I don't think you ever get too old to celebrate a holiday. Holidays aren't for children..........they're for everyone. Its just this particular holiday that doesn't mean much to me. It doesn't make any sense to me. It just doesn't. Perhaps it is because I've always seen it as a *couple's day*, even though I know its used to celebrate your love for anyone as well.........but that is just how the day is celebrated by so many. Maybe not in your family, but around here, everyone sees it as a bf/gf day, and personally, I don't even see bf/gf's as a relationship. For me, V-Day is just any other day. I don't even remember it. Heck I don't even remember my birthday. My mom does. :o I forget it. Wierd? Definitely. But that's me! LOL!Quote:

I personally, don't see the point of Valentine's Day either. It just seems stupid...but maybe that's because I'm alone. :p

Honestly when I was younger, I enjoyed Valentines day mainly because my parents would give me candy and such. As I got odler like High school and just out of high school, I couldn't stand it. I thought it was the lamest day of the year. Now however it's a day, just another day.
Yes Valentines day represents love, but really why should we all just use the one day of the year to show someone how we care about them? If I want chocolate or something, I'll go out and buy it, if I want flowers (which I don't really enjoy, not a flower type person) I'll go and look at a garden, and if I want to tell someone that I love them well dag nab it I'll do it when ever I want.
I will however be spending Valentines day with the goonies, which is a darn good way to spend a day if you ask me.

Personally, I don't think that love it evil. I do think that BCBlondies signature is adorable though!
For those of you who said Valentine's Day should be focused on family and spending time with them and being nice to them and giving them gifts and stuff because you love them instead of the whole boyfriend/girlfriend relationship thing... shouldn't you do that every day anyway? Show appreciation to your family members? You don't need a special day dedicated to spending time with family! :p
Are you calling us immature? Have you ever been in a relationship? I've had negative experiences with relationships so I have a reason to be against the whole "love" thing. I really don't appreciate you calling something I started just for fun "stupid". I did it to start a group with other singles... to show people who are single that they're not the only ones, and so we can share our experiences and help each other deal with them and stuff. And then you call it stupid?? Excuse me, but I think that's a little immature...Quote:

In all honesty I have to agree. I'm not saying that YOU are immature, but I think the whole thing is rather silly. I remember that when I was in high school I thought I knew everything about love because I had been in a few relationships, but my views and opinions have changed now that I am older. I'm single and believe me I've had my share of bad relationships, but that doesn't mean I think love is evil. I know that when the time is right, and I am ready I will find that special person. But until then, I'm going to enjoy my single life.Quote:

I don't believe ALL love is evil.. I know that there are people that are truly in love, and I think that's wonderful! And the relationships I was talking wasn't JUST about me... It was about my friends too... and I have friends of many ages. I also come from a sort of dysfunctional family... My mom divorced when I was 3, re-married when I was 4 or 5, and my step-dad's an alcoholic. I have very valid reasons for starting this club lol. But like I said, if you're lucky enough to have found someone great that you know you'll end up spending the rest of your life with, that's wonderful and you're very lucky! It's kinda like I said earlier and as Cataholic put it. It's nice to sometimes have a day set aside to celebrate specific things, it's not saying we should only show love once a year on Valentine's Day :p. A lot of us here celebrate birthdays for those we love and it doesn't mean we only appreciate them on that day. Having an actual day set aside to celebrate something just means we especially gather and celebrate it as a community, at least I think that is the idea behind holidays. We also don't NEED Thanksgiving or Halloween or St. Patrick's day etc etc. Those days all mean something different to different individuals, but we share in common recognizing it as a community and as a society on that particular day.Quote:

Well, that was my attempt at explaining how I see it. Not sure whether it got my point across or not. :p.
I also understand feeling down on some holidays because of feeling lonely or feeling left out too, but that also doesn't make the holiday stupid or pointless, that's all I'm saying :)
