I just wanted thank all of you NAWTEEDAWGS for your contributions as to what's going on at your houses. You spill a lot more of the beans than your humans do and our *enquiring* minds do want to know. There's never been a stale tail on this board yet, and even though it falls to the most prolific of the tail-tellers to tell the tails, I'd be willing to bet there are a cast of thousands reading and living vicariously with all you little rug rats and bed hogs. Hannah says to say she'll bark at you later.

Hi there all of you other nawtee dawgs! Bella here! I just hadda write and tell you all what happened the other night. My Mommy Human had to go out and left my Daddy Human babysittin' me. She gave him lotsa instructions about how to care for me and all and gave me a kiss and went out. Well, my Daddy Human put up the gate across the kitchen so I couldn't get inna living room (he still worries that I'll make a puddle or chew somethin') but I had the run of the kitchen and the family room. Well after a bit, Daddy Human starts noddin' off onna sofa. It was so boring with him sleeping so I started to look around to see if I could sorta amuse myself til Mommy Human got home. He was yawning when she was gettin' ready to leave, and I remembered she told him to put me in my crate if he was goin' to take a nap, but he said he didn't feel one comin' on. Guess it sorta crept up on him like my naps do to me. (I can be playing my heart out and then just sorta curl up and zonk out for a bit). Well, I'm gettin' off the subject here. I was just walkin' around the family room minding my own business and I spotted a clothespin on the top of a potato chip bag. I didn't know what it was so I had to put it in my mouth to sorta get the idea of it. Well, I pretty near ate half of it (I left the metal spring thing). My Mommy Human came home and went through the roof. She called the white coats # and then she had to call the emergency white coats because our regular white coat wasn't there. They said to watch my poops. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/redface.gif I was so embarrassed when I heard that. Can you imagine? They said if I had trouble going potty I could have a blockage or somethin' and just to keep an eye on me and probably everything would "come out" all right. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif As it turned out, I am just fine. It was so humiliatin' though for the next day or so having Mommy and Daddy Human watchin' my poops! They even took a flashlight out inna yard at night so they could watch them in the dark. I'm never eatin' another clothespin again. The whole thing makes me blush just rememberin' it! I don't think Daddy Human is gonna ever take a nap when he is babysittin' again either!

Hi Cinder, Smoke and all you puppy pals. This is Star here to update you on the Mr. B adventue at the house of the White Coats. Well, mom says the Klaw-Man is doing pretty A-OK. Doc Paul is a pretty kooool kat if I do say so myself. He always let my mom rammmmble on and on bout this and that an all her frets and such. He gave the B Man a good goin over and ex-ray and reports that the chest gots a little krunchie sounds in it, but nuthin much to fret bouts. Did a ultry-soundin thing a his heart and that was okkeeeedokeeee too. (The B-eester's gots a touch a congestion ina heart too) So, doc says a little shota the steeroidy stuff and all should be just fine. Winter's the worstest time for asthma in us furkids as we're all re-cirkilatin the same stale type air all day, special ina indoor kitties. A course the kid never koughed once inna office! Just like when mom takes the trakter fer fixin at the gas house of repair. Hi, it's me, Hannah. I don't think summer is ever coming to Illinoiz. More white stuff is falling right now. Now as you all know, I love winter and the snow but geeez, Louise here (MOM) can't seem to get her keister outside when it is cold out so Tucker and Me has really been looking forward to it warming up and more play time outside with Mom. We had a couple days last week and it was just like old times. Mom says I'm getting cranky from being cooped up so much. So whose fault is THAT! It kind of came to a head last night when she came over to me sitting on one of my chairs and started talking about how much she loves me and I went grrrrr to her. Trust me on this one, you do not go grrrrr to my Mom! But I was also not willing to admit I'd made a HUGE mistake, so I went grrrr'd some more. Next thing I was in the flipped position with her doing her "WHOSE THE BOSS OF YOU?" routine. I pretty much cut the crap and next thing we were kissing and hugging and smelling each other's breath again.

Dad and Mom went to see one of those gility trials you girls are always talking bout. Of course Tucker and I didn't get to go because we NEVER get to go anywheres, 'cept to the groomer and the Vet. Anyways Mom just loved watching that stuff. She said there were the labs and the goldens who done all the steps in the right order but they kind of plodded along - no speed demons. Then she said there was a Bassett Hound named (are you ready for this?) Daisy. Now you'd think a Bassett Hound would have some problem with gility, but she didn't, did everything just right, except in between doing the stuff she would stop and smell who had been there before her. When she was done smelling (which sometimes wasn't for a while) then she would go on to the next thing smell there and then do what she was s'posed to do. Mom thought this was so funny when she was telling me this. Sounded pretty reasonable to me! Then there was the Border Collies. Now the Border Collies' people had a hard time keeping up with the Border Collies and the Border Collies had their own way of doing the stuff which they figured out as an improvement to the way the people wanted them to do it. Then Mom really loved the two iddie biddie yorkies and a toy poodle who she said were like flying squirrels they went soooo fast. Both Mom and Dad pretty much figured out real quick that I would never be able to do gility. Seems that when the dogs get sidetracked and take a wrong turn, their people call them and then they COME. Now you girls all know that COME is a four-letter word in my book. So looks like I'll never see any gility classes, although I think I'd enjoy the part about getting the treats.

Guess it is bout time for my mid morning nap, so you NAWTEEDAWGS keep pounden away at the keyboards. My Mom loves to hear what you are up to and so do I.

Don't give up on the gility thing. Tonight I get to go again (ADVANCED Beginner!). It's at 8:30 and I'm a bit tired by then so I'm no speed demon when it comes to runnin', jumpin' and tunnellin'! Yeah, sometimes I don't COME when my human sis calls me 'cause I'm lookin' for MOM in the audience. I'm gettin' better though (it helps to have them waggin' a hot dog in my face!) It's still fun!

Daisy here. Another Basset named Daisy! Weird! I have a younger friend Basset named Daisy, actually. Mom's friend's not too 'riginal. And one time atta store, Mom talked with a lady who had a Basset named Daisy too. But I bet I'm the cutest one. I'd like to do 'gility but there aren't any places near us. Mom says maybe next fall when she will have her liscence and can drive me to the nearest place. Beleive it or not, I am pretty fast. Mom's lil' sister is real good at soccer but even she can't keep the ball away from me. Now that's what they should have, dog soccer. I am GOOD at that! And I wish there was a sport involving sleeping. I am pretty good at that too. Sorry I haven't written in a while but I was sick! I had what you guys were callin' the 'gurks and the yurks' and I was pyookin'. I pyooked in Mom's bed one time while her sister was in it... she didn't think it was as funny as Mom and Grandma did though. But then Mom stopped laughin' when Grandma informed her that SHE wasn't gonna clean it up. She said she cleaned Mom's pyook when she was a baby, and now it was Mom's turn to care for HER baby. I just sat there waggin' my tail. And then I did it again onna rug the next afternoon. Actually the other night while the family was out, I helped myself into the cabinbets and ate a bag of hamburger rolls. We got a few more NTD pointz last nite or this mornin... Dad went a fire drillin last nite and got sleepee after he feded us and hizself when he got home. Went sleepee inna kliner chair. Woked up at dark-thirty this mornin wiffa sore back. Let us go for an *outie* then did his stuff inna baffroom while we ran laps round the house. We made a reel loud boom-bump an he looked for upside-down furniture or the bunkroom TV inna pile but couldn't see nuffin rong http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/tongue.gif. Turned out the lites and klimbed inna bed. Only the bigbed wuzent there http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/eek.gif. Seems the boom-bump wuz the one end of bigbed fallin down after we bounced out half the sticks that hold the sprinybox up inna air tween the frame rails. He looked reel funnie wavin his handpaws round in cirkulz http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif tryin not to fall over. Almost rolled over backards onna uther side of the bed. Hadda get the traktor jack widda four liddel wheels unner bigbed ta krank it up inna air to put the sticks back unner the springybox. Dint know Dad knowed that many NawTee Wurdz... We learned a few new wunz ever time wunna us jumped onna busted bed ta get a better look while Dad wuz crawlin round unner the bed. I think we'd been put inna basement iffin he had't been so pooped after jackin the bigbed back up ta level. Wunder how many points we got for that wun?

We are SOOOOO happy, Phred, to finally get to see that these two are real dogs!! And aren't they both the most beautiful things, especially knowing how you saved them!!! Cinder, I guess I just didn't read closely enough before, but you are nothing like what I pictured you to be. But you are much larger and more regal than I could have imagined!!!

Hi, it's me, Hannah and I can't believe it after all this time I'm actually getting to see my girlfriend, Cinners. Mom says you look ZACKLY like she had pictured you. She would have recognized you right away iffin she met you on the street. Now the Smokers she had pictured differnt. Didn't think he was lookin so much like you. You really are sister and little brudder!!!! Mom says you look sooo smart too. She can see it in your eyes. I hope your dad don't mind ifin she prints out your pictures. She wants to make a bulletin board with all the doggies from Pet Talk.

See I don't take too much to all these things that smack of cooperation . Sets up all kinds of expectations at our house. So, Smokers, yah okay, that was real good you got your old dumb certificate and had to show up me and some of the udders who ain't so inclined. I'd much rather reflect on your activities running and jumping on the Big Bed. Now THAT sounds like some fun and I bet you scored some major NAWTEEDAWG points there.

Hi all Merlin here! Mom and I just got a look at the photos mom started to cry said Smoke kid looks just like the Fire dog she told me about. It was her 4-h leaders daughters dog . Fire was a terrific obediance and show dog, she (mom) spend lots of time at the home of Fire, kinda felt like she was part of the family.Hopes the kid learns lots from school (what ever that is). So many things going on at our house Mom got a new job comes home smelling of burgers all the time . Leaves very early I don't like the clock saying 5:00 am to do my biz. But she gets home about 1 so I sleep most of the morning(gotta keep the covers warm for mom) My boy Ben has started there too he leaves after mom and home before her. Dad leaves when I go out for that first potty run , but he never comes home smelling of food ?hmmmmm I get the run of the house for a couple hours. I got to fiqure out how to keep the new cat in line young whipper snapper just doesn't get the rules. Winky the old guy just ignores me thats ok hes more like a dog (mom says) Hes 11 years old and teaches me lots. we I'd better go moms pulling out the photo box says shes going to try to find a photo to put up of smoky and Fire for ya all to see. Later

Well, I had to come back one more time. The expression on Smokey's face; the last picture just makes my day! THAT is my favorite doggie expression. I don't know quite how to translate it, so I won't. Daisy here. Wow, finally I'm seein' my friends! Cinder and SmokeMutt, I gotta say you dawgs are pgood lookin'. Mom was so excited she started making happy noises like the ones I made when she came home today. She went away with a friend and for four days I wandered 'round the house and cried. I kept nudgin' everyone else to ask 'em if they noticed Mom was missin' too but no one seemed to care 's'much as me! When she came home today I kissed her forever. I love my Mom! Well again, great to "see" ya Cinner and Smoke Dawg, and way to go in skool!

We had a slow day Saturday cause Dad hadda go to Kentucky to drive a new Fire Rescue truk home for the Fire Department. He left early and seemed like he wuz nebber commin back. But Smoke an I were reel good and dint pee all day. Sunday mornin he left us again ta go play wiffa new Fire Truk Toy and we wuz feelin a liddel ignored http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/frown.gif. But then he said we could go to the Station inna afternoon iffin we promised to be quiet. We wuz inside wiif fire trucks anna guyz for almost 6 hours and ackshulee behaved the whole time. SmokePot got a lotta exposure to *guyz* and got so that anybody could pat him or give him a *skritch* widdout havin him back up and akt skairt. That's a purdy big improvement in his attitude - he's only been exposed to *gurl* people atta beedience skool and usually akts reel fearful iffin a guy hoomin tries ta give him a pat onna headbone. Anna best part wuz while Dad went inna meeting room ta teech about the new Truk and left us inna truk bay wiff *strange firefighters* we wuz quiet and good. Last time I wuz there alone I cried and yoweled and got put inna car outside cuz I made such a fuss when Dad got outta site. I hope we're loud back inna Station cuz the Fire Guyz seem ta like us since we kan be good.

Been down in the dumps, losing sleep, searching for my kitty Jasper, missing for 12 days...even with the extra licking and snuggling from Sandy and Moses, my two goldies. A sudden move in by family members in the last couple days, and we're packed and stacked to the walls. Rough time...but after finding all the stories here tonight, I want you to know I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Everyone thought I had flipped, gone over the edge with the pressure, but I was cracking up reading of all the adventurious antics of your four-legged kids. Finally I have found nuts who love their pets like me, and I'm not alone anymore. Thanks everyone, cause I think I'll finally sleep good tonight.

I sure hope you will find Jasper soon. That has to be very upsetting for you. Good luck with all the family too! I think you are in excellent company with those two wonderful Golden Retrievers though! I get a lot of comfort from having mine around, especially when I am home alone. Never a dull moment!

Dad's kinda been there, dun that when wunna us Dawgs takes a hike and ignores http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/eek.gif the old *come* call.

Have you considered sending a Dawg Partol out to try and round up the KatKid? If they all get along, the dogs might be able to spot and entice the Kat into following them back home. When one of us is overdue from a poddy trip he sometimes sends the other Dawg out to "find" the straggler. Course after our "tied together escape" atta shop, the *go find your brother/sister* search mode has only been used at the Home Ranch - too dangerous atta shop in town.

Try putting some of JasperKat's food outside on the porch or steps so he knows he's still welcome if he cruises by in the night.
