How are we doing on Full day 2???
Hugs & Treats!!!
Steve,
How are Doc,Buddy and Tasha getting Along??
Is everything Alright??
Give them ALL a Hug and a Treat for me,Please
Alright, day two is almost done. There is already a very noticeable improvement in Docker, he is gaining confidence daily! Him, Bud and Tash play outside quite a bit, but in the house they still growl at him a bit when he goes to them/sniffs them. He LOVES stuffed animals! I have been working with him on a leash and he still needs improvement but I can already notice a difference. I gave him a seperate food bowl but Buddy and Tasha have been eating that and he is eating from their bowl with no squirmishes so I guess I'll leave it at that for now. He is such a good-natured little guy! So, I guess, there is a long way to go, but in all honesty I didn't expect to see any results yet so I guess we are ahead of schedule. He digs this indoor-house dog routine!! He seems to just watch what Tasha does and follows her. I took treats out in the yard today and was working with him but including Bud and Tash, when I told them to sit he of course had no idea what I meant so he looked at Tasha, sat, and then gave me this really funny look, like: "If this ain't right, blame her!". He's just a typical pup in a lot of ways, EVERYTHING is interesting! So, yeah, so far, we are all really happy!
Thanks for the interest delidog, and pats all around!
Oh Thats' Great Steve...
These things take time!!!
This has been a Wonderful Story with a Very Happy ending for you all...Thanks for your dilligence in saving him!!!
And Remember....Anytime your 3 want to jump in front of a shooting Camera,We at Pet Talk would Love to see them!!!
Have you signed them up at www.dogster.com yet???
fun site...
You have 3 Beautiful Pups there!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!! Again!!
What great news that all is going well with Docker and Sasha and Buddy! Our Snoopy did the same thing Docker is doing - he watched Dazzi and he learned very quickly imitating her. Nice to know he is ahead of the schedule on his learning a whole new life!
What a great update!! Glad to hear things are going well :D
I am just thrilled to hear all the good news and see this boy in his new home. That doggy door will be a boon when it comes to housebreaking as will his being able to observe his new siblings. It is so sweet to hear how he loves being petted and playing with toys.
From everything you have said, I just have a feeling that things will work out just fine. When your other two give him a growl, they are just letting him know to back off a bit and obviously he is understanding their communication. It doesn't seem as if he will challenge them and with their being older and well trained, it doesn't seem if they would want to start any argument.
Does he seem to have any problems with separation anxiety? Have you left the house for a few minutes or longer to see how he will react?
Well, as in my earlier update, I am just amazed how quickly Docker is making progress! He is very affectionate and loves to be petted, I'm sure at some level he knows and appreciates that he is no longer sleeping in the bush. He is either very smart, or had a loving home at one time. He now sits for a treat about 60% of the time, so far without a treat forget it! He still runs to the doggy door when something spooks him (which is still pretty often) but now, more often than not, he runs to it and not out it, sticking around to see if it's a real threat or not. He is very curious and pads all over the house checking out everything, just like a normal, happy pup. He loves to be chased in the yard by Bud and Tash, and you can see the pleasure in his face when he finally works them up to the point that they chase him. The three of them are getting along better in the house by a little bit, they still growl sometimes but less and less often. Bud and Tash LOVE this training thing! I have worked with him a little on his own, but mostly with them; I say sit, they've done it a kazillion times for no treat, so they sit and get a treat just "cuz stupid don't know how to sit!". I took them for a two hour walk in the bush yesterday and let him off the leash for about twenty minutes with Bud and Tash and they had a great chase game. I'd call them back at random and give them all a treat and he never once gave me a scare, he stuck real close to Tasha. Last night he did the funniest thing: I was sitting on the couch watching tv with Bud and Tash when Docker came walzing in the room, Bud and Tash both looked at him like: "Aha, no room for you". Without a moments hesitation he hopped straight over them and onto the top of the back of the couch and laid down resting his head on my shoulder! I don't really want him up there of course but I found it too funny to give him hell, and he certainly scored points for "thinking outside the box"! Rachel: I purposely stayed home all weekend including thursday and friday that I took off (forgetting today is a holiday in Alberta! Yay, five day weekend!) to let him settle in, but I did go out with friends for about three hours last night and there were no problems at all, though one of my socks was in the living room when I came home. If that's the biggest problem, I can live with that!!
So anyway, things are still going far better than I ever imagined!!
What great news!!!
DAMN - would have loved a pic of him on the couch, and your 2 precious fur kids faces when he did it!!! :D
What an awesome update!! Things are going to be just fine!!!
Thanks for keeping us updated! Sounds like things are going extremely well. And how cute that he jumped up behind you AND laid his head on your shoulder. Must be feeling much more comfortable with you. I just think it is wonderul the way he is fitting into your home!!!

"ONE sock in the living room..."
What about the OTHER ONE!?????
Socks usually travel in PAIRS!
Is there a Sock-Napper afoot inna Howze?
:p
..
The infamous clothes dryer took the other sock and when anyone finds the Mysterious Black Hole out there in the Ozone I'm just sure it will be FULL of lost socks..........
Oh joy, oh joy! The progress report is even better than I expected and I have been quite optimistic. The time and attention you are devoting to get Docker off to a good start is paying off. A five day weekend turned out to be the perfect way to introduce the little fella to his new home. Maybe all the delays in getting him worked out for the best.
This has really been an uplifting thread. Reality TV can't hold a candle to Reality Doggie Rescue. And I might say that the leading man is quite a hunk. (Take note young, single female PTers.)
Awwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah Doc!!!
Yeah Steve!!!!!
Well Deserved Praise and Many Pats on Back!!!
Oh I've noticed..... ;) :DQuote:

Geeez, I never thought I'd blush on Pet Talk! :D But thanks for makin' me!
C&S: There is mounting evidence that there is a serial sock-napper in the house, however I am unable to make any public comment at this time due to the on-going investigation.
Keep Working on that Investigation!!;) :) :D
What a happy story! I'm so glad you were able to adopt him and that everyone seems to be adjusting so well. Congratulations and thank you for keeping everybody posted on the situation.
1st Week Anniversary,Today.....
Woo Hoo!!!
Hope all is going well!!
Hugs & treats for all the furkids!!
Thanks for noticing delidog!! Yep, we got one week under our belts and things are going great!! He's wormed his way into being a full-fledged family member!!
Well, since delidog reminded me (thanks again), I thought I'd post a few pics I took on Docker's one week anniversary. I really didn't get any good ones, but I thought I'd put 'em up anyway.
Still amazed at the bones to be found in the yard!

Tasha and Docker in what was formerly know as "the yard", now somewhat affectionatly refered to as "the toy/bone graveyard".

Doc is such a handsome boy and seems very happy with his new home!! Congrats again to all!!
kiss kiss kiss, huggies and slurpie face washies... what a wonderful crew in the Land of Schteve!
Is it possible for a dog to get any cuter than that?! And sooooo smart! You are so lucky to have had him find you the way he did!
You haven't mentioned how the housetraining is going and I'm just curious - I'll bet he's really good at that too.
What a cutie that Docker is! How nice that they are all getting along so well. Love that back yard of yours!
We have not had one single accident in the house!!! At least not that I've found!:DQuote:

I don't know if he just followed Bud and Tash, if someone trained him at one time, or what but whatever the reason, I'll take it!! He really does whatever Tasha does so that could be it, he follows her around non-stop (which kinda bugs her sometimes) but I'd rather he follow her than Bud (she's the more obedient!). I believe it's called "lifestyle assimilation"!:D

Excellent, excellent, excellent! I like that terminology *lifestyle assimilation*. I noticed the same thing when we adopted Tucker. That first day he seemed to meld into the routine as if he knew it. Now I know what to call it. :)
Your pictures are ever so good. Thanks for posting them. As you can tell, there are a number of us who have really been caught up in the wonderful account of your finding and making Docker part of your family. It has been an amazingly uplifting story and we really don't want it to end. (hint, hint).
And speaking of pictures, there is one that has mysteriously disappeared. I was just about to pm a few of our PT sweethearts to check it out, and it's no longer there. :(

I'm afraid I don't have any new pictures but I can tell you that Docker is definately a full-fledged member of the family. There has been no growling for about 4 days now. They are all eating out of the same bowl with no problems. Tasha and him play almost constantly on our walks (off-leash), whenever we go in the yard, and for the first time last night had a game in the house!!Quote:

AND, I was finally worthy last night; I got my first *BIG* Docker kiss!
Thanks guys, for the interest, and I will try to be a little better "pup-dater"!
And don't give up hope, Rachel! There must be a girl out there somewhere who loves the snow and cold and is interested in a bald, dog-loving dude who can't cook and puts the toilet seat down roughly 60% of the time!:D

The First Kiss!!!!!
Aww!!!!!!!:)
Is this the picture you were looking for Rachel?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...7Image0006.jpg
it is still there!!
Yes, Amy, as a matter of fact it is. Don't know why I couldn't find it the other day.
Steve, it isn't a matter of finding someone, it will be a matter of will they meet the criteria necessary to be acceptable to all the cyber moms who have adopted you. I just want to let it be known that I am the first in line on that list.
I couldn't be happier for how well things are going with Docker. Eating out of one bowl is simply amazing. I think you have the Midas touch with dogs, Steve.
Since I am guessing Steve and I are roughly in the same ange range, i won't add my name as a cyber mom...but how bout a sis?Quote:

Glad to hear things are going so well with Docker!! Isn't great when #3 just fits in like they have been there all along?
Sounds great to me. ;) :DQuote:

Well the snow and cold and bald, dog loving dude part anyways..... not sure about the toilet seat. ;)
Alright, for you I could certainly try and be better about the toilet seat, but what about the cooking? I'm not kiddin', me and Chef Boy-R-Dee are pretty tight these days!;) :D :DQuote:

No worries about the toilet seat man... I mean I'm not perfect either...I leave it down oh about 100% of the time. That would be a pain for you.... ;) LOLQuote:
