Are there any new developments in Hope's long saga? I hope that no news is good news. Hang in there you 2, you're in my thoughts.
Hope has seemed to tolerate the Flagyl okay but we are still keeping a close eye on her. Her blood sugar was at 258 this week which is a lot better that 404!!! She will have her blood drawn again on Monday and her eye test is next Thursday. So we will keep thinking positive thoughts and pray that her eye test shows that her retina's are fine. :)
Oh yes we will!! Positive thoughts only. I have faith that it will work out. She has been through enough, she deserves it.
Prayers will be flying your way from this household!!!
We're sending a big bundle of love and prayers for Hope, Julie! So glad to hear the blood sugar is coming down. Hang in there precious one! We're all rooting for you! Have mama give you lots of kisses please. :)
I haven't posted much but I have been following along and praying for dear Hope. It seems that despite her physical problems, she is thriving emotionally and I do believe that is what is keeping her fighting all these battles. Bless you, Julie, for fighting so hard for her and with her.
DOGRESQ,
I'm so happy to hear good news re Hope's
blood sugar!!! Would like to echo RachelJ's
comments about Hope's emotional well being.
Hope's love of you Julie, and the love &
caring she experiences makes her fight all
the harder to live!!!
GOOD POSITIVE THOUGHTS will keep
coming your way from Liz & Buddy...

Julie, you truly are heaven sent! :)
I agree, Sandra! Julie, you are Hope's angel! Much love and prayers coming your way from me and Daisy!
Ok, mugsy needs another update on the sugar saga of Hope. I hope (pardon the pun)that the news is good and that the eye surgery is going as planned. HI HOPE!!!!!!
Hello Everyone! Hope is over the giardia and had no problems with the medication. YEAH!!! Her blood sugar is still a little higher that what they would like but not at a critical level so the vet is monitoring her closely and adjusting her Insulin very slowly so she won't crash again. She is doing great otherwise and actually is becoming quite a watch dog. She hears things way before my other dogs and she lets me know it! I am sure her hearing is fine tuned to compensate for the blindness. Her favorite game now is for me to put my hand under the blanket and she chases my hand and play bites and growls. It is amazing how she has come out of her shell!! Her eye test is on Thursday so I am praying that her retina's have not been damaged. The surgery is still scheduled for Oct. 31. Thanks for all the positive thoughts and prayers!! They are definitely helping Hope! I will let you know how things go on Thursday. :D
YAAAAY HOPE! Our prayers are working!!!! Keep us updated, Julie! Thank you so much for all your work and updates. Any chance we could get some new pictures if you have a chance? ;)
YEAH!!! I'm so glad to hear more good news. You made me laugh when you told us about Hope chasing fingers under the blanket. Our Sox is the same way...she even jumps up in the air to attack the evil hand! It does my heart good to hear that she is continuing to learn to play. We need to hear updates on Thursday, and I'm sure it will be good news with all the good thoughts and prayers going her way. When you write to us on Thursday please tell us about the rest of your poochies. We know about Hope (which I look forward to), but we don't know about the rest of them...God knows everyone knows about our brood....over and over and over.....
Thanks for the great news about Hope!!! I pray that all goes well for her. I'll be waiting for that update!! Good luck.
DOGRESQ,
Just wondering if you have any news on
Hope? Did the DR. check her retina's?,If so
what did he think?
You,Julie and sweet baby Hope, are in my
thoughts and prayers!!!All the best to you
and yours!!! Liz & Buddy.
GREAT NEWS!!!!! According to the eye specialist Hope's retina's are "perfect"! We will start preparing her for surgery the end of this week with special medication and eye drops and she will have surgery on Oct. 31. The eye specialist is also going to be putting a special lens on one of her eyes to improve her sight even more and at no charge! I am so excited I can hardly stand it! Thanks again for all of your prayers and positive thought for Hope!! It has helped us both more that you will ever know!! :D

I almost hesitate to check this topic for fear of more bad news. What a joy to see that things are turning in Hope's favor. Maybe this is a sign of more good things to come.
I had to go back to edit because after I posted I saw your website. Hope is looking MARVELOUS. What a difference your love and care has made and the whole bunch of furkids are quite a family. Thanks for sharing them with us.

DOGRESQ, you are a miracle worker!! I looked, like, three times at Hope's picture on your website and couldn't believe my eyes. She's gorgeous  ! What a beautiful sleek coat and a jaunty expression!
I'll be thinking of her having surgery on Halloween and wishing her luck! She deserves it, God knows. :D
DOGRESQ,
Loved the pictures of your Gang !!!
What a Great family of furkids you have there!! Isn't it funny that the more animal
companions we have to share our lives with..the bigger your heart becomes to include them all..
Hope looks really GOOD!!! Thank You Julie
for sharing these pics with everyone...

WOW!
It doesn't even look like the same dog!
Amazing what a little love and kindness will do!
Thank you dogresq! All your furbabies look great!
What a great family you have. Wait a minute, what's what I see on Hope? My goodness, it's a belly!!!! You actually have some weight!!! You're looking great, girl. Julie's work has definitely been paying off!!! Hope, I can't wait until the day I read the post that says that you have finally been able to see that Angel who has helped you so much!!! I'll be praying for a good outcome to your surgery!!!
I have not been keeping up with this post, but it's not because I don't care...because I DO, very much! I found it hard to look at the original picture of Hope. I have never seen such extreme starvation and it hurt to see it. I looked at your new pictures and I honestly had to go back to the original picture to see if it truly was the same dog....amazing. Thank you so much for being an angel to that beautiful dog. Looking at that lovely girl *who was smiling* was a treat.
I will be thinking about you on Halloween, Hope, and I hope everything continues to get better and better :)
With love,
Leslie & Graham
Your fur family is so beautiful! Wow, look at Hope! She looks so much better than she did when Sue first posted her picture. Keep up the good work!
Julie, I had to do a double, triple take! I couldn't believe that was the Hope we met not so long ago!! She looks beautiful; there is peace in her eyes! Eyes that will hopefully soon see even more clearly the beauty of the world, and her MAGNIFICENT saviour and friend. Can't you feel those wing buds sprouting!! :)
Glad all of you have enjoyed the pictures and I too, myself, look at Hope and cannot believe she is the same dog! She now weighs 53 pounds! She was at 27 pounds at her lowest weight. I am counting down the days until her eye surgery and I am getting very anxious! Only 8 more days!!!! :D
Wooooo-hoooooooo!!! :) :)
Oh, Julie....I got tears in my eyes, looking at your beautiful "family", and seeing Hope, all perky and filled out. I am just thrilled for you and for Hope! Something tells me the surgery will go just fine for this precious "angel" girl.
Logan
Hey, I just realized, I have a REALLY good friend whose birthday is on Halloween...I tell her to add Hope to her list...maybe they have a connection! Gee Julie, I think I'm as excited as you are. I'm certain the surgery will go well too...she's had her share of heartache...it's her time.
Hope girl!!! 2 more days and you'll be able to see!!!! Good luck and we'll be thinking about you. Julie, you are a godsend. Keep up the good work. Let us know what happens.
We are moving you into high gear in our prayers, precious Hope! We can't wait to hear that you can see your lovely Julie! :D
Well, its the final countdown and I am so nervous!!!! Hope has been on special eye drops and medication since last Friday in preparation for the surgery. I have been trying to get her used to the collar she has to wear after surgery so she cannot scratch her eyes and she does not like it at all! She just stands there and doesn't move. Hopefully she will be a little better by Wednesday. Keep thinking good thoughts and I will let all of you know on Wednesday how it went. :)
I, for one can't wait!! Those "E" collars are a pain in the butt, but they get used to them....kind of...when we had to get Billy's eye taken out, he was pretty amusing for awhile until he got used to it. The other dogs just treated it like a toy and chewed the snot out of it! Picture that one if you will! lol Good luck baby Hope!!! Prayers are headed your way!!! Hang in there Julie, just know we're all with you on this!
I have been following Hope's progress without making any comments but I have to congratulate you on wonderful she looks! It has to be very gratifying to have brought her so far. You are definitely her angel.
I have been a regular lurker (and sometimes poster) on both Blinddogs.com and a diabetic canine board at http://pub3.ezboard.com/fpetswithdia...aninediabetes. I've learned a lot from everyone there. Have you tried either?
I will be praying for Hope's surgery. Please keep us informed. Even if we don't post often, there are a lot of people who are wishing the best for you both.
Mary
I just went through the postings and read about your miracle baby and of all the love, compassion and HOPE you've put into this precious dog. You're an incredible person Julie and I, too, will be thinking about your darling Hope tomorrow. God Bless you for being the wonderful human being you are. Lots & Lots of HUGS!!!!!
Oh by the way I went back and looked at Hope when the postings first started because I was afraid to look before, but to see her now is amazing - what you've done for this poor lady is beyond comprehension. So wonderful - my heart is so full!!!
