There is a giraffe on right now!
You know what I really love about this site?? Not only the wildlife but all those birdies singing in the background. I would love to know what kind of birds they are and see a picture of them.
Sleep?? Who needs sleep.... :o :D
I see the two giraffes right now. You can hear him slurping the water.
Edit: There several giraffes with a baby now.
I saw the one giraffe come and get a drink last night (11 p.m. my time) and then join another in the trees to eat. Went to bed before I saw the baby. Will need to stay up later tonight! :D
There is a herd of deer (impala?) on right now.
Slick - if you go into the Africam forum you will see postings that identify birds just by their calls, as well as by sight. Some of the people on the forum have obviously been in South Africa and really know their stuff.Quote:

Geezzz.... I am so adicted to this! And I am at work! I keep it minimized on my screen, and then I go back to it periodically. That herd the Slick wrote about earlier is still there! And I thought I saw something larger moving in the background.
I am hoping to see the giraffe and her baby! I LOVE giraffes!
THIS IS SOOOOOO COOL!!!! :D
:::but don't tell my boss, okay???:::
Actually, I just saw some type of bird divebomb the pond. Fish??? How can their be fish in that pond?? There's no incoming or outgoing water....or am I wrong??
Now they are zooming in on a couple of turtles on the bank...
Gee, I just have to get ready for work...at some point...
Aaaccckkk, it just cut off and says Media Inactive. I guess that's my sign. I'll try again just before I leave for work.
They may have been catching insects that were hovering on top of the water. I've seen that also, and thought fish at first. Would the reserve people have put fish in there to keep the water clean? I've assumed the water is coming up from a natural spring.Quote:

I keep worrying about the mother giraffe. The wounds on the inside of her back legs certainly looked like she'd been atacked.
Did any of you see the turtles at waters edge this morning? (night time there) It was difficult to really tell their size because there wasn't a point of reference. There were two of them.
Aren't the giraffes the most graceful of animals? I watched the large one walk away and from the rear it was the most feminine of sashaying I have ever seen.
I havenīt seen anything other than shooting stars  .........basically when itīs daytime there, Iīm away from the computer  :p .........but definately been checking it out on a regular basis.........hopefully I see something soon
I've seen giraffes, several species of ungulate, and a lot of lovely birds! I'm so glad this was posted!
There's alot of action going on right now. :) I don't need a life.....I've got Africam!!! :p :D  :o
Yep, lots of animals being shown now! Of course, I need to go to bed so I can go to work tomorrow morning. All of the good stuff happens when I am sleeping. :p
oh, there are wildebeest! (did i spell that right?) i love the sounds of the birds, it's lovely and so peaceful!
Did you see the wildebeest racing around and kicking up a lot of dust? It went on for ages. They also got into some mock fights, going head to head, and then racing all round again. I've never seen them so active. After that, they went off together for a long drink of water.
Edited to add that at last I'm seeing an elephant. He or she is having a great time at the watering hole, drinking and throwing water everywhere. After going to the web site so many, many times and seeing either nothing or animals I've seen before, it was huge a huge shock to see the elephant right there.
And, here come some warthogs.
Finally, I get to see an elephant! He's huge! LOL! :D
oooh and baby warthogs!
Thanks for posting this!
(Something to kill the time while I'm waiting in Atlanta-Hartsfield after my flight was cancelled)
Doesn't it just knock your socks off when an elephant shows up?
Dang....it's not working tonight. I keep getting "Page not found". If this carries on much longer, I'm going to get the DTs. :o
The site I have said they apologized, but the webcam was "under repair"..........Quote:

There is another lightening storm going on at the reserve right now with blinding flashes of light searing across the screen several times a minute. The sound keeps crackling. Apparently they had one last night and that's why it took a while for the cam to work this morning.
Something rather armadillo like just approached the water and then veered off as more lightening flashed. It wasn't moving in a dog style, so I don't think a hyena, nor was it really slow but it seemed quite low to the ground. It's hard to tell at night.
Now that is what I call a lightening and thunderstorm! WOW!!
I have been watching several different Cams in Africa for awhile, but this one seems pretty good.
Not sure if many of you know that I am originally from South Africa (well, born in Australia, but grew up in South Africa). Every time we go back, we get fantastic photos when we go to the game reserves.
I am happy to post some shots for you if you need a "certain animal" fix :D
Lots of animals now!
Lots of Impala's and Wildebeests, there's even a baby!! Oh so cute!
They keep zooming up on the little one!!!
I just have to laugh because it's 94F there and Zero F here!! LOL!
Just a little bit of a difference! :D
Woohoo!! I actualy get to see critters!! this is so cool! Wildebeast is one thirsty boy!!
Finally I'm seeing activity! Great :)
Oh Lookie!!
There are 2 Impala's play fighting and 2 baby Wildebeests playing and chasing each other around too!!!
Hmm... I'm watching it now, and although I don't see anything, there are some VERY frantic birds in the background (or sitting ON the camera, that's how close they sound, lol) and it sounds like it's thundering every once and while. :) I like the crickets and the birds. Woke Abby right up! :D
The camera seems to be out of whack again - it has been doing that lately when it is nighttime there.
But it was up and running this morning with wildebeast and impala and some large birds.
Perhaps there was another storm, that throws the cam out of whack and they have to fix it each morning.
Have others joined the forum? It's very, very helpful.
{{{barf}}} whom ever is running the camera this morning is doing a great job of making me sick!! They are whipping it all around SUPER fast!
There are TONS of Impala's there now. WOW!! I've never seen this many at once!!!
I was viewing it at the same time - whoever it was took us on quite a ride didn't they? It really was making my stomach turn too so I had to switch it off.
When I was on before 7 this morning the camera was pointing straight down and making a 360 deg. turn and back again.
Now, I'm enjoying the most beautiful animals...too far away to tell, could be deer or giselle. They are running and jumping so high. Man, I would love to be there. :)
Missed the camera aka rollercoaster this morning, but was able to see some gizelle grazing. I haven't yet seen my giraffe! But I keep hoping!
Right now there is no animal activity, but lots of birds. There is one that almost sounds like an echo! Just listening to the birds and crickets is so soothing!
I am so adicted to this site!
I know! it's so calming and peaceful!Quote:

Just bumping this back up.
I haven't seen any animals except birds so far, so I'll be really excited when I see my first animal! I hear lots of birds in the background though. :)
