latin outlets really pick and choose the facts they want to report.
Some stations have made it sound like everyone will be covered no matter what their economic status is.
Bad news.....
