Goodness, yes, prayers are going up right now for Barbara's healing and strength for her and Peter to endure whatever comes.
Hate to come into this thread because it seems I spent a lot of my year asking for prayers, but I have a few to add if you don't mind.
My dear friend's mother is going into surgery today - it's a serious surgery, she's having a HUGE hernie removed. I mean HUGE. They are unsure if she's going to make it or not.
Secondly, my grandmother's sister is deathly ill and they don't know if she's going to make it. My grandma is still grieving from my papa's death, this is just breaking her heart even more. Please keep her sister and my grandmother in your thoughts.
Thank you and hugs to you all!
I will add Barbara, Kay's great aunt, Kay's friend's mother and all others to my prayer list. There is too much sadness these days it seems. I truly believe in the power of prayer.
Logan
Prayers for Kay's family, and for Kay - and more prayers for all that need them.
Thank you all for your prayers.
Peter just phoned me (Barbara's husband). He said they met with the oncologist yesterday - and he has the MRI scans right in front of him.
The brain tumour which appeared over a year ago and resisted treatment has metastesized badly...there is no point in any treatment.
Barbara will not have visitors until she is in hospice - right now, Peter says, "she alternates between sleeping and sobbing". She is very distressed after the great and upward fight she has been engaged in these last 6 1/2 years.
Prayers please for Peter and Barbara.

Prayers are on the way!!I feel so bad when i hear this...especially the sobbing all the time.Life can be so hard:(
This is so sad.
Came back to let you all know that my grandmother's sister passed away. Please keep my grandma in your thoughts.
Hugs and prayers to your grandma, Kay...I wish her peace. She is having a very hard time (not that you aren't).
I hope she knows that people she has never met are wishing her the best, and feeling for her.
Yes, I need lots of prayers for my mom...

Prayers for all of those that need it. Prayers needed for my Logan kitty. He's at MSU and very sick. :(
Still waiting for the referral - found out it needs to be for an endocrinologist before it can be for a surgeon. Have to follow all the correct procedures.
My neurologist gave me some medicine that should help block the calcium and prevent it from going up any higher.
Hubby is frightened, as I begged him to just let me die this morning, the pain in my head is so bad, every day.
Goodness, until such time as you see the endocrinologist, isn't there something that they can give you for pain besides the calcium blocker? I'm so sorry that you're in so much pain and prayers are going up right now that this will cease and you will get relief.
Just stopped by to give everyone my love and some *hugs*.
Grandma is still in the hospital. I haven't heard much yet, but they do know that she has an infection in her blood from an untreated bladder infection. Which seems kind of sketchy, because aren't bladder infections pretty painful? :(
Her fever has gone down, but it goes back up to 102-103 every night. :( Any idea why this is?
Goodness - so many people needing so many prayers. It always seems so much more tragic during the holiday season.
To all of you needing those prayers - many are going up from me and the gang here in Delaware. May you all find peace and healing. Bless you all!
Scooter's Mom - I hope the calcium blocker gives you some relief - but heavens, is there anything else they can give you for the pain? Gosh, that breaks my heart....:(
Maybe hubby can get on the phone and ask? At least to speed up the referral? Get you on a cancellation list for the Endo person?
I hope you get treatment SOON!
Stay with us, hon...prayers that the pain goes away, lessens...:love::love:
Most typical pain meds they'd give me will cause rebound migraines, which would just make the situation worse. Even something simple like ibuprofen can cause (and does in my case) rebound headaches.
My insurance will only cover 4 imitrex a month. I have that many migraines a week most of the time. I'm on a preventative, I have had MRI's and CT scans to make sure nothing else is going on, all we found is the calcium being high. I just have to wait until I can see the endocrinologist.
I just don't know if I can.
OH Crystal, I'm so sorry to hear all that you're going through!! I hope you can get into that doctor/endocrinologist soon! You'd think they'd take emergency visits to get you on to where you need to go. Gosh, how frustrating to have to wait when you really need to be seen now.
Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope that you'll be seen and having everything taken care of.
Hugs to you!!!
Crystal - if imitrex works for you, can you or your husband please ask the doctor if there are any samples from the drug companies that can be given to you?
Here is the contact information for the company that makes Imitrex. Sometimes the company can be of great help in getting a few more to you.

HUGS!
Lots of prayers being sent to everyone that needs them.
PLEASE pray for my grandpa. He is not feeling well at all and needs lots of prayers right now. Thank you all so much.
:(
I usually do not ask for prayers because I'm not very religious. But the person I am asking for is.
Bruce's mom slipped at church today and broke her hip. :( She is 71 years old, is a cancer survivor, has a pace-maker and is on blood thinners. (Wow, she sounds like she is in horrible health.) But she is actually a very physical/athletic person. She could out hike me anyday!!
I am sure she will be fine, but now she will be laid up for the holidays. We have Xmas eve at her house.
We are not sure if she needs surgery yet, she is still at the hospital. We are over an hour away so we are just waiting to hear how things are going.
If you could spare a moment to think of her and hope that she will have a quick recovery, the family would appreciate it.
And I hold everyone requiring it in my thoughts as well.
ETA: Crystal, Candace has a good point. When I went to the doctor for headaches she gave me samples of Imitrex. Its worth a shot to try. I am sorry you are going through this. :(
So sorry to hear of this. Prayers to Bruce's mom for an easy recovery!
Planning and Zoning Commission meets tomorrow evening -- please pray it will go through.Quote:

I don't come here often enough. My goodness, there is so much sadness here. I'm so sorry for every person here that needs prayers and comfort. I am sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}} out to all of you. :(
Spent last night in the ER trying to get rid of a migraine. Imitrex didn't work, so they had to give me pain meds and anti-nausea meds. I came home and slept all day, literally. I woke up at 5:07 pm. These are disruptive to my life and my work. I can't wait to get into the endocrinologist to see if having the parathyroid gland tumor removed helps, or if they even think it's related.
Learned tonight that the hyperparathyroidism can cause irreversible kidney damage, too.
*sigh*
i had to put in an appeal to my insurance company because they'd only allow a certain amount of pills for something.
you can do the same with your imitrex.
it usually works.
imitrex i hear is a once daily pill...you need it once daily to work.
not 4 pills a month.
that sounds crazy.i'd appeal that one.
Sending Prayers your way
Thank you Jennie, and others. We are still waiting to find out when she can have surgery. They are waiting for her Coumadin levels to drop, so her blood is thick enough for surgery. I just hope they can do the surgery SOON so she will be home for Christmas. She will have to spend 3 or 4 days at a rehabilitation center after surgery too. Fingers are crossed.
Crystal, I hope you can find a solution to your headaches soon.
Bruce's mom is FINALLY having surgery this morning. 10am PST. So in 1 hour and 40 minutes.
I heard some scary things about hip replacement surgery. Things that I don't even want to repeat and I have NOT told Bruce. So please, if anyone reads this, keep his mother in your thoughts today.
I also hope she will be home for Christmas Eve.
Thank you! :)
The mother of a friend of mine just had hip replacement surgery. She's 83 and doing great. She had been in a wheelchair and now she's walking w/out assistance and is going to her daughter's for Christmas Day dinner w/the family. Miracles happen. So keep the faythe.
I too have a long time friend who just had hip surgery. It has been a huge success and has changed her life. There are good stories and a few bad..............have faith - she will be just fine and good as new!!
Also, prayers for everyone here who needs them. May God answer all of our prayers!
Thank you Mary and Gini. That is what I really needed to hear right now. I can't help but be thinking the worst after what I had heard. This makes me feel so much better. :)
How is Bruce's mom doing? If she has remained active at her age, then that is definitely a plus for her. The not so good results usually occur when people are in poor physical condition to start with, or they just give up.
I fractured my hip last February. I did not have a hip replacement - just a huge rod put in the top portion of my femur. It was 4 days in the hospital, a week in the rehab center, and then home in a wheel chair. I had home therapy for about a month until I could get out on my own with a walker, then outpatient therapy for about 3 months, and now I'm pretty much back to normal. I don't even use my cane anymore! :) I'm a little shorter and walk with a small limp - but other than that and being extra achey in the cold weather - I'm back to normal (whatever that is!). It was a long haul and not easy by any means, but not nearly as bad as I had heard (even from my doctor). Hopefully she'll do as well as I did! :)
Prayers for Taz Zoee for Bruce's mom.
Scooter's Mom, my mom has had benign tumors taken off her parathyroid gland twice. The first one she had the tumor and part of the gland removed. She is going for a biopsy in January because her calcium level is above 11 again. But apart from that she has done very well.
It passed the P&Z meeting, 5 to 2. City council is apparently just a formality to act on the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission.Quote:

I have GOOD NEWS- a potential buyer came to look at the building yesterday and came back today - so we are hoping. Please pray that either this might be "the one" or the financial situation might ease up somehow. ...
Well, there's an offer. It's not the offer we wanted, but it's an offer. The bad news is all the fees and taxes that will be owed. Grrrrrr! ...
Update to the update. Because of zoning issues, the transaction needs to past first the Planning and Zoning Commission and then the full city council. It's in a residential neighborhood but the business was there before the zoning ordinance took effect. Please keep praying. ...
The P&Z commissioner came in and took a look around. There's nothing that isn't fixable. The buyer is still interested. Thank you for your prayers about that. ...

Thanks for that. It's very unnerving!
The endocrinologist is booking into APRIL right now. But since my neurologist is related to him by marriage, I might be able to get in a little sooner. I'm hoping anyway! I tried all day yesterday to make an appointment, but we kept missing each other (hard for me to take calls at work...)
Thank you for asking. We went to visit her last night. She is doing okay. She's very cranky. Complains about the hospital food, LOL. And she is in a LOT of pain too. I guess today she had a mishap with her IV line and bled out a lot. :( One step forward, two steps back.
And she is not going to be home for Christmas either. :( She thought she might get out of the hospital on Monday (now I don't know with what happened today), and then it's a week in the rehab home. So we will be celebrating Christmas with her later.
This has really brought her down. I expected a more positive attitude from her but I'm not seeing it. Although she did mention being able to hike again evenutally, so that's a positive thing.
Thank you, cassiesmom, for the prayers. I think that is what is keeping her going.
Crystal, I am still keeping you in my thoughts and hope you feel better soon. Also anyone else that needs them.
There's something about getting older that makes us cranky, not all the time of course, but we hate the thought of it. It's embarrassing to not be able to do some of the things that we used to do and then have to ask for help yet. I'm still young but once in a while I have to ask for help, such as driving at night; I just can't see well at night any more. So that could be why Bruce's mom isn't as positive as she could be. Then she caught herself and mentioned hiking again. She's going to be alright. Whether your celebrate Christmas now or later, the important thing is that you'll be celebrating. :)
Please continue to keep this family in your prayers.
My friend's brother in law (her husband's brother) and his wife also had a stillborn baby on Dec 10th. It would have been the third child for both sets of parents.
Its rather eerie this happened to them as well so far along in the pregnancy.
I know my friend didn't do an autopsy on Sidney but not sure about the other family. So as far as I know they don't know why it happened.
Thank you.
