I am glad to hear that Daisy is doing better. Having a jerk vet during that difficult time couldn't have helped.
Hi guys, sorry it's been so long since I posted, but we were busy cleaning the house (which still isn't done) and doing laundry (which still isn't done either)!! lol
Daisy came home on Sunday morning about 10am. Just before I got there, he had taken her out and she FINALLY pooped!! She was SOOOOO happy to see me and I was SOOOOO happy to see her. The vet kept telling me what a great dog she is (to which I responded....of course she is...she's MY dog!! lol...I figured if he can be cocky so can I!)
She is taking 2 amoxys twice a day and is to be fed 3-4 times a day about a cup at a time. She has to be taken out on a leash only for 2 weeks. The incision is about 12 inches long and is stapled shut. He said the incision on the intestine is also pretty long, but he double sewed it shut to lessen the chance of leakage.
This leash thing is driving her nuts...she wants to go out and run and play so badly she can't stand it. It makes me sad that she can't do that, but she needs to heal.
OH YEAH...the vet actually called yesterday morning to check on her...I was pretty durn impressed!
You guys can't know how much Mike and I appreciate all your good thoughts and prayers for our baby. Thanks so much!
I know you are happy to have her home, Molly! And good for the vet, calling to check in!! He'll win you over yet!! :D
I'm so glad Daisy Mae is doing so well. That is some serious surgery, and too many dogs have to have it! But this is the first time I ever heard of a whole leash being swallowed! My friend had to have her Golden Retriever (Lilly's grandmother) operated on twice for injesting the wrong things. First time, it was the plastic grill cover. Second time, it was a dish rag she stole off the sink! She is no worse for all the surgeries though!
YIPEEEEEE! A WILD HAPPY DANCE IS IN PROGRESS IN DAISY MAE'S HONOR!!!
I'm so glad she is home safe and sound. :D
What wonderful news, Molly!! Please give Daisy Mae a big welcome home hug and kiss! Such a happy ending!:)
YEAH!!! Good girl Daisy for going poop so you could come home!!! it must be wonderful to have her back!!!
Excellent news! :D
WELCOME HOME, DAISY!!!
WELCOME HOME MISS DAISY MAE! Your Pet Talk family is celebrating with your mom and dad on your homecoming!!! :D :D
Hope Daisy's healing nicely. I wish her a speedy
recovery. Take it nice & easy there Daisy Mae !!!:)
You all are in my thoughts & prayers.:) Liz & Buddy.
How's Daisy doing? We all hope her recovery is progessing and that she is taking her medication. (No pill spitting - pteww)
Hope Daisy is getting better and better!!
Rachel, isn't it amazing how they can get those pills back up after having them wrapped in cheese, liver sausage and chicken?? Killian just brought up his 2 meds that were wrapped. How do they do it?? LOL
Daisy is back to her old weird self. Last night she was jumping straight up in the air (off of all 4s) and turning circles in the air. Now picture that...she's 100 pounds!! lol She HATES not being able to go off leash when she's outside...she retaliates by pooping in the house instead of outside.
She takes her meds fine...she's just about as good as Sox. With Sox all we do is put it in her mouth and she willingly swallows it. Daisy just needs a little incentive...Mommy or Daddy shoving it part way down her throat! lol EEEEWWWWW....Great Dane slime!! lol
Thanks again for everyone's interest and caring!!
Yipppppppppe for Daisy Mae! Just make sure you keep that leash out of your mouth!!:D Now, listen to your Mommy and be a good patient sweet Daisy Mae!!:) Get well hugs and kisses to you sweet girl!
