Oh Logan, I just saw this thread. I flashed through it looking only for your posts and my heart was in my mouth.
Thank goodness Lilly is alright and eating well.
Oh my, these critters that we adore - give us lots of grey hairs!
It came out, for sure, with a little help from her mom :p , but it was so worth it! Our girl is doing GREAT!!!! :D
Logan, I just caught up with this thread and I'm happy to hear that Lilly is feeling much better now. :)
Give her a big hug from me. :D

Did you take it to Doc Robinson for "show & tell"?
Hey Lilly --- try to stick to what's IN your BOWL ... not what you can scavenge up.
Another Chapter in the Book you otta write.
:D
PS: THANKS, God! ;)
Thank goodness, whatever it was, is out of her and Lilly can get back to normal! :)
Phred, it was like a string out of a sweatshirt or sweatpants. And yes, I took it in for them to examine it. I believe it had to have come off of one of Mack's toys, though.Quote:

Lilly has gone back to spend the afternoon at Dr. Robinson's office. She is throwing up again, not eating, and now has diarrhea, too. He is running blood work and perhaps giving her iv fluids, too. I'll know more later when I go back over to pick her up.
Please keep my Golden girl in your prayers, one more time.
Logan
Oh darn. :( Maybe Lilly didn't pass all of it. :( Prayers for Lilly as long
as it takes, poor girl.
Lilly, Lilly, more prayers for you sweet girl.
The new bloodwork indicated that her white count is going down. That is a
good thing. But her red count has dropped, too, which means she is losing
blood and is slightly anemic. He said that he walked her outside, observed
the diarrhea and it is full of blood. Her colon is apparently bleeding from
where I pulled that string out. She got a good dose of B vitamins, iron,
and antibiotics, as well as a shot of Reglan (to help the nausea) and some
liquid medication to coat her tummy and intestinal track and help the
diarrhea. I gave her an injection of Reglan this morning, and forced her to
swallow about 20cc of the anti-diarrheal medication. He said at any sign of
change in her behavior or continued digestive problems, I am to call him,
right away, and he will meet me at his office (they are closed on
Thursdays). Otherwise, she will go back tomorrow and spend the day so that he can observe her. I pushed him about her recovery and I never did get a real strong "oh, she'll be fine in no time". I gather this is pretty
serious, but that is why it is so important for me not to wait if I see
anything getting worse.
Lilly is much less enthusiastic this morning. She is sleeping and did ask
to go outside around 5:45 this morning for a little while. She wasn't
interested in eating this morning, so I didn't push her. She had a little
bit of boiled potato last night and some bread and she did digest all of
that because when she threw up overnight, I didn't see any of that come
back. They did tell me, this morning, that the iron and vitamins probably
gave her a little boost, yesterday, and made her feel better, thus her
enthusiasm last night.
Patsy (the vet tech) called me this morning around 8:15 and said Dr.
Robinson had already called her to see how Lilly was doing. He woke her up!
Ha Ha! I'm glad he cares enough to follow up that early and he knew I would
call Patsy if I had any problems. We'll continue to watch her closely, as
he said we had to do, and if anything changes, I'll call them right away. I
went to the office and got my stuff and brought it home so I wouldn't have
to stay there. I may have to go back for an hour or so this afternoon, but
I hope not.
He does not believe that any of that string (or whatever it was) is left in her system, since we got such a big piece when she did pass it. And I asked if there was any possibility that her intestines had been perforated by this "thing" and he said "absolutely not" as she would be "down" in a much worse way if her body was being contaminated. Whew! I guess that is the bit of good news I have to report today.
I'll keep you posted. Thanks so much for the prayers.
Logan
Prayers still on the way here. Poor Lilly, I'm sure her intestines are irritated beyone belief from having that sting in them so long. If she is taking iron pills, they may upset her tummy too! Mine always did!!!
Get well soon sweet Lilly!!! Prayers flying and all paws and fingers are crossed here for you!!!
I spoke with Logan a couple times yesterday. Lilly and she spent the entire day at the vets. Tests now have indicated kidney failure. Lilly has had a blood transfusion which is a last ditch effort to turn her situation around. Please say some prayers for this golden girl. She's had a very rough time things don't look good.
