Buck used to knock down my sister with his :D Then he'd lick her to death.
Whenever i'm fixing their dinner for them Nala and Simba "get in line" right along the cupboards and Nala knocks her tail on them. :p
bnormal-Is your Callihan the doberman that was the first POTD?
I love big dogs! They are so cuddly and sweet. My best friend's dog is a golden retriver named Emma and whenever I see her she does a little "dance" and then jumps so her paws are on my shoulders and gives me tons of kisses!

I have been married for 21 years and my husband still
doesn't understand me.
Your already ahead of the game. lol
My husbands favorite large breed is the Doberman.
Beautiful animals.
Dobes are beautiful animals, and I've never met one who wasn't a sweetheart!
allanimalswelcome, Callihan is in fact the very first POTD! A fact that he never fails to mention!
Kittens, your questions are fine. My Dobes do look intimidating, however they are the biggest babies in the world. The thing to remember is that hollywood gave them their reputation as being wild killers. The Doberman is actually a very intelligent animal. In fact that is the real reason they are used so much as guard dogs. Because of their ability to be trained. It also doesn't hurt to have their appearance either.
KYS, I really had to open my mouth...now the pressure is on!
:D :D :D
thank you! anyone can see by looking at them how they look! I can see that they are not cutsie tea cup yorkies! thanks for understanding that I was not insulting your dogs, its just obvious they are a "serious"looking dog. very handsome!
and, I would love to have dogs like that , maybe someday. a funny story... one night at around 3 AM, years and years ago my mother heard a noise and went to look, opened the side garage door, and there staring at her was a doberman! she panicked and slammed the door. found out later it was the neighbors and it was a sweetie! but at that hour and not knowing!
Kittens, thanks! A unknown Dobe at 3am would be cause for a underwear change!
And if you ever get a Dobe you will be astounded by the loving personality of these mean killer dogs!;) (just like anyone would with a rott, a pit, a gsd and all of the other "killer" breeds)
:D :D :D
Oh cool the first POTD!
How old is he now?
allanimalswelcome, Callihan just turned 8 yesterday. BTW, your "handle" is excellent!
:D :D :D
My handle, do you mean my signature? Sorry I'm not exactly clear with all these internet terms:o

Rachel, your user name, "allanimalswelcome".
:D :D :D
I just saw a sign today, nailed to a post, that said
YARD SEAL!!
I'm going to go over later, and take the camera--I've never seen a yard seal, I thought they all lived in the water:D

You should ask them if yard seal protects the grass against animal waste....
:D :D :D
LOL
Omg!! Funny.
as for spelling, I wish people, and not just the younger ones, would remember that there are 3 spellings for to...
to
too
two
I see several times, "to" instead of "too".
anyway, what a hostile bunch pt has become, and it is let to be this way. I'm happy to make this my last post, and stay with the other boards I have found. I don't mean everyone of course. there are alot of very nice people on here. but , the others, well I wouldn't use the word pathetic( like was used elsewhere) but I will say, take a look in the mirror , you really think you are superior, sad! I'm sure there will be 10 pages of replies to this, oh well I won't see them.
That doesn't mean you should leave...I don't get this. How does everyone else get them selves into such "horrible" fits and so dramaically talk about leaving. I've been in many a fight...and how is it that I always seem better friends after the fight is over? Probley because I give in when I know that they have proven a point. How superior we are...
Mary , Mary, you should not leave.
You have a contribution to make to Pet-talk, it may not be to everyone's liking , but still you have spirit, so don't let a few who bother you destroy that.
:)
You should try and learn Romanian or Russian :) Actually, even if Romanian is my first language, I still think it's difficult. Well, not for me, but... And, I also spell Russian 1000 times better than my Russian co-workers. As to English, the spelling is not so difficult for me, because in words like affect or effect I look for the root in Romanian, and we pronounce afecta or efectua, so, no way I will ever make such a mistake. I am sure, I can make 1000 of other kind of mistakes. And I still spell French very well, although I must have and awful accent already.Quote:

I remember my colleague, our other translator, being an University teacher for years, made a mistake once, she wrote in a report to our boss instead of the word mail the word male. Our boss kept teasing her with this :)
I agree with Mary that we became a bunch of hostile people, but we should look at the roots of the problem, sometimes the ones that feel offended are the ones that interpret it wrong. As someone else has said, there are three ways to take cristicism. I learned to accept it and learn from it. This only makes me better. I know SAS didn't mean to offend anyone.
And, by the way, Sallyanne, I love reading your posts, just because your sentences are so well structured and I can really understand your words. Sometimes, when I read some posts, I have to pronounce the words, so I can understand what the meaning is :)
Viorica, I agree that it's a pleasure to read people's posts which are well structured, and we can learn so much from it. :)
I too tend to skip the badly written posts, I just don't have the time.
Once I had a guy working for me who was very smart -- he had his Phd. etc. He knew ancient Greek and Latin. His memos however, were HORRIBLE. Long, long sentences, complex paragraphs that went on for a page. Just looking at his memos no one wanted to read them. AND... he thought it amusing to make up new words using Greek and Latin root words.
I tried and tried to explain to him that communications is ONLY successful if it is read and the reader understands the thoughts, feelings, or ideas you are trying to convey. If the reader doesn't read it or understand...it doesn't matter how clever you are....you failed!
Good writing is a joy....bad writing...well it's agony!
Mary, I had thought you left once or twice... Did you make more names on here?
As for Pet Talk being hostile, no one seemed a bit hostile when I met them all at the meeting. :)
