I grew up in a house of smokers and never thought a thing of it. I used to pick up my father's discarded butts and try to smoke them. My sister tattled on me and I got in trouble. Fast forward to our teenage years. My sister became a chain smoker and continues to this day despite many health problems. I never began smoking and am very thankful for that.
Everyone I know that smokes, hates it and is trying to quit.
I realized that I am very biased towards smokers. Whenever I see someone smoking I assume that they are less educated and less intelligent than the average person. And I think worse of women than men.
We just returned from a family funeral in Tulsa. Most of my husband's relatives smoke and it was very hard to be around. I'm still coughing trying to clear my lungs. I noticed that the relatives that smoked the most, complained that they had the least money. When we calculated that they probably spend over $3000 a year on cigarettes, it was quite shocking.

I never picked it up and I'm so glad. My mom, dad, brother, and cousin all smoke and we live in one house. I get really frustrated! Plus my clothes always smell like smoke when I'm around them. :o
