To update everyone, there has still been no response from his side, so my lawyer, tired of the waiting game, is sending a letter today to demand we proceed with the questioning on Monday, March 14th. Enough is enough already. We're ready to take this to a judge and be done. I will be sitting with her tomorrow afternoon so she can prepare me for the questions. I wish someone could prepare me to be in the same room with this monster! That's going to be the hard part. I know you all will be behind me though so I will stand tall (as tall as a 5 foot nothing girl can) and strong. So they can either provide a response immediately or we forge ahead. We'll see how it shakes out.
Okay, it's not the size that counts, it's the size of the attitude that counts! I have gotten through various situations in life that people couldn't believe I did unscathed, and I would explain, "Hey, I may just be 5'6" but I think I'm 6'2"! I inherited Dad's attitude, just not the height to back it up."
So for that day, I am officially loaning you my Tall, Strong and Fearless attitude, okay? And another tip - a low, deep growl is completely unexpected from a little white girl. Scared the bejesus outta folks when they were not expecting it. I explained to one person - "hey, my German Shepherd helped raise me. Of course I growl like a big dog!"
So let me know what time I should be meek that day, and what hours, so you can use my whole attitude for your own! I'd send you my "lions, tigers and leopards" jacket if we had time, it's the fiercest article of clothing I own!
Sorry I can't be with you in person, but I'm there in spirit!
Gayle, I can understand you being scared...but I think you could call up a good fit of anger as this jerk has likely played games with his lawyer and has held up the proceedings. I can just see you going into that questioning room and giving him the biggest raspberry ever!:D
(I don't think giant baseball bats are allowed in the room, are they? ;):D )
Wear leopard underwear and really long nails....there ya go!
Hold you head high.. You are WOMAN, LET HIM HEAR YOU ROAR!!!
Remember these few things..
1- The hard part is already behind you... (You put up with that jerk for how many years and survived? This'll be a piece of cake!)
2- DON'T PLAY HIS GAME IN COURT! (meaning, he will be trying to push any and every button of yours that he can, it ONLY works if YOU let it! DON'T LET HIM!!!)... if you change the rules of his game, he looses control!
3- Smile like you know something he don't know (That'll make HIM nervous!) and keep that smile on your face the whole time. Draw a smiley face in your hand to remind you to smile. SMILE WITH CONFIDENCE!!! WALK WITH CONFIDENCE! SIT WITH CONFIDENCE! SPEAK WITH CONFIDENCE! (Always SMILE before you speak!!!)
4- Remember- You ARE worthy!! You ARE unique! You ARE better than he is! and most of all you ARE better off without him!
What a lovely gift Laura has given you - great advice. I can only
add an Eleanor Roosevelt quote "no one can make you feel inferior without your consent"
All of us are behind you - this will soon be over and you can celebrate the beginning of the rest of your life!
( Oh, if you really need something to make to smile in court, just look at him and remember what my Mama use to say.... THAT saying right there has pulled me through so many rough spots with a smile on my face that puzzled everybody else when I should have been fuming I was smiling.)Quote:
"IT'S OK TO BE STUPID! YA JUST SHOULDN'T OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND LET THE REST OF THE WORLD KNOW IT!".
Or, picture me there just walking past and growling at him in my best German shepherd growl ... That'll give you a grin!
Gayle, we're all with you in that courtroom.. including felines, canines, whatever-ines!
OMG, between Laura and Karen he doesn't stand a chance! :D
Thank you ALL so very, very much. Your support and advice are so truly appreciated.:love:
Had my prep yesterday, the questioning will proceed Monday. Unless, in the next 2 days they come up with a full and proper settlement. If he fails to show for the questioning things will escalate very quickly, much to his displeasure I'm sure. The time for being nice and patient has passed. My lady lawyer is like a dog that's been teased long enough by the bone just out of her reach, she's ready to get busy.
The stress is wreaking havoc on my IBS. But I keep telling myself, it's almost over, it's almost over.
Hang on Gayle-
Calming thoughts for Monday coming at you.
Think of us, because we'll be with you in spirit.
